زَمَانِيَ لاَ أَنْفَكُّ أُهْـــدِي الْقَوَافِيَـا
لِمَنْ قَدْ صَفَا لِلْحَقِّ بِالْحَـقِّ وَافِيَا
Zamāniya lā anfakku uhdī al-qawāfiyā
li-man qad ṣafā lil-ḥaqqi bi-l-ḥaqqi wāfiyā
Throughout my life, I never cease to offer these rhymes to him who was pure for the Truth and faithful to the Truth.
أُجَالِسُهُ دَهْرِي بِرُوحِــي وَرُوحِـــهِ
وَهَلْ مَجْلِسُ الْأَشْبَاحِ قَدْ حَانَ تَالِيَا
Ujālisuhu dahrī bi-rūḥī wa-rūḥihi
wa-hal majlisu al-ashbāḥi qad ḥāna tāliyā
I sit with him all my days, soul to soul; for has the time not come for the gathering of spirits to follow the gathering of bodies?
أَرَانِي إِذَا وَافَيْـــتُ أَحْمَـــدَ زَائِـــرًا
سَأَقْضِــــي لُبَانَـاتِ الْفُــؤَادِ مَثَانِيَــا
Arāniya idhā wāfaytu Aḥmada zā’iran
sa-aqḍī lubānāti al-fu’ādi mathāniyā
I see that when I reach Ahmad as a visitor, I shall fulfill the deep yearnings of my heart again and again.
فَشَحِّذْ لِذَاكَ الْعَزْمَ وَارْكَـبْ شِمِلَّــةً
فَتُدْنِيكَ مِنْ بَطْحَاءِ مَا كَانَ قَاصِيَا
Fa-shaḥḥidh li-dhāka al-ʿazma wa-rkab shimillatan
fa-tudnīka min baṭḥā’i mā kāna qāṣiyā
So sharpen your resolve for that journey and mount a swift camel; it will bring you near to the valley that once seemed so distant.
وَيُدْنِيكَ مِنْ أَرْضِ الْحَبِيبِ رَسِيمُهَا
تُمَــــرِّغُ خَـــدًّا بِالضَّرِيــحِ مُنَاجِيَــا
Wa-yudnīka min arḍi al-ḥabībi rasīmuhā
tumarrighu khaddan bi-ḍ-ḍarīḥi munājiyā
Its rhythmic pace will bring you closer to the land of the Beloved, where you may press your cheek against the tomb in intimate prayer.
فَصِدْقٌ وَصِدِّيقٌ جَلِيسَاكَ بَعْـــدَ ذَا
شَهِيدٌ فَطِبْتَ النَّفْسَ لِلنَّفْــسِ شَافِيَــا
Fa-ṣidqun wa-ṣiddīqun jalīsāka baʿda dhā
shahīdun fa-ṭibta al-nafsa lil-nafsi shāfiyā
Sincerity and the Siddiq (Abu Bakr) shall be your companions there, along with the Martyr (Umar); so be of good cheer, for the soul has found its healer.
فَقَدِّرْ لِبَرْحِ الشَّوْقِ وَالْحُبِّ قَــــدْرَهُ
فَتَبْكِي بِمَا يُزْرِي الْمُزُونَ الْبَوَاكِيَـا
Fa-qaddir li-barḥi al-shawqi wa-l-ḥubbi qadrahu
fa-tabkī bi-mā yuzrī al-muzūna al-bawākiyā
Measure the intensity of your longing and love truly, and you will weep with tears that put the pouring rain clouds to shame.
سَلاَمٌ عَلَى رَوْضِ الْحَبِيبِ وَبَعْدَهُ
سَلاَمٌ عَلَى رَوْضِ الَّذِي كَانَ ثَانِيَا
Salāmun ʿalā rawḍi al-ḥabībi wa-baʿdahu
salāmun ʿalā rawḍi alladhī kāna thāniyā
Peace be upon the Garden (Rawda) of the Beloved, and after that, peace be upon the Garden of the one who was his Second.
سَلاَمٌ عَلَى رَوْضِ الشَّهِيدِ سِرَاجِنَـــا
سَلاَمٌ عَلَى الْأَحْبَابِ حَازُوا الْمَعَالِيَـا
Salāmun ʿalā rawḍi al-shahīdi sirājinā
salāmun ʿalā al-aḥbābi ḥāzū al-maʿāliyā
Peace be upon the Garden of the Martyr, our lamp; peace be upon the loved ones who attained the highest ranks.
سَلاَمٌ عَلَى زَوْجِ الْبَتُولِ وَزَوْجِــهِ
وَثَالِـثِ أَرْكَــانِ الْخِلاَفَــةِ سَامِيَــا
Salāmun ʿalā zawji al-batūli wa-zawjihi
wa-thālithi arkāni al-khilāfati sāmiyā
Peace be upon the husband of the Virgin (Ali) and his wife (Fatima), and the third of the pillars of the Caliphate (Uthman), the exalted.
سَلاَمٌ عَلَى أَهْـــلِ الْبَقِيـعِ جَمِيعِهِـمْ
يُحَيِّيهِــــــمُ تَيْــــمٌ بِأَفْـــرِكَ ثَاوِيَــا
Salāmun ʿalā ahli al-Baqīʿi jamīʿihim
yuḥayyīhimu Taymun bi-Afrika thāwiyā
Peace be upon all the inhabitants of Al-Baqi' (the cemetery of Medina); a servant (Teym) greets them while residing in Africa.
رِيَاضٌ أَرِيضَـــةٌ دِيَـــارُ أَحِبَّتِـــي
وَأَذْكَتْ نِيَارَ الشَّوْقِ لِلْقَلْبِ صَالِيَا
Riyāḍun arīḍatun diyāru aḥibbatī
wa-adhkat niyāra al-shawqi lil-qalbi ṣāliyā
The homes of my beloved ones are lush, fertile gardens; they have kindled the fires of longing to burn within my heart.
وَقَى اللّٰهُ سُفْنًـــا بَلَّغَتْنِــي بِلاَدَهُــمْ
بِعَامِي فَدَتْهَا النُّوقُ تَمْلاَ السَّوَاقِيَا
Waqā Allāhu sufnan ballaghatnī bilādahum
bi-ʿāmī fadat-hā al-nūqu tamla al-sawāqiyā
May Allah protect the ships that carried me to their lands in my year; may they be ransomed by camels that fill the paths.
مُحَمَّدُ يَاسِيــــنٌ وَأَحْمَـــدُ حَاشِـــرٌ
وَعَاقِبُ وَالْهَادِي نَفَى الْكُفْرَ مَاحِيَا
Muḥammadu Yāsīn wa-Aḥmadu Ḥāshirun
wa-ʿĀqibu wa-l-Hādī nafā al-kufra māḥiyā
Muhammad, Yasin, Ahmad the Gatherer, the Final One (Aqib), and the Guide who erased disbelief as the "Eraser."
عَلَيْـــهِ صَلاَةُ اللّٰهِ مِـــنْ كُـــلِّ ذَرَّةٍ
كَـــــذَاكَ سَــلاَمٌ لِلصَّــلاَةِ مُحَاكِيَــا
ʿAlayhi ṣalātu Allāhi min kulli dharratin
kadhālika salāmun li-ṣ-ṣalāti muḥākiyā
Upon him be the blessings of Allah from every atom, and likewise a peace that mirrors those blessings.
عَلَيْهِ صَلاَةُ اللّٰهِ فِــــي كُلِّ لَحْظَــةٍ
عَدِيدَ أَسَامِي الْإِسْمِ إِذْ كَانَ عَالِيَا
ʿAlayhi ṣalātu Allāhi fī kulli laḥẓatin
ʿadīda asāmī al-ismi idh kāna ʿāliyā
Upon him be the blessings of Allah in every moment, as numerous as the names of the Divine Name, for it is most high.
عَلَيْكَ صَلاَةٌ مِنْكَ نَحْوَكَ سَيِّـــدِي
كَــذَاكَ سَلاَمٌ لِلصَّــــلاَةِ مُسَاوِيَــا
ʿAlayka ṣalātun minka naḥwaka sayyidī
kadhālika salāmun li-ṣ-ṣalāti musāwiyā
Upon you be a prayer from You (Allah) toward you, my Master; and likewise a peace equal to that prayer.
عَلَيْكَ صَلاَةُ الْغَيْبِ بِالْغَيْبِ دَائِمًا
كَــذَاكَ سَــلاَمٌ لِلصَّلاَةِ مُجَارِيَــــا
ʿAlayka ṣalātu al-ghaybi bi-l-ghaybi dā’iman
kadhālika salāmun li-ṣ-ṣalāti mujāriyā
Upon you be the prayer of the Unseen through the Unseen eternally; and likewise a peace that flows alongside that prayer.
وَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ غَيْــبُ غَيْبٍ بِغَيْبِــهِ
وَأَسْرَارِهِ سِرًّا وَجَهْرًا وَخَافِيَا
Wa-ṣallā ʿalayhi ghaybu ghaybin bi-ghaybihi
wa-asrārihi sirran wa-jahran wa-khāfiyā
The "Unseen of the Unseen" prayed upon him through His Unseen, and His secrets—secretly, openly, and hidden.
وَصَلَّى جَمِيعُ الْكَائِنَـاتِ بِأَسْرِهَـــا
عَلَى أَحْمَدَ الْمَحْمُودِ مَنْ جَاءَ هَادِيَا
Wa-ṣallā jamīʿu al-kā’ināti bi-asrihā
ʿalā Aḥmada al-maḥmūdi man jā’a hādiyā
All created beings in their entirety prayed upon Ahmad the Praised, the one who came as a guide.
وَآلٍ وَأَصْحَابٍ مَدَى قَــوْلِ خَــادِمٍ
زَمَانِيَ لاَ أَنْفَــــكُّ أُهْـــدِي الْقَوَافِيَا
Wa-ālin wa-aṣḥābin madā qawli khādimin
Zamāniya lā anfakku uhdī al-qawāfiyā
And upon the Family and Companions, as long as a servant says: "Throughout my life, I never cease to offer these rhymes."
