مُحَمَّــــدُ عَبْــــدُ اللّٰهِ غَيْرُ مُشَبَّـــــهِ
بِهِ بَشَرٌ مَنْ رَامَ ذَلِـــــكَ سَفِّـــــــهِ

Muḥammadu ‘Abdu Allāhi ghayru mushabbah
Bihi basharun man rāma dhālika saffahu

Muhammad is the servant of Allah, and no human can be compared to him; whoever attempts such a comparison, consider them foolish.

فَهُو صِفَةٌ شَبَّهْتُـهُ بِاسْـــــمِ فَاعِـــلٍ
وَلَيْسَ بِشِبْهِ الْمُصْطَفَى غَيْرُ عَيْنِهِ

Fahuwa ṣifatun shabb-ahtu bismī fā‘ilin
Wa laysa bishibhi al-Muṣṭafā ghayru ‘aynihī

He is like an Attribute that I have likened to an active participle, yet there is nothing like the Chosen One except his own essence.

مُحَمَّدُ لَمْ يَعْرِفْــــــهُ غَيْـــــرُ إِلَـهِــهِ
يَضِيقُ جَمِيعُ الْكَوْنِ عَنْ حَمْلِ كَوْنِهِ

Muḥammadu lam ya‘rifhu ghayru ilāhihī
Yaḍīqu jamī‘u al-kawni ‘an ḥamli kawnihī

None truly knows Muhammad except his God, for the entire universe is too narrow to contain the reality of his being.

تَعَرَّفَ فِيهِ الْحَــــقُّ وَهْوَ مُنَكَّــــرٌ
مُطَلْسَمُ سِـــــرٍّ لاَ يَرِيمُ بِقُدْسِــــهِ

Ta‘arrafa fīhi al-ḥaqqu wa huwa munakkar
Muṭalsamu sirrun lā yarīmu bi-qudsihī

The Truth (God) made Himself known through him while he remained an "unknown" entity, a talismanoic secret never departing from its sanctity.

مُحَمَّدُ شَمْسُ الْحَقِّ فَضْلاً وَشُهْرَةً
فَهُو الْعَلَمُ الْمَعْرُوفُ عَيْنُ تَنَـــــزُّهِ

Muḥammadu shamsu al-ḥaqqi faḍlan wa shuhra
Fahuwa al-‘alamu al-ma‘rūfu ‘ayna tanazzuh

Muhammad is the Sun of Truth in virtue and fame; he is the well-known banner and the very essence of purity.

جَمَادَاتُ هَذَا الْكَوْنِ تَدْرِي مُحَمَّـــدًا
كَذَا الْعُجْمُ وَالْأَعْجَامُ مِنْ بَعْدِ عُرْبِهِ

Jamādātu hādhā al-kawni tadri Muḥammadan
Ka-dhā al-‘ujmu wa al-a‘jāmu min ba‘di ‘urbihī

The inanimate objects of this universe recognize Muhammad, as do the foreigners and non-Arabs alongside the Arabs.

تَنَكَّرَ مَعْرُوفًا لَدَى كُلِّ عَـــــــاقِـــلٍ
فَمَا عُرِفَ الْمُخْتَـــــارُ إِلاَّ بِنَفْسِـــهِ

Tanakkara ma‘rūfan lada kulli ‘āqilin
Fa-mā ‘urifa al-mukhtāru illā binafsihī

He remains "unknown" even while being the most "well-known" to every person of intellect; for the Chosen One is known only through himself.

فَمِنَّا أَتَانَا مُرْسَلاً وَهْوَ رَحْمَــــــــةٌ
مِنَ اللّٰهِ مَوْلَى الْخَلْقِ أَعْظِمْ بِخُلْقِــهِ

Faminna atānā mursalan wa huwa raḥmatun
Mina Allāhi mawlā al-khalqi a‘ẓim bi-khuliqihī

He came to us from among ourselves as a Messenger and a mercy from Allah, the Master of creation—how magnificent is his character!

وَزَكَّاهُ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ وَهْوَ مُبَرِّزٌ
وَقَرَّبَهُ قُرْبًا يُحَالُ لِجِنْسِهِ

Wa zakkāhu rabbul-‘arshi wa huwa mubarrizun
Wa qarrabahu qurban yuḥālu li-jinsihī

The Lord of the Throne purified him and made him pre-eminent, drawing him near in a closeness impossible for any of his kind.

وَمَا وَلَدَ الرَّحْمَانُ فَهْوَ عُبَيْدُهُ
فَجَلَّ إِلَهِي لَيْسَ شَيْءٌ كَمِثْلِهِ

Wa mā walada al-Raḥmānu fahuwa ‘ubayduhu
Fajalla ilāhī laysa shay’un kamithlihi

The Most Merciful did not beget him, for he is His little servant; Exalted is my God, there is nothing like unto Him.

وَلَكِنَّ أَعْلَى الْخَلْقِ فَضْلاً وَرُتْبَةً
مُحَمَّدُ ذَاكَ الْعَبْــــدُ دُونَ مُشَبَّــهِ

Wa lakinna a‘lā al-khalqi faḍlan wa rutbatan
Muḥammadu dhāka al-‘abdu dūna mushabbah

Yet the highest of creation in virtue and rank is Muhammad—that servant who is without any peer.

لِذَا تَامَ قَلْبِي ، قَدْ سَلَوْتُ لِحُبِّـــــهِ
جَمِيعَ أَحِبَّائِي وَذَا دُونَ كَتْمِـــهِ

Li-dhā tāmu qalbī, qad salawtu li-ḥubbihī
Jamī‘a aḥibbā’ī wa dhā dūna katmihī

Therefore my heart is enslaved, and for his love I have set aside all other beloveds, and this I do without concealment.

فَمَا شَاقَ قَلْبِي الْغِيدُ مَا الْغِيدُ بَلْهَهَا
سَرَابٌ لَدَى طَـــــهَ الْأَمِينِ الْمُنَزَّهِ

Fa-mā shāqa qalbī al-ghīdu mā al-ghīdu balhahā
Sarābun lada Ṭāha al-Amīni al-munazzah

The fair maidens do not stir my heart—what are they but a mirage compared to the trustworthy, pure Taha?

تَسَلَّيْتُ عَنْ لَيْلَى وَمَيلَى وَتَنْدَمِ
بِطَــــــــهَ أَمِينِ اللّٰهِ حِبِّي الْمُنَوَّهِ

Tasallaytu ‘an Laylā wa Maylā wa tandam
Bi-Ṭāha Amīni Allāhi ḥibbī al-munawwah

I found solace from Layla, Mayla, and my regrets through Taha, the Trustworthy of Allah, my celebrated beloved.

نَبِيذِي وَخَمْرِي الدَّهْرَ سَرْدُ مَدِيحِهِ
وَذَلِكَ حِصْنِي وَهْوَ جَيْشِي لِنَصْرِهِ

Nabīdhī wa khamrī al-dahra sardu madīḥihī
Wa dhālika ḥiṣnī wa huwa jayshī li-naṣrihī

My wine and my intoxicant throughout time is the recitation of his praise; that is my fortress and my army for victory.

كَفَانِي افْتِخَارًا فِي حَيَاتِي وَبَعْدَهَا
بِأَنَّ نَبِيِّي الْمُصْطَفَى خَيْرُ رُسْلِـــهِ

Kafānī iftikhāran fī ḥayātī wa ba‘dahā
Bi-anna nabiyyī al-Muṣṭafā khayru rusulihī

It is enough pride for me in this life and after it that my Prophet is the Chosen One, the best of His messengers.

وَإِنِّي عُبَيْدُ اللّٰهِ أَتْلُـــــو كِتَابَــــــهُ
وَذَلِكَ فَخْرٌ أَيُّ فَخْـــــرٍ كَعَدْلِــــهِ

Wa innī ‘ubaydu Allāhi atlu kitābahu
Wa dhālika fakhrun ayyū fakhrin ka-‘adlihi

And I am a little servant of Allah reciting His Book, and what pride can possibly equal that?

وَإِنِي وَإِنْ كُنْتُ الْأَخِيرَ زَمَانِهِ
لَأَرْجُو بِشَارَاتِ الْأَمِينِ لِصَحْبِهِ

Wa innī wa in kuntu al-akhīra zamānihī
La-arjū bi-sharātil-Amīni li-ṣaḥbihī

And though I may be the last in terms of time, I hope for the glad tidings the Trustworthy one gave to his companions.

"سَيَأْتِي زَمَانٌ" "لاَ يَزَالُ" "وَأُمَّتِي"
وَمَا قَالَ فِي عِيسَى سُلُــــوٌّ لِحِزْبِـــــهِ

"Sayā’tī zamānun" "lā yazālu" "wa ummatī"
Wa mā qāla fī ‘Īsā sulūwwun li-ḥizbihī

"A time will come," "there will remain," and "my nation"—and what he said regarding Jesus brings comfort to his group.

فَيَا رَبِّ فَاسْلُكْ بِي وَحِزْبِي صِرَاطَهُ
وَلَوْ كَانَ قَبْضُ الْجَمْرِ فِي قَفْوِ نَهْجِــهِ

Fa-yā Rabb fa-asluki bī wa ḥizbī ṣirātahū
Wa law kāna qabḍu al-jamri fī qafwi nahjihī

O Lord, lead me and my group upon his path, even if following his way feels like grasping burning coals.

عَلَيْهِ صَلاَةُ الْحَقِّ فِي كُلِّ لَحْظَــــــــةٍ
مَعَ الْآلِ وَالْأَصْحَابِ وَالْمُقْتَدِي بِــــــهِ

‘Alayhi ṣalātu al-ḥaqqi fī kulli laḥẓah
Ma‘a al-āl wa al-aṣḥāb wa al-muqtadī bihi

Upon him be the prayer of the Truth in every moment, along with the family, the companions, and all who follow him.
