# Harfud Dwaad · حَرْفُ الضَّادِ

**1.** ضَمِنْتُ مَدِيحَ الْـهَاشِمِيِّ وَقَدْ رَشَّا / قَدِيمًا بِقَلْبِي نُورُ أَمْدَاحِــــهِ رَشَّــا

_Ḍamintu madīḥa al-Hāshimiyyi wa-qad rashshā / Qadīman bi-qalbī nūru amdāḥihi rashshā_

I have committed to the praise of the Hashemite, for long ago the light of his praises was sprinkled upon my heart.

**2.** وَذَلِــــكَ مَحْمُـــودُ الْمَقَــــامِ وَإِنَّـــهُ / أَمَانِي مَدَى الْأَيَّامِ عَنْ كُلِّ مَا يُخْشَى

_Wa-dhālika Maḥmūdu al-maqāmi wa-innahu / Amānī madā al-ayyāmi ‘an kulli mā yukhshā_

He is the possessor of the Praiseworthy Station, and indeed he is my security throughout the days against all that is feared.

**3.** حَمَا عَنْ جَنَابِي كُلَّ ظُلْمٍ وَظُلْمَــــةٍ / وَزَحْزَحَ عَنِّي الْغِلَّ وَالْحِقْدَ وَالْغِشَّا

_Ḥamā ‘an janābī kulla ẓulmin wa-ẓulmatin / Wa-zaḥzaḥa ‘annī al-ghilla wal-ḥiqda wal-ghishshā_

He protected my side from every injustice and darkness, and removed from me malice, hatred, and deceit.

**4.** وَأَشْرَقَ بِالْأَنْـــــوَارِ قَلْبِـــي وَقَالَبِـــي / مُحَمَّدُ شَمْسُ الدِّينِ مَنْ قَدْ أَضَا الْغَطْشَا

_Wa-ashraqa bil-anwāri qalbī wa-qālabī / Muḥammadu shamsu al-dīni man qad aḍā al-ghaṭshā_

My heart and my physical form shone with lights; Muhammad is the Sun of Religion who illuminated the pitch blackness.

**5.** فَإِنْ عَمِيَ الْأَقْوَامُ يَوْمًا وَأَمْرَقُوا / فَلِي قَائِدٌ مِنْ نُورِهِ وَسَطَ الْمَمْشَى

_Fa-in ‘amiya al-aqwāmu yawman wa-amraqū / Fa-lī qā’idun min nūrihi wasṭa al-mamshā_

If the people go blind one day and stray from the path, I have a leader from his light in the midst of the walkway.

**6.** يُؤَيِّدُنِي فِـــي كُــــلِّ مَشْهَــــدِ دَهْشَـــةٍ / أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ الْمِفْضَالُ مِنْ أَجْلِ مَا رَشَّا

_Yu’ay-yidunī fī kulli mash-hadi dahshatin / Abū al-Qāsimi al-mifḍālu min ajli mā rashshā_

He supports me in every scene of bewilderment—Abul Qasim, the most bountiful, because of what he sprinkled.

**7.** عَلَيْهِ صَــــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُــــمَّ سَلاَمُـــهُ / صَلاَةً وَتَسْلِيمًا تُلِيـــنُ لَنَا الْعَيْشَــا

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Ṣalātan wa-taslīman tulīnu lanā al-‘ayshā_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; a prayer and salutation that makes life soft for us.

**8.** عَلَيْــــــهِ صَــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / تُحَلِّي كَلاَمِي وَالْمَهَارِقَ وَالنَّقْشَـــا

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Tuḥallī kalāmī wal-mahāriqa wan-naqshā_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; it beautifies my speech, my pages, and my engravings.

**9.** عَلَيْــــهِ صَـــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُــــمَّ سَلاَمُـــهُ / أَكُونُ سِوَاهُ لَنْ أُرَجِّي وَلَنْ أَخْشَى

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Akūnu siwāhu lan urajjī wa-lan akhshā_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; I shall hope in none but him, and fear none but him.

**10.** عَلَيْهِ صَـــــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــــمَّ سَلاَمُـــهُ / وَآلٍ وَصَحْبٍ حَارَبُوا كُلَّ مَنْ غَشَّا

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Wa-ālin wa-ṣaḥbin ḥārabū kulla man ghashshā_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace, and upon the family and companions who fought every deceiver.
