Al-Miim Aydwan ·

From Ad-Dawaawiinu s-Sitta · الدواوين الست by Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass

Maḥā min fu’ādī ḥubba Laylā wa-Tandami
Widādu al-Imāmi al-Hāshimiyyi al-mufakh-khami

The affection of the magnificent Hashemite Imam has erased from my heart the love of "Layla" and "Tandam."

Ḥadā biya ḥādī al-‘āshiqīna bi-dhikrihi
Ruwaydaka rifqan bil-muḥibbi al-mutayyami

The driver of the lovers' caravan has urged me on with his remembrance; go slowly, be gentle with the enslaved lover.

Muḥammadu Maḥmūdun Muḥammadu Aḥmadun
Muḥammadu Mukhtārun ḥabību al-Muqaddimi

Muhammad is Maḥmūd (the Praised), Muhammad is Ahmad, Muhammad is the Chosen, the beloved of the One who brings forward.

Muḥammadu Ṭāhā ‘Āqibun wa-huwa Muṣṭafā
Bashīrun Nadhīrun ḍayghamun ayyu ḍayghami

Muhammad is Taha, the Final, and he is the Elect; a bearer of glad tidings, a warner, a lion—and what a lion!

Da‘ānī hawā al-Māḥī al-sirāji wa-innanī
Bi-dhanbiya ma‘qūlun fa-man lī bi-sullami

The passion for the "Eraser," the Lamp, has called me; but I am shackled by my sins—so who will provide me with a ladder?

Rasūlun Amīnun wa-huwa Hādin wa-raḥmatu
Abū al-Qāsimi al-manṣūru tursī wa-ashhumī

A trustworthy Messenger, a Guide, and a Mercy; Abul Qasim the Victorious is my shield and my arrows.

Sarā al-Muṣṭafā laylan wa-wāfā bi-khamsatin
‘Arajnā bihā wal-faḍlu lil-mutaqaddimi

The Chosen One traveled by night and brought back the Five [prayers]; through them, we ascended—and the grace belongs to the Foremost one.

Wa-awṣā bihā ‘inda al-‘urūji mu’akkidan
Fa-fīhā yanālu al-‘abdu kulla al-taqaddumi

He emphasized them during his Ascension with certainty; for in them, the servant attains all progress.

Lahu wa-bihi qum warka‘anna tawāḍu‘an
Tarā qurratan lil-‘ayni min khayri mun‘imi

For him and through him, stand and bow in humility; you will see the "coolness of the eyes" from the Best of Benefactors.

Idhā qumta min ba‘di al-wuḍū’i murat-tilan
Wa-tasjudu min ba‘di al-rukū‘i al-mu‘aẓ-ẓami

When you stand after ablution, reciting rhythmically, and prostrate after the magnificent bowing,

La-qad ṭuwiyat ‘anka al-masāfatu jahratan
Waṣalta ila al-maḥbūbi kabbir wa-‘aẓ-ẓimi

The distance has been folded for you openly; you have reached the Beloved, so declare His greatness and magnify Him.

Li-rabbī ilāhi al-‘arshi shukrun mu’abbadun
‘Alā al-Muṣṭafā al-Mukhtāri sirrī al-mukat-tami

To my Lord, the God of the Throne, be eternal thanks for the Chosen One, my concealed secret.

Usā’iluhu taḥqīqa mā kuntu rājiyan
Li-dīnī wa-dunyā’ī bi-Ṭāhā al-mufakh-khami

I ask Him to fulfill what I have been hoping for, regarding my religion and my worldly life, through the magnificent Taha.

Hadāyāya takthīru al-ṣalāti musalliman
‘Alā dhālika al-kanzi al-‘aẓīmi al-muṭalsami

My gifts are the abundance of my prayers and peace upon that great, "Talismanic" Treasure.
