# Harful 'Ayni · حرف العين

**1.** عَلَى الْمُصْطَفَى الْمُخْتَارِ مِنْ مَعْشَرِ الْبِيضِ / صَلاَةٌ وَتَسْلِيمٌ مِــنَ الْكُــلِّ وَالْبَعْــضِ

_‘Alā al-Muṣṭafā al-mukhtāri min ma‘shari al-bayḍi / Ṣalātun wa taslīmun min al-kulli wa al-ba‘ḍi_

Upon the Chosen One, the elect from the noble assembly, be prayers and peace from the whole and the part.

**2.** بُرُوزُ تَجَلِّي الذَّاتِ أَوَّلِ عَابِدٍ / وَوَاسِطَةِ الْأَحْوَالِ فِي الْبَسْطِ وَالْقَبْضِ

_Burūzu tajallī al-ḏāti awwali ‘ābidin / Wa wāsiṭati al-aḥwāli fī al-basiṭi wa al-qabḍi_

The manifestation of the Essence's epiphany, the first worshiper, and the intermediary of all states in spiritual expansion and contraction.

**3.** سَأُطْرِبُهُ بِالْمَــــدْحِ إِذْ زَحْـــزَحَ الْخَنَـــا / مَدَى الدَّهْرِ عَنْ قَوْلِي وَفِعْلِي وَعَنْ عِرْضِي

_Sa-uṭribuhu bi-al-madḥi idh zaḥzaha al-khanā / Madā al-dahri ‘an qawlī wa fi‘lī wa ‘an ‘irḍī_

I shall delight him with praise since he has banished obscenity from my speech, my actions, and my honor for all time.

**4.** نَبِيٌّ قُبَيْلَ الْكَــــوْنِ وَحَّـــــدَ رَبَّــــــهُ / فَصَلَّتْ عَلَيْهِ الذَّاتُ أَحْسِنْ بِذَا الْفَرْضِ

_Nabiyyun qubaila al-kawni waḥḥada rabbahu / Fa-ṣallat ‘alayhi al-ḏātu aḥsin bi-hā al-farḍi_

A Prophet who declared the Oneness of his Lord before the universe existed, so the Divine Essence itself blessed him—how excellent is this obligation.

**5.** نَبِيٌّ أَتَانَا فَاتِحًــــا وَهْـــوَ خَاتِـــــمٌ / عَلَيْهِ ثَنَائِي الدَّهْرَ كَيْمَا بِهِ أُرْضِي

_Nabiyyun atānā fātiḥan wa-huwa khātimun / ‘Alayhi thanā’ī al-dahri kaymā bihi urḍī_

A Prophet who came to us as an opener while being the seal; upon him is my praise forever that I may please [God] through him.

**6.** نَبِيٌّ عَظِيمٌ لَمْ تَرَ الْعَيْــــــنُ مِثْلَــــهُ / وَيُبْعَثُ مَحْمُودَ الْمَقَامِ لَدَى الْعَرْضِ

_Nabiyyun ‘aẓīmun lam tara al-‘aynu mithlahu / Wa yub‘athu Maḥmūda al-maqāmi ladā al-‘arḍi_

A magnificent Prophet whose like the eye has never seen, and he shall be resurrected in the Praiseworthy Station during the Presentation.

**7.** نَبِيٌّ عَظِيمٌ خُلْقُهُ وَهْــــــوَ أَحْمَــــدٌ / عَلَيْهِ صَلاَةٌ مِنْ سَمَاءٍ وَمِنْ أَرْضِ

_Nabiyyun ‘aẓīmun khulquhu wa huwa Aḥmadun / ‘Alayhi ṣalātun min samā’in wa min arḍi_

A magnificent Prophet of noble character, and he is Ahmad; upon him be prayers from the heavens and from the earth.

**8.** جَلِيلٌ جَمِيلٌ صَابِرٌ وَهْوَ شَاكِـــــــرٌ / أَتَى رَحْمَةً لِلْكَوْنِ مِنْ كَرَمٍ مَحْــضِ

_Jalīlun jamīlun ṣābirun wa huwa shākirun / Atā raḥmatan lil-kawni min karamim maḥḍi_

Exalted, beautiful, patient, and grateful; he came as a mercy to the universe out of pure generosity.

**9.** أَفَاضَ إِلَى كُلِّ الْخَلاَئِقِ فَيْضَـــــــهُ / فَأَكْرِمْ بِخَيْرِ الْخَلْقِ إِذْ عَمَّ بِالْفَيْضِ

_Afāḍa ilā kulli al-khalā’iqi fayḍahu / Fa-akrim bi-khayri al-khalqi idh ‘amma bi-al-fayḍi_

He poured his spiritual overflow onto all creatures; how noble is the Best of Creation as he encompassed everyone with that overflow.

**10.** وَمِنْ حُبِّهِ تَبْيَضُّ سُودٌ وَبُغْضُهُ / بِهِ اسْوَدَّ أَقْوَامٌ لِئَـامٌ مِنَ الْبِيضِ

_Wa min ḥubbihi tabyaḍdu sūdun wa bughḍuhu / Bihi aswadda aqwāmun li’āmun min al-bayḍi_

Through his love, the "black" become "white" (spiritually radiant), and through hatred of him, mean-spirited "white" people have become "black."

**11.** وَهَذَا بِحَمْــــــــدِ اللّٰهِ تَصْـــرِيفُ رَبِّنَــــا / لَهُ الْحُكْمُ وَالتَّصْرِيفُ فِي الْحُبِّ وَالْبُغْضِ

_Wa hādhā bi-ḥamdi Allāhi taṣrīfu rabbinā / Lahu al-ḥukmu wa al-taṣrīfu fī al-ḥubbi wa al-bughḍi_

This, by the praise of Allah, is the disposal of our Lord; to Him belongs the judgment and the disposal over love and hatred.

**12.** عَلَى الْمُصْطَفَى وَالْآلِ ثُــــمَّ صِحَابِـــــهِ / صَلاَةٌ وَتَسْلِيمٌ عَلَى حَالَــــــةٍ تُـــرْضِي

_‘Alā al-Muṣṭafā wa al-āli thumma ṣiḥābihi / Ṣalātun wa taslīmun ‘alā ḥālatin turḍī_

Upon the Chosen One, the family, and then his companions, be prayers and peace in a manner that is pleasing.
