Harfun Nuun ·
From Ad-Dawaawiinu s-Sitta · الدواوين الست by Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass
Thawā liya ḥubbī dhāka wa-huwa al-mubayyinu
Li-mā shara‘a al-mawlā wa-inniya mūminu
That love of mine has taken residence [in my heart], and he is the one who makes clear what the Master has legislated, and I am a believer.
Wa-dhāka al-Makkiy al-nūru al-sirāju bi-ḥubbihi
Ṣubightu bihi wal-ṣibghu bil-ḥubbi aḥsanu
That Meccan Light, the Lamp—through his love I have been dyed, and the dye of love is the most beautiful.
Fa-man lī bi-sayrin fī al-ḥajīji li-Ṭaybatin
U‘affiru khaddan fī al-riyāḍi wa-uḥsinu
Who will grant me a journey among the pilgrims to Tayba (Medina), that I may cover my cheek with dust in the Gardens and find excellence?
Fa-man lī wa-dhanbī kal-quyūdi bi-waqfatin
Ladā qabri khayri al-nāsi wa-huwa al-muzayyanu
Who will grant me—while my sins are like shackles—a standing before the grave of the best of mankind, which is adorned?
Fa-man lī wa-qad hāja ishtiyāqī bi-zawratin
Afukku bihā qayda al-dhunūbi wa-u‘linu
Who will grant me—as my longing has been stirred—a visitation through which I may break the chains of sins and declare [my devotion]?
Fa-innī wa-tehyāmī wa-wajdī wa-maghramī
Urajjī liqan idh ḥawla dhāka udandinu
For I, with my infatuation, my ecstasy, and my passion, hope for a meeting, for it is around that goal that I hum.
‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu
Li-abqā wa-inniya mu’minun bika muḥsinu
Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace, so that I may remain; and indeed I am a believer in you, an attainer of excellence.
‘Alayhi ma‘a al-āli al-kirāmi wa-ṣaḥbihi
Ṣalātun wa-taslīmun li-ḥubbī mubayyinu
Upon him, along with the noble family and his companions, be prayer and peace that make my love manifest.
