# Harful Kaaf · حَرْفُ الْكَافِ

**1.** كَفَيْتُ صِحَابِي فِي الطَّرِيقِ عَنَاءَا / فَكُلُّهُــــمُ بِالْجَــــذْبِ نَـــالَ مُنَــاءَا

_Kafaytu ṣiḥābī fī al-ṭarīqi ‘anā’ā / Fa-kulluhumu bil-jadhbi nāla munā’ā_

I have spared my companions the exhaustion of the path; for all of them, through spiritual attraction, attained their desires.

**2.** وَلَمْ يَكُ لِلْأَقْطَابِ قَبْلِيَ مِثْلَ مَـــا / لِذَا الْعَبْدِ مِنْ فَيْضٍ يَرُوقُ سَنَـاءَا

_Wa-lam yaku lil-aqṭābi qablī mithla mā / Li-dhā al-‘abdi min fayḍin yarūqu sanā’ā_

None of the spiritual Poles before me possessed the likes of the overflow of grace that this servant has—radiant in its brilliance.

**3.** وَأَشْكُرُ رَبِّي لَيْسَ سِرِّيَ عَاقِــرًا / فَأَصْغَـــرُ أَتْبَاعِـــي أُنِيــلَ فَنَــاءَا

_Wa-ashkuru rabbī laysa sirrī ‘āqiran / Fa-asgharu atbā‘ī unīla fanā’ā_

I thank my Lord that my secret is not barren; for even the smallest of my followers has been granted Annihilation.

**4.** وَذَلِكَ مِنْ حُبِّ الرَّسُولِ وَسِرِّهِ / بِسَرْدِي لَهُ الْأَمْدَاحَ حُزْتُ لِوَاءَا

_Wa-dhālika min ḥubbi al-rasūli wa-sirrihi / Bi-sardī lahu al-amdāḥa ḥuztu liwā’ā_

That is due to the love of the Messenger and his secret; by my constant recitation of his praises, I have seized the banner.

**5.** فَإِكْسِيرُ هَــذَا الْعَبْدِ حُبُّ مُحَمَّــدٍ / وَكَنْزِيَ أَنْ أُثْنِي عَلَيْـــهِ ثَنَــاءَا

_Fa-iksīru hādhā al-‘abdi ḥubbu Muḥammadin / Wa-kanziya an uthniya ‘alayhi thanā’ā_

The alchemy of this servant is the love of Muhammad; and my treasure is to offer him praise upon praise.

**6.** وَذَلِكَ جَيْشِي وَهْوَ دِرْعِي وَمِغْفَرِي / وَإِنْ مَسَّنِــــي دَاءٌ أَجِـــــــــدْهُ دَوَاءَا

_Wa-dhālika jayshī wa-huwa dir‘ī wa-mighfarī / Wa-in massanī dā’un ajid-hu dawā’ā_

That is my army, my shield, and my helmet; if any disease touches me, I find it to be my medicine.

**7.** وَذَا طَاعَتِي دَهْرِي وَصَوْمِي وَحَجَّتِي / وَفِيهِ صَلاَتِـــــي مِنْــهُ نِلْــــتُ غِنَـــاءَا

_Wa-dhā ṭā‘atī dahrī wa-ṣawmī wa-ḥajjatī / Wa-fīhi ṣalātī minhu niltu ghinā’ā_

This is my lifelong obedience, my fasting, and my pilgrimage; in it is my prayer, and from him, I attained sufficiency.

**8.** وَذَلِكَ حَرْثِي وَهْوَ بَيْعِي وَثَرْوَتِي / وَأَكْلِي وَشُرْبِي مِنْهُ نِلْــتُ رِوَاءَا

_Wa-dhālika ḥarthī wa-huwa bay‘ī wa-tharwatī / Wa-aklī wa-shurbī minhu niltu riwā’ā_

This is my harvest, my trade, and my wealth; my food and my drink, from which I attained quenching.

**9.** فَلَمْ أَرْجُ مَخْلُوقًا سِوَى الْبَدْرِ سَيِّـدِي / مُحَمَّـــــــدٍ الْمَـاحِــي الْمُنِيــلِ وَلاَءَا

_Fa-lam arju makhlūqan siwā al-badri sayyidī / Muḥammadin al-māḥī al-munīli walā’ā_

I have placed no hope in any creature except the Full Moon, my master Muhammad, the Eraser, who grants proximity.

**10.** وَقَدْ شَدَّ فَقْرِي وَاغْتِرَابِي وَفَاقَتِي / وَلَمْ أَطْمَعَنْ مِنْ غَيْرِ طَـهَ عَطَاءَا

_Wa-qad shadda faqrī wa-ghtirābī wa-fāqatī / Wa-lam aṭma‘an min ghayri Ṭāhā ‘aṭā’ā_

My poverty, estrangement, and destitution have become severe; yet I have not craved a gift from anyone other than Taha.

**11.** عَلَيْـــهِ صَــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــمَّ سَلاَمُــــهُ / صَلاَةً بِهَا أَجْنِي جَنًــى وَجَــدَاءَا

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Ṣalātan bihā ajnī janan wa-jadā’ā_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; a prayer through which I gather fruits and bounty.

**12.** عَلَيْـــــهِ صَــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / صَلاَةً بِهَا يُعْطِي الْأَمِيــنُ حِبَاءَا

_‘Alayka ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Ṣalātan bihā yu‘ṭī al-amīnu ḥibā’ā_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; a prayer through which the Trustworthy One grants gifts.

**13.** عَلَيْهِ صَـــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / صَلاَةً بِهَــــا لَمْ أَلْــقَ بَعْـدُ عَنَاءَا

_‘Alayka ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Ṣalātan bihā lam alqa ba‘du ‘anā’ā_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; a prayer through which I shall never encounter exhaustion again.

**14.** عَلَيْـــهِ صَــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / صَلاَةً يَنَالُ الْقَلْـــبُ مِنْهَـا جِلاَءَا

_‘Alayka ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Ṣalātan yanālu al-qalbu minhā jilā’ā_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; a prayer through which the heart attains its polishing.

**15.** عَلَيْهِ صَـــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / لِسُقْمِي وَأَمْرَاضِي تَكُونُ شِفَاءَا

_‘Alayka ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Li-suqmī wa-amrāḍī takūnu shifā’ā_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; may it be a cure for my ailments and my diseases.

**16.** عَلَيْــــهِ صَـــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / صَلاَةً عَلَى الْهَادِي تَكُونُ جَزَاءَا

_‘Alayka ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Ṣalātan ‘ala al-hādī takūnu jazā’ā_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; may the prayer upon the Guide be my recompense.

**17.** عَلَيْــــهِ صَـــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / صَـــلاَةً بِهَا رُوحِي يَنَــالُ غِذَاءَا

_‘Alayka ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Ṣalātan bihā rūḥī yanālu ghidhā’ā_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; a prayer through which my soul receives its nourishment.

**18.** عَلَيْـــهِ صَــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــمَّ سَلاَمُـــهُ / وَآلٍ وَصَحْبٍ مُصْطَفِينَ صَفَاءَا

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Wa-ālin wa-ṣaḥbin muṣṭafayna ṣafā’ā_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace, and upon the family and the companions, chosen in their purity.
