**1.** وَثِقْتُ بِـرَبٍّ جَــــادَ لِي بِالْمُؤَمَّـــلِ / وَسَرَّحَ طَرْفِي فِي جَمَالِ الْمُزَمِّلِ

_Wathiqtu bi-rabbin jāda lī bi-l-mu’ammali / wa-sarraḥa ṭarfī fī jamāli al-Muzammili_

I have placed my trust in a Lord who granted me my utmost hope and allowed my eyes to wander through the beauty of the Enwrapped One (Al-Muzammil).

**2.** أُحَسِّنُ طِرْسِــــي بِامْتِدَاحِ نَبِيِّنَـــا / لِكُلِّ فَصِيحٍ مِــــنْ بَلِيـغٍ وَمِزْيَــلِ

_Uḥassinu ṭirsī bi-mtidāḥi nabiyyinā / li-kulli faṣīḥin min balīghin wa-mizyali_

I beautify my parchment by praising our Prophet for every eloquent, articulate, and discerning person to see.

**3.** وَأُسْنِدُهُ بِالصِّدْقِ مَقْصُورَ هِمَّــةٍ / بِإِنْشَاءِ مَدْحٍ مُوصَــلٍ لَمْ يُفَصَّــلِ

_Wa-usniduhu bi-ṣ-ṣidqi maqṣūra himmatin / bi-inshā’i madḥin mwaṣalin lam yufaṣṣali_

I support this praise with sincerity, limiting my ambition to composing an unbroken, continuous eulogy.

**4.** وَأَوْجَزْتُ لَوْ أَطْنَبْتُ فِي حَقِّ سَيِّدٍ / فَرِيدٍ عَدِيـــمِ الشِّبْـــهِ خَيْرِ مُؤَمَّــلِ

_Wa-awjaztu law aṭnabtu fī ḥaqqi sayyidin / farīdin ʿadīmi al-shibhi khayri mu’ammali_

I have been brief even if I were to speak at length regarding the right of a Master who is unique, peerless, and the best of those hoped for.

**5.** فَبَحْرٌ بَسِيطٌ كَامِلُ الْمَـــدِّ وَافِــرٌ / طَوِيلُ عُبَابٍ مَدْحُ طَـهَ الْمُفَضَّلِ

_Fa-baḥrun basīṭun kāmilu al-maddi wāfirun / ṭawīlu ʿubābin madḥu Ṭāhā al-mufaḍḍali_

The praise of the preferred Taha is a vast sea, perfect in its extension, abundant, and long in its waves.

**6.** أُحَسِّنُ مَدْحًا صَحَّ مَتْنًـا مُسَلْسَلاً / لِأَحْسَنِ مَمْدُوحٍ وَأَفْضَلِ مُرْسَلِ

_Uḥassinu madḥan ṣaḥḥa matnan musalsalan / li-aḥsani mamdūḥin wa-afḍali mursali_

I refine a praise that is authentic in its text and linked in its chain for the best of those praised and the most excellent of messengers.

**7.** تَوَاتَــرَ قَطْعًا أَنَّ طَــهَ مُحَمَّــــدًا / إِمَامُ جَمِيـعِ الرُّسْلِ خَيْرُ مُكَمِّــلِ

_Tawātara qaṭʿan anna Ṭāhā Muḥammadan / imāmu jamīʿi al-rusli khayru mukammili_

It is definitely established by multiple concurrent reports (tawatur) that Taha Muhammad is the leader of all messengers and the best of perfecters.

**8.** وَهُو فَاتِحٌ وَالْخَتْمُ أَحْمَدُ نَاصِرِي / هَدَانِي إِلَى ذَاكَ الْجَمَالِ الْمُجَمَّلِ

_Wa-huwa fātiḥun wa-l-khatmu Aḥmadu nāṣirī / hadānī ilā dhāka al-jamāli al-mujammali_

He is the Opener and the Seal; Ahmad is my helper who guided me to that beautified beauty.

**9.** أُحِبُّ وَرَبِّ الْبَيْتِ أَحْمَـــــدَ سَيِّــدِي / وَزِينَةَ رُوحِي وَهْوَ كَهْفِي وَمَوْئِـلِي

_Uḥibbu wa-rabbi al-bayti Aḥmada sayyidī / wa-zīnata rūḥī wa-huwa kahfī wa-maw’ilī_

I love—by the Lord of the House—Ahmad, my master and the adornment of my soul, for he is my cave and my refuge.

**10.** وَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَشْفِي مِنَ الْحُبِّ وَهْوَ فِي / أَبِي الْكَوْنِ وَالْأَرْوَاحِ أَجْـــــوَدِ مُجْـــزِلِ

_Wa-man dhā alladhī yashfī min al-ḥubbi wa-huwa fī / abi al-kawni wa-l-arwāḥi ajwadi mujzili_

And who can be cured of love when that love is for the Father of the Universe and souls, the most generous bestower?

**11.** وَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَشْفِي مِنَ الْحُبِّ وَهْوَ فِي / حَبِيــــبِ إِلَـــــهِ الْعَـالَمِـيــــنَ الْمُبَـجَّــــلِ

_Wa-man dhā alladhī yashfī min al-ḥubbi wa-huwa fī / ḥabībi ilāhi al-ʿālamīna al-mubajjali_

And who can be cured of love when that love is for the exalted Beloved of the God of the worlds?

**12.** لَهُ خُطَّتَا لَوْلاَكَ سَـــلْ تُعْـــطَ وَاشْفَعَـــنْ / تُشَفَّعْ وَعَمْـــــرِي ذَاكَ أَرْفَـــعُ مَنْـــزِلِ

_Lahu khuṭṭatā lawlāka sal tuʿṭa wa-shfaʿan / tushaffaʿ wa-ʿamrī dhāka arfaʿu manzili_

To him belong the two stations: "Were it not for you..." and "Ask, you shall be given; intercede, your intercession shall be accepted"—by my life, that is the highest of ranks.

**13.** وَحَازَ لِوَاءَ الْحَمْــــدِ وَالْفَخْـــرِ سَيِّــــدًا / لِلْآبَـــــــاءِ وَالْآبْنَــــاءِ أَفْضَــــلُ مَوْئِـــلِ

_Wa-ḥāza liwā’a al-ḥamdi wa-l-fakhri sayyidan / li-l-ābā’i wa-l-abnā’i afḍalu maw’ili_

He has gained the Banner of Praise and Glory as a master and the best refuge for both ancestors and descendants.

**14.** فَبَرْهَــــامُ هَـــذَا الْعَبْـــدُ فِيـــهِ تَشَفَّعَــــنْ / وَفِي صَحْبِـــهِ فِـــي عَاجِــلٍ وَمُؤَجَّــلِ

_Fa-Barhāmu hādhā al-ʿabdu fīhi tashaffaʿan / wa-fī ṣaḥbihi fī ʿājilin wa-mu’ajjali_

So Barham, this servant, seeks intercession through him and through his companions, in the immediate present and the future.

**15.** فَبَرْهَامُ هَـــــذَا الْعَبْــــدُ فِيـــــهِ تَشَفَّعَـــنْ / فَلَمْ يَرْجُ غَيْرَ الْمُصْطَفَى مِــــنْ مُؤَمَّـــلِ

_Fa-Barhāmu hādhā al-ʿabdu fīhi tashaffaʿan / falam yarju ghayra al-Muṣṭafā min mu’ammali_

So Barham, this servant, seeks intercession through him, for he hopes for no one other than the Chosen One.

**16.** وَصَـــلِّ أَيَـا مَــوْلاَيَ مِقْــــدَارَ قَــــدْرِهِ / عَلَـــى مَـــنْ هَدَانِــي لِلْجَمِيلِ الْمُجَمِّـــلِ

_Wa-ṣalli ayā mawlāya miqdāra qadrihi / ʿalā man hadānī lil-jamīli al-mujammili_

O my Protector, send blessings according to the measure of his worth upon the one who guided me to the Beautiful One who beautifies.

**17.** وَصَــلِّ أَيَا مَـــوْلاَيَ مِقْــــدَارَ قَــــدْرِهِ / عَلَى مَــنْ هَدَانِـــي لِلْكَمِيلِ الْمُكَمِّـــلِ

_Wa-ṣalli ayā mawlāya miqdāra qadrihi / ʿalā man hadānī lil-kamīli al-mukammili_

O my Protector, send blessings according to the measure of his worth upon the one who guided me to the Perfect One who perfects.

**18.** وَآلٍ وَأَصْحَـــابٍ كِــــــــرَامٍ أَمَاجِــــدٍ / وَمَنْ سَلَكُوا نَهْــــجَ الْأَمِيــنِ الْمُزَمِّــــلِ

_Wa-ālin wa-aṣḥābin kirāmin amājidi / wa-man salakū nahja al-Amīni al-Muzammili_

And upon the noble and glorious Family and Companions, and all those who followed the path of the Trustworthy Enwrapped One.
