# Harful Khaai · حرف الخاء

**1.** خَدَمْتُ رَسُولَ اللّٰهِ شَوْقًا مُحَادِثَا / بِهِ سَامِرًا فِي ذِكْرِهِ وَمُنَافِثَــــا

_Khadamtu Rasūla Allāhi shawqan muḥādiṯan / Bihi sāmiran fī dhikrihi wa munāfiṯan_

I served the Messenger of Allah out of longing, conversing with him and spending the night in his remembrance and intimate discourse.

**2.** حَمَلْتُ وَرَبِّي بِالْوِدَادِ أَمَانَـــــةً / وَعَهْدًا أُرَاعِيهَا وَلَمْ أُلْفَ نَاكِثَا

_Ḥamaltu wa Rabbī bi al-widādi amānan / Wa ‘ahdan urā‘īhā wa lam ulfa nākiṯan_

By my Lord, I have carried the trust of affection and a covenant that I safeguard, never being found as one who breaks it.

**3.** رَفَعْتُ لِوَاءَ الْحُبِّ وَالذِّكْـــرِ سَامِيــــاً / وَقَدْ رُضْتُ هَمَّامًا وَمَنْ كَانَ حَارِثَا

_Rafa‘tu liwā’a al-ḥubbi wa al-dhikri sāmiyaan / Wa qad ruḍtu hammāman wa man kāna ḥārithan_

I raised the banner of love and remembrance high, and I have trained the ambitious soul and the one who toils.

**4.** أَرِقْتُ لِذِكْرِ الْمُصْطَفَى شَغَفًـــــا بِــهِ / وَنَامَ أُخَيٌّ كَانَ عِنْـــــدِي مُحَادِثَـــا

_Araqtū li dhikri al-muṣṭafā shagafan bihi / Wa nāma ukhiyyun kāna ‘indī muḥādiṯan_

I remained sleepless in the remembrance of the Chosen One out of infatuation, while a brother who was conversing with me fell asleep.

**5.** فَأَرْتَعْتُ نُجْبَ الْفِكْرِ فِي رَوْضِ وَصْفِهِ / بِمَرْتَعِ أُنْسٍ لَـــــمْ أَجِــدْ فِيـــهِ عَائِثَــــا

_Fa-arta‘tu nujba al-fikri fī rawḍi waṣfihi / Bi-marta‘i unsin lam ajid fīhi ‘ā’ithan_

I let the noble camels of my thought graze in the meadow of his attributes, in a pasture of intimacy where I found no spoiler.

**6.** فَيَا لَكَ مِنْ مَرْعًى هُنَـــــاكَ وَمَرْتَــعٍ / بَهِيـجٍ حَمَيْنَــــــاهُ قَدِيمًــــا وَحَادِثَــــا

_Fayā laka min mar‘an hunāka wa mart‘in / Bahīj-in ḥamaynāhu qadīman wa ḥādithan_

O what a pasture that is, and what a delightful grazing ground which we have protected since old and into the present.

**7.** وَيَمْأَنُ طُولَ الدَّهْرِ شَــــمُّ أَرِيجِــــهِ / لِسَامٍ وَحَامٍ ثُمَّ مَـــــــنْ كَانَ يَافِثَــــا

_Wa yam’anu ṭūla al-dahri shammu arījihi / Li-sāmin wa ḥāmin thumma man kāna yāfiṯan_

Its fragrant scent sustains throughout all time the descendants of Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

**8.** مُحَمَّدُ عَبْــــــدُ اللّٰهِ أَحْمَــــدُ حَامِــــدٌ / عَلَيْهِ صَــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ مَثْنَــــى وَثَالِثَــــا

_Muḥammadun ‘Abdu Allāhi Aḥmadu Ḥāmidun / ‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi mathnā wa thāliṯan_

Muhammad, the servant of Allah, Ahmad the praiser; upon him be the blessings of Allah, doubled and tripled.

**9.** عَلَيْهِ صَلاَةُ الذَّاتِ بِالذَّاتِ وَحْدَهَــا / وَيَعْلُــو غَرَامِي فِيهِ بِالْمَدْحِ نَافِثَــا

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu al-dhāti bi al-dhāti waḥdahā / Wa ya‘lū gharāmī fīhi bi al-madḥi nāfiṯan_

Upon him be the prayer of the Essence by the Essence alone, while my passion for him rises as I breathe out my praise.

**10.** بِأَضْعَافِ مَا يَجْرِي مِنَ الْآنِ دَائِمًا / وَمَا تُقْتُ لِلْمَحْبُوبِ فِيهِ مُحَادِثَـــــا

_Bi aḍ‘āfi mā yajrī mina al-āni dā’iman / Wa mā tuqtu li al-maḥbūbi fīhi muḥādiṯan_

With multiples of whatever flows from this moment forward forever, and for as long as I long for the Beloved while conversing with him.
