# Harful Yaa · حَرْفُ الْيَاءِ

**1.** ضَعِيفٌ حَقِيرٌ مُذْنِبٌ جَاءَ شَاكِيَا / أَتَاكَ رَسُولَ اللّٰهِ لِلْمَــدْحِ حَاكِيَــا

_Ḍa‘īfun ḥaqīrun mudhnibun jā’a shākiyā / Atāka Rasūla Allāhi lil-madḥi ḥākiyā_

A weak, lowly, sinful one has come complaining; he has come to you, O Messenger of Allah, recounting your praise.

**2.** فَهَلْ يَقْبَلَنْ خَيْرُ الْوَرَى ذَاكَ شَافِعًا / لَهُ كُلَّ وَقْـــــتٍ أَمْ يُنِيــلُ الْمَعَالِيَــا

_Fa-hal yaqbalan khayru al-warā dhāka shāfi‘an / Lahu kulla waqtin am yunīlu al-ma‘āliyā_

Will the Best of Creation accept him as an intercessor for all time, or grant him high spiritual ranks?

**3.** فَإِنِّي وَرَاءَ السَّائِرِينَ وَأَرْتَجِي / تَذَكُّرَ خَيْرِ الْخَلْقِ مِنْـهُ أَمَامِيَــا

_Fa-innī warā’a al-sā’irīna wa-artajī / Tadhakkura khayri al-khalqi minhu amāmiyā_

For I am far behind those who are traveling [the path], yet I hope that the Best of Mankind will remember me and be before me.

**4.** وَلَمْ أَتَزَوَّدْ غَيْرَ دَعْوَى مَحَبَّةٍ / وَلاَ عَمَلٌ يَأْتِي بِصِدْقِ مَقَالِيَا

_Wa-lam atazaw-wad ghayra da‘wā maḥabbatin / Wa-lā ‘amalun ya’tī bi-ṣidqi maqāliyā_

I have taken no provisions except for the claim of love; and I have no deed to prove the truth of my words.

**5.** فَقَدْ فَاتَنِـــي حَتَّــــى التَّــدَارُكُ لاَ أَرَى / سِوَى الْمُصْطَفَى الْـهَادِي يُدَارِكُ حَالِيَا

_Fa-qad fātanī ḥatta al-tadāruku lā arā / Siwa al-Muṣṭafa al-Hādī yudāriku ḥāliyā_

Even the ability to catch up has escaped me; I see none but the Chosen Guide to reach out and rectify my state.

**6.** أَجِرْنِـيَ مِنْ نَفْسٍ أَرَاهَا خَبِيثَــةً / فَكُلُّ زَمَانٍ مَا تَسُومُ الرَّدَى لِيَا

_Ajirniya min nafsin arāhā khabīthatan / Fa-kulla zamānin mā tasūmu al-radā liyā_

Protect me from a soul that I see as base; for in every moment, it offers nothing but destruction for me.

**7.** فَتُنْقِذُنِي مِنْ شُؤْمِهَا لاَ تَضُرُّنِي / قَبَائِحُهَا إِذْ ذِكْرُ طَـــهَ جَلاَئِيَـــا

_Fa-tunqidhnī min shu’mihā lā taḍurrunī / Qabā’iḥuhā idh dhikru Ṭāhā jalā’iyā_

So rescue me from its ill-omen, so that its ugliness does not harm me, since the remembrance of Taha is my purification.

**8.** عَلَيْـــهِ صَــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / تُـهَـيَّـأُ لِي لُقْيَــا الْأَمِيـــنِ إِمَامِيَـا

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Tuhayyā’u lī luqyā al-Amīni imāmiyā_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; may the meeting with the Trustworthy one, my Imam, be prepared for me.

**9.** عَلَيْهِ مَعَ الْآلِ الْكِرَامِ وَصَحْبِــهِ / صَلاَةٌ وَتَسْلِيمٌ مَدَى الدَّهْرِ بَاقِيَا

_‘Alayhi ma‘a al-āli al-kirāmi wa-ṣaḥbihi / Ṣalātun wa-taslīmun madā al-dahri bāqiyā_

Upon him, along with the noble family and his companions, be prayer and peace, remaining throughout all time.
