Harfud Daali ·

From Ad-Dawaawiinu s-Sitta · الدواوين الست by Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass

Da‘ānīya min Salmā wa Laylā wa qallilā
Tadhakkura Rabbāti l-ghadā’iri musjallā

Leave me be from Salma and Layla, and cease mentioning the ladies with long tresses altogether.

Li-dhikri lladhī min dhikrihī tība qabla-hu
‘Alā Ādama idh kāna far‘an mu’aṣṣalā

Instead, mention the one through whose mention Adam was forgiven before him, when he was yet a rooted branch.

Li-dhikri lladhī lam yadhkuri l-ḥaqqu ghayra-hū
Madā d-dahri wa l-ayyāmi khayra man ursilā

Mention the one whom the Truth (God) has mentioned above all others, throughout all time and days, the best of those sent.

Li-dhikri lladhī ta‘rū fu’ādī hizzatun
Ladā dhikrihī wa l-qalbu ṣāra muqattalā

Mention the one for whom my heart is seized with a tremor upon his mention, while my heart has become slain by love.

Li-dhikri lladhī ṭāba l-janānu bi-nashrihī
Wa minhu ḍiyā’u l-badri badran mukammalā

Mention the one through whose fragrance the gardens became sweet, and from whom the full moon derives its perfect light.

Fa-lawlāhu lā tulfī layādan fa-innahū
Labadhratu hādhā l-kawni idh kāna mursalā

Were it not for him, you would find no refuge; for he is the very seed of this universe when he was sent.

Wa lawlāhu lā arḍā ḥayātī bi-laḥẓatin
Fa-ḥayyūn bi-ghayri l-muṣṭafā l-badri uhmlā

Were it not for him, I would not be satisfied with my life for a single moment; for a life without the Chosen Full Moon is wasted.

Wa man bi-ṣifāti l-muṣṭafā āla kulluhū
Ḥayātan wa mawta-n nāla ‘izzan mubajjalā

And whoever attaches himself entirely to the attributes of the Chosen One, in life and in death, attains a magnificent glory.

Ma’āthiru khayri l-khalqi ghayru muḥaṣṣarin
Fa-qul fīhi mā qad shi’ta ‘abdan mufaḍḍalā

The noble virtues of the Best of Creation are beyond numbering; so say of him what you will as a preferred servant.

Fa-yā Rabbī fa-j‘alnī ladayhi muqarrabā
Wa ṣaḥbī wa aḥbābī wa man kāna muwaṣṣalā

O Lord, make me close to him, along with my companions, my loved ones, and whoever is connected to us.

Wa taj‘alunā li-l-muttaqīna a’immatan
Ilā abadi l-ābādi sayban murassalā

And make us leaders for the God-fearing, until the end of time, like a continuously flowing stream of goodness.

Wa layyin ṣukhūra l-māridīna wa huddahā
Wa qawwi yaqīna l-muqtafīna dhawi l-‘ulā

Soften the rocks of the rebellious and demolish them, and strengthen the certainty of the followers who possess high rank.

Wa aghni faqīra l-muntamīna li-ḥizbinā
Wa najji jamī‘a l-mu’minīna min ibtilā

Enrich the poor among those who belong to our group, and save all the believers from affliction.

Turqīhimū yā Rabbī bi-sh-shukri dā’iman
Fa innaka maljā al-‘ājizīna mujallalā

Elevate them, O Lord, through perpetual gratitude; for You have always been the hope and the succor of those seeking refuge.

Ayā Rabbī yā man junduhū d-dahra ghālibun
Wa law ḍa‘ufat āra’uhum yā mu’ammalā

O Lord, You whose army is always victorious, even if their own opinions are weak, O Object of Hope.

Laka l-ḥamdu wa sh-shukru l-musarmadu dā’iman
Fa-lam yakhsha man yalja’ ilayka tawakkulā

To You belongs all praise and eternal gratitude forever; for he who takes refuge in You with trust never fears.

Ṣalātun wa taslīmun ‘alā Ṭāhā Aḥmadin
Wa ālin wa aṣḥābin wa man kāna mursalā

Blessings and peace be upon Taha Ahmad, and his family, his companions, and all who were sent.
