Harful Haa ·

From Ad-Dawaawiinu s-Sitta · الدواوين الست by Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass

Balā inna ḥubba al-Hāshimiyyi rabāḥu
Wa-madḥī lahu siḥrun arāhu mubāḥu

Indeed, the love of the Hashemite is a great gain, and my praise for him is a magic that I deem lawful.

Wa-khamrun ḥalālun lil-ghabūqi wa-balha mā
Siwāhu fa-fīhi lil-nadīmi junāḥu

It is a permissible wine for the evening drink—never mind any other—for in anything else, the cup-companion finds only sin.

Wa-niltu bihi kulla al-murādāti innanī
Atānī bi-madḥī lil-Amīni najāḥu

Through him, I have attained all my desires; indeed, through my praise for the Trustworthy one, success has come to me.

Ujālisuhu mahmā ṣafā lī majālisī
Wa-yajburu kasra al-ghayri minhu ṣalāḥu

I sit in his presence whenever my gatherings become pure, and his righteousness mends the brokenness caused by others.

Ujālisu bil-amdāḥi sirrī wa-‘umdatī
Muḥammadu man huwa lil-mahīḍi janāḥu

Through these praises, I sit with my secret and my support: Muhammad, who is a wing for the one with broken wings.

Fa-yanṣuru maẓlūman wa-yuksibu dā’iman
Li-dhī ‘adamin lil-khalqi minhu falāḥu

He aids the oppressed and always provides for the destitute; through him, all of creation finds prosperity.

From him, I receive ease after every hardship, and how could it be otherwise when I find no departure from him despite my ailments?

Yuḥawwilu khayru al-nāsi ḥālī wa-innahu
Yajī’u bu‘ayda al-layli minhu ṣabāḥu

The best of mankind transforms my state; surely, shortly after the night, his dawn arrives.

Fa-innī dhalīlun ‘ājizun mutamassikun
Bi-dhayli alladhī lil-kufri minhu rimāḥu

For I am lowly, helpless, and clinging to the cloak-tail of the one whose spears pierce through disbelief.

Kafānī bi-madḥi al-Hāshimiyyi wa-azdarī
Siwāhu wa-lī ba‘da al-ghuduwwi rawāḥu

The praise of the Hashemite suffices me, and I look down upon all else; for me, after the morning journey, there is a peaceful evening return.

‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu
Yarūqu madīḥī fīhi wa-huwa rabāḥu

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; my praise for him is delightful and is itself a profit.

‘Alayhi ma‘a al-āli al-kirāmi wa-ṣaḥbihi
Ṣalātun ka-ṭībi al-miski ḥīna yufāḥu

Upon him, along with the noble family and his companions, be a prayer like the scent of musk when it spreads.
