Harfun Nuuni ·

From Ad-Dawaawiinu s-Sitta · الدواوين الست by Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass

Nafā ‘an fu’ādī Aḥmadu al-ghamma wa al-karbā
Wa thabbata fīhi al-dhikara wa al-shawqa wa al-ḥubbā

Ahmad has banished grief and distress from my heart, and firmly established within it remembrance, longing, and love.

Fa-inna Rasūla Allāhi unsī wa rāḥatī
Wa rūḥī wa rayḥānī matā akhriqu al-ḥujbā

For the Messenger of Allah is my intimacy and my rest, my soul and my sweet fragrance whenever the veils are pierced.

Muḥammadu Maḥmūdun wa Aḥmadu Ḥāmidun
‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi mā ṭahhara al-qalba

Muhammad is the praised one and Ahmad is the praiser; upon him be the blessings of Allah as long as he purifies the heart.

Ta’akhkhara ba‘da al-rusli wa huwa muqaddamun
Fa-ḍiddun bi-ḍiddin ḥayyara al-‘aqla wa al-lubba

He came last after the Messengers yet he is foremost; a paradox that has bewildered the intellect and the mind.

Wa yumriḍunī dhikrāhu ṭawran wa tāratan
Yumarriḍunī hā dhāka aḥwālu man ḥabbā

His remembrance makes me "ill" with longing at times, and at other times it heals me; such are the states of one who loves.

Taṣīru jibālī haybatan min jalālihī
Idhā lāḥa dakkān faltasil mughraman ṣabbā

My mountains (egos/firmness) crumble out of awe for his majesty when he appears; so reach out to an infatuated, ardent lover.

Yalūmunanī jahlan wa ayqaṇtu anna man
Tajarra‘a min mi‘shāri mā dhuqtuhu ṣabbā

They blame me out of ignorance, but I am certain that whoever tasted even a tenth of what I have tasted would be overcome with passion.

‘Alā annanī rāḍin bi-an qīla jāhilun
Safīhun wa in qālū fatabba lahu tabbā

However, I am content to be called ignorant or foolish; and if they say "destruction to him," then let it be.

Idhā kunta taṣfū lī wa janbuka ṣāliḥun
Faqad ṭafi’at mā awqadū kulluhum ḥarbā

As long as you (the Prophet) are pure toward me and your side is favorable, then all the wars they have ignited have been extinguished.

Raḍītu bihi ṭūla al-zamāni wa dīnīhi
Wa rabbī ilāhī qad raḍītu bihi rabbā

I have been pleased with him and his religion for all time, and I have been pleased with my Lord as my God.

Fa-ḥasbī ilāhī lam arum naf‘a ghayruhu
Wa lā ḍayrahu akhshā fa-ḥasbī bihi ḥasbā

My God is sufficient for me, I seek no benefit from any other, nor do I fear any harm; He is enough for me.

‘Alayhi ṣalātu al-ḥaqqi fī kulli laḥẓah
Wa tashmalu azwājan wa tastaghriqu al-ṣaḥbā

Upon him be the prayer of the Truth in every moment, and may it include his wives and encompass all his companions.
