Harfuzw Zwaai ·
From Ad-Dawaawiinu s-Sitta · الدواوين الست by Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass
Ẓa‘antu wa qudtu al-khalqa bi-l-madḥi alfiẓu
Wa ḥubba Rasūli Allāhi wa al-‘ahda aḥfaẓu
I set out on a journey and led the creation while uttering praise, for I preserve the love of the Messenger of Allah and the covenant.
Nasīru bi-sayrin yazdarī wa khud bāzil
Wa lī maqwalu yaḥdū wa bi-l-madḥi yalfiẓu
We travel with a pace that puts to shame the stride of a sturdy camel, and I have a tongue that chants and speaks in praise.
Wa qad ‘alima al-aqwāmu annī mubarrizun
Wa min maraḍin jāru ‘alayya wa aghlaẓu
The nations have known that I am pre-eminent, yet out of a sickness in their hearts, they have wronged me and acted harshly.
Wa annā ubālī wa al-Rasūlu mujāwirī
Idhā ṣadda arbābu al-nufūsi wa aḥfaẓu
But how could I care when the Messenger is my neighbor, even if the masters of the lower souls turn away and harbor resentment?
Wa innī ‘abdu Allāhi atlu kitābahu
Wa janba Rasūli Allāhi dahrī uqarriẓu
Indeed, I am the servant of Allah reciting His Book, and by the side of the Messenger of Allah, I spend my time in eulogy.
Wa inna rijāla Allāhi dānū li-ṭā‘atī
Wa lī bi-Rasūli Allāhi dir‘un mughallaẓu
The men of Allah have submitted in obedience to me, and through the Messenger of Allah, I possess a reinforced coat of mail.
Fa-‘aynu ‘ināyāti al-Ilāhi bi-faḍlihi
Bi-badwin wa Miṣrin jānibī al-dahra talḥaẓu
The eye of Divine care, by His grace, watches over my side forever, whether in the desert or in the city.
Wa man laḥaẓat-hu ‘aynu-hā khaffa kulla mā
Yukhāfu ‘alayhi wa al-‘aduwwu yuqarrizzu
And whoever is watched by that Eye, every fear concerning him becomes light, even while the enemy is left grinding his teeth.
Fa-ashkuru Rabbī bi-l-amīn wa wuddihi
Sa-akhḍumuhu madḥan madā al-dahri yuḥfaẓu
I thank my Lord through the Trustworthy one and his affection; I shall serve him with praise that will be preserved throughout time.
‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi mā qāla ṣādiqun
Wa ḥubbu Rasūli Allāhi wa al-‘ahda aḥfaẓu
Upon him be the prayer of Allah as long as a truthful one says: I preserve the love of the Messenger of Allah and the covenant.
‘Alayhi ma‘a al-āli al-kirām wa ṣaḥbihi
Kadhāka salāmun mā al-janābu muqarrizzu
Upon him, along with the noble family and his companions, be likewise peace as long as his presence is being praised.
