# Harful Daal · حرف الدال

**1.** بَرَى الْقَلْبَ حُبُّ الْـهَاشِمِيِّ مُحَمَّدِ / تَخَوَّفَ نَوْمِي بِالْغَرَامِ الْمُسَهِّــــدِ

_Barā al-qalba ḥubbu al-Hāshimiyyi Muḥammadi / Takhawwafa nawmī bi-al-gharāmi al-musahhidi_

Love for the Hashimite Muhammad has consumed my heart, and sleepless longing has frightened away my slumber.

**2.** رَسُولٌ مِنَ الْكَنْزِ الْقَدِيمِ مَنَالُهُ / تَحَيَّرَ فِيهِ خَاطِرُ الْمُتَــــــرَدِّدِ

_Rasūlun mina al-kanzi al-qadīmi manāluhu / Taḥayyara fīhi khāṭiru al-mutaraddidi_

He is a Messenger whose source is the Ancient Treasure, leaving the hesitant mind in utter bewilderment.

**3.** عُبُودَتُهُ مَقْرُونَةٌ بِسِيَـــــــــادَةٍ / بَشِيرٌ نَذِيرٌ قَاصِدٌ خَيْرُ مَقْصَدِ

_‘Ubūdatuhu maqrūnatun bi-siyādatin / Bashīrun nadhīrun qāṣidun khayru maqṣadi_

His servitude is inextricably linked to mastery; a bringer of glad tidings and warnings, seeking the best of goals.

**4.** مَذَلَّتُهُ الْعِزُّ الْقَدِيمُ جَلاَلُـــــــهُ / جَمَالٌ فَيَبْدُو بِالْجَمَالِ الْمُجَــدَّدِ

_Madhallatuhu al-‘izzu al-qadīmu jalāluhu / Jamālun fa-yabdū bi-al-jamāli al-mujaddadi_

His humility is the primordial glory, and his majesty is a beauty that appears in ever-renewed forms.

**5.** فَقِيرٌ غَنِيٌّ حَامِدٌ وَمُحَمَّـــــــدٌ / جَوَادٌ كَرِيمٌ مَدْحُهُ خَيْرُ مُنْشَـدِ

_Faqīrun ghaniyyun ḥāmidun wa-muḥammadun / Jawādun karīmun madḥuhu khayru munshadi_

Poor yet rich, praising yet praised, generous and noble; his eulogy is the finest of all songs.

**6.** وَلَيْسَ يُرَى مَنْ ضَامَهُ الدَّهْرُ ضَارِعًا / مَدَى الدَّهْرِ إِلاَّ نَالَهُ خَيْــــــرُ مُنْجِـــــدِ

_Wa-laysa yurā man ḍāmahu ad-dahru ḍāri‘an / Madā ad-dahri illā nālahu khayru munjidi_

One oppressed by time is never seen pleading without receiving help from the best of helpers.

**7.** وَهَذَا خَدِيمٌ قَـــــدْ أَتَى مُتَكَفِّفًـــــا / فَمُدَّ لَهُ كَفَّيْكَ يَا خَيْــــرَ صِنْـــدِدِ

_Wa-hadhā khadīmun qad atā mutakaffifan / Fa-mudda lahu kaffayka yā khayra ṣindidi_

Here is a servant who has come with open palms, so stretch out your hands to him, O best of leaders.

**8.** وَكُنْ حِصْنَهُ عَمَّا يَخَافُ وَكُنْ لَهُ / فَهَلْ وَزَرٌ يُلْفَى كَأَحْمَـــــدَ سَيِّـــدِي

_Wa-kun ḥiṣnahu ‘ammā yakhāfu wa-kun lahu / Fa-hal wazarun yulfā ka-Aḥmada sayyidī_

Be his fortress against all he fears and be there for him, for is there any refuge to be found like my master Ahmad?

**9.** عَلَيْهِ صَلاَةُ رَبِّــهِ حَـــــــقَّ قَــــدْرِهِ / مَعَ الْآلِ وَالْأَصْحَابِ بَلْ كُلِّ أَحْمَدِ

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu rabbihi ḥaqqa qadrihi / Ma‘a al-āli wa-al-aṣḥābi bal kulli aḥmadi_

Upon him be the prayers of his Lord as is his true due, along with his folk, companions, and every follower of Ahmad.

**10.** قَضَى لِيَ قَاضِي الْحُبِّ وَهْوَ مُـبَرِّزٌ / بِـأَنِّـي الْمُجَلِّي فِـــي مَحَبَّةِ أَحْمَـــدِ

_Qaḍā liya qāḍī al-ḥubbi wa-huwa mubarrizun / Bi-annī al-mujallī fī maḥabbati Aḥmadi_

The Judge of Love, who is pre-eminent, has decreed that I am the frontrunner in the love of Ahmad.

**11.** لِذَالِكَ أَقْضِي فِي الْوُجُودِ بِأَسْرِهِ / قَضَاءَ ذَوِي الْأَمْلاَكِ غَيْرَ مُفَنَّـدِ

_Li-dhālika aqḍī fī al-wujūdi bi-asrihi / Qaḍā’a dhawī al-amlāki ghayra mufannadi_

Therefore, I command authority over all existence, a decree like that of kings, which cannot be refuted.

**12.** فَلَلْتُ شَبَاتَ الْمُعْتَدِينَ وَطَالَمَا / أُحَدِّدُ أَذْهَانًا لِإِدْرَاكِ مَقْصَــدِي

_Falaltu shabāta al-mu‘tadīna wa-ṭālamā / Uḥaddidu adhhānan li-idrāki maqṣadī_

I have blunted the blades of the transgressors, and for so long I have sharpened minds to perceive my purpose.

**13.** وَفَرَّقْتُ جَمْعًا لِلْأَبَاطِلِ جَامِعًا / لِأَشْتَاتِ أَشْوَاقٍ بِقَلْبٍ مُعَبَّـــــدِ

_Wa-farraqtu jam‘an lil-abāṭīli jāmi‘an / Li-ashtāti ashwāqin bi-qalbin mu‘abbadi_

I have dispersed the gatherings of falsehood while gathering scattered longings within a heart devoted to worship.

**14.** بِحُبِّ رَسُولِ اللّٰهِ طَــــهَ مُحَمَّدٍ / حَبِيبِ إِلَهِ الْعَالَمِينَ الْمُمَجَّــــدِ

_Bi-ḥubbi rasūli Allāhi Ṭāhā Muḥammadin / Ḥabībi ilāhi al-‘ālamīna al-mumajjadi_

Through the love of the Messenger of Allah, Taha Muhammad, the beloved of the Glorified God of the worlds.

**15.** حَبِيبٌ خَلِيلٌ تَـــمَّ مَعْنًــى وَصُـــورَةً / وَوَصْفًا وَذَاتًا خَيْرُ مَأْوًى وَمَرْصَدِ

_Ḥabībun khalīlun tamma ma‘nan wa-ṣūratan / Wa-waṣfan wa-dhātan khayru ma’wan wa-marṣadi_

A beloved and intimate friend, perfect in meaning, form, attribute, and essence—the best refuge and lookout.

**16.** تَكَامَلَ فِيهِ الْحُسْنُ غَيْبًا وَمَشْهَـدًا / فَلَيْسَ كَطَهَ الْمُصْطَفَى عِنْدَ مَشْهَدِي

_Takāmala fīhi al-ḥusnu ghayban wa-mashhadan / Fa-laysa ka-Ṭāhā al-muṣṭafā inda mashhadī_

Beauty reached perfection in him, both in the unseen and the seen; there is no vision for me but the Chosen Taha.

**17.** وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ رَبُّنَــــــا بِكَلاَمِـــــهِ / فَأَعْيَا بَلِيـــغٌ دُونَـــــهُ يَدَ مُسْنَــــدِ

_Wa-athnā ‘alayhi rabbunā bi-kalāmihi / Fa-a‘yā balīghun dūnahu yada musnadi_

Our Lord praised him in His own Speech, exhausting the eloquent who fail to reach the reach of his support.

**18.** وَيَكْفِيهِ مَدْحًا ذَاتُهُ وَصِفَاتُــــــهُ / مُحَمَّدُ فِعْلُ الْحَمْدِ مِنْ حَمْدِ أَحْمَدِ

_Wa-yakfīhi madḥan dhātuhu wa-ṣifātuhu / Muḥammadu fi‘lu al-ḥamdi min ḥamdi Aḥmadi_

His very essence and attributes suffice as praise; Muhammad is the act of praising originating from Ahmad’s praise.

**19.** عَلَيْهِ وَآلِ الصِّدْقِ أَعْلَى صَلاَتِهِ / كَذَا مَنْ بَرَاهُ الشَّوْقُ نَحْوَ مُحَمَّدِ

_‘Alayhi wa-āli aṣ-ṣidqi a‘lā ṣalātihi / Kadha man barāhu ash-shawqu naḥwa Muḥammadi_

Upon him and the family of truth be the loftiest prayers, and likewise upon everyone whom longing for Muhammad has consumed.
