Harful Haai ·
From Ad-Dawaawiinu s-Sitta · الدواوين الست by Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass
Ḥayātī li-khayri al-khalqi man zaḥzaḥa al-ghaynā
Wa mazzaqa ahla al-buṭli idh zakhrafū al-maynā
My life is for the Best of Creation, who pushed away the clouds of the heart and tore apart the people of falsehood when they embellished their lies.
Kadhālika amru al-ḥaqqi wa al-buṭlu zāhiqun
Wa ashkuruhu fī mayziya al-ghayna wa al-‘aynā
Such is the command of the Truth, while falsehood is bound to vanish; and I thank Him for my ability to distinguish between the Ghayn (veil) and the Ayn (essence).
Fa-shawqī li-‘Abdi Allāhi Aḥmada sayyidī
Muḥammadin al-mukhtāri qad zaḥzaḥa al-raynā
My longing for the servant of Allah, Ahmad, my Master—Muhammad the Chosen—has pushed away the rust of the heart.
Fada‘ ‘anka naqaṭa al-ghayni fa-al-ghaynu ẓāhirun
Fa-naqṭuka ‘ayna al-‘ayni abdā laka al-ghaynā
So leave aside the dotting of the Ayn, for the Essence is manifest; and your dotting of the Ayn is what created the Ghayn (cloud) for you.
Wa lākinna dhāka al-shawqa ghayru muzahzahin
Wa ayna dawā’u al-shawqi yā jīratī aynā
Yet that longing itself cannot be pushed away; and where is the cure for longing, O my neighbors, where?
Wa shawqī ilā dhāka al-janābi dawā’uhu
Ḥarāmun fa-lā narjū shifā’an wa lā ḥaznā
My longing for that Presence—its cure is forbidden; so we hope for neither healing nor an end to this sorrow.
Salawtu ‘ani al-bīḍi al-ḥisāni matā arā
Jamālaka ‘Abda Allāhi ḥusnan ‘alā ḥusnā
I have turned away from the beautiful fair-skinned ladies, for when will I see your beauty, O servant of Allah—a beauty above all beauty?
Ṣalātun wa taslīmun ‘alayhi musarmadan
Ma‘a al-āli wa al-aṣḥābi qarṇan ‘alā qarnā
Prayers and salutations be upon him eternally, along with the family and the companions, generation after generation.
Fa-afḍalu mab‘ūthin mina Allāhi sayyidī
Muḥammadu ‘Abdu Allāhi man jūdahu al-ḥusnā
For he is the best Messenger sent from Allah, my Master; Muhammad, the servant of Allah, whose generosity is the utmost good.
Abū al-bashari al-mifḍālu Ādamu taḥtahu
Bi-awlādihi ṭurran yalūdhu bihi ḥīnā
The virtuous father of humanity, Adam, is beneath him; along with all his children, he seeks refuge in him in our time of need.
Wa kullu nabiyyin qāla nafsī wa ummatī
Yaqūlu Rasūlu Allāhi akrim bihi ‘aynā
While every other prophet says, "Myself, my nation," the Messenger of Allah says [the contrary]—how noble is his concern!
Fa-Barhāmu ‘Abdu Allāhi bi-al-ḥiqwi lā’idhun
Fa-lā yakhtashī nāban wa kaydan wa lā ḥīnā
Barham, the servant of Allah, is seeking refuge in his protection; so he fears no fang, no plot, and no destruction.
Arā annanī ‘Abdu al-Malīki ḥaqīqatan
Fa-lā ḥaẓẓa li-al-aghyāri fī al-qalbi lā shaynā
I see that I am truly the servant of the King; there is no share for "others" in my heart, and no blemish.
Wa dhālika faḍlu Allāhi ḥaddathtu shākiran
Wa fakhran bi-ḥaqqin lā bi-Su‘dā wa lā Lubnā
That is the grace of Allah which I recount in gratitude; a pride in the Truth, not in romantic tales of Su'da or Lubna.
‘Alā Aḥmada wa al-āli wa al-ṣaḥbi dā’iman
Ṣalātun wa taslīmun tunaffī lanā al-ghaynā
Upon Ahmad, the family, and the companions always be prayers and salutations that remove the clouds from us.
