Ad-Dwaad Aydwan ·
From Ad-Dawaawiinu s-Sitta · الدواوين الست by Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass
Shujūnun dahatnī sayyaratnī li-man nahaḍ
Li-tafrīji karbi al-mukrabīna wa-man nahaḍ
Griefs have beset me and driven me toward the one who rose up to relieve the distress of the afflicted, the one who stood for us.
Salawtu shujūnī fī madīḥi Muḥammadin
Fa-zāḥa shujūnī wal-surūru atā ‘iwaḍ
I found solace from my griefs in the praise of Muhammad; so my sorrows vanished and joy came as a substitute.
Muḥammadu khayru al-nāsi akramu maḥtidan
Wa-far‘an wa-badhlan wa-huwa lillāhi qad maḥaḍ
Muhammad is the best of mankind, the most noble in origin and in lineage, the most generous, and he is purely devoted to Allah.
Aghithnī aghithnī Munḥaminnā wa-dārikan
Li-aḥwāli ‘abdin ghayra ‘ahdika mā qabaḍ
Succor me, succor me, O Munhaminna, and take charge of the affairs of a servant who has held onto no covenant but yours.
A-tatruku ‘abdan lā yuḥibbu siwākumu
‘Alā sū’i ḥālin fa-huwa lā yabtaghī al-‘iwaḍ
Would you leave a servant who loves none besides you in such a wretched state, when he seeks no substitute for you?
Fa-farrij kurūbī wa-ṭwi kulla mahāmihin
Li-qurbi mazāri al-Muṣṭafā ḥaythumā nahaḍ
So relieve my distresses and fold up all the vast deserts that lie between me and the proximity of the Chosen One’s shrine, wherever he rose.
‘Alayka ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu
Wa-ālin wa-ṣaḥbin ḥubbuhum khayru muftaraḍ
Upon you be the prayer of Allah and then His peace, and upon the family and companions whose love is the best of obligations.
