# Harful Qaaf · حَرْفُ الْقَافِ

**1.** قَدِ امْتَلَأَتْ أَرْجَاهُ قَلْبِي وَلاَ غَـــــرْوَا / بِحُبِّ أَمِينِ اللّٰهِ فِي السِّرِّ وَالنَّجْوَى

_Qadi-mtala’at arjāhu qalbī wa-lā gharwā / Bi-ḥubbi amīni Allāhi fī al-sirri wal-najwā_

The regions of my heart have been filled—and no wonder—with the love of the Trustworthy One of Allah in secret and in private.

**2.** مُحَمَّـــــــدُ عَبْــــدُ اللّٰهِ سَيِّـــدُ خَلْقِــهِ / فَلَمْ أَرْفَعَنْ يَوْمًا إِلَى غَيْرِهِ شَكْـــوَى

_Muḥammadu ‘abdu Allāhi sayyidu khalqihi / Fa-lam arfa‘an yawman ilā ghayrihi shakwā_

Muhammad, the servant of Allah, the master of His creation; I have never raised a complaint to anyone besides him.

**3.** لَهُ آيَةٌ تَبْقَى مَدَى الدَّهْــــــرِ بَعْدَمَــا / تَلاَشَى سِوَاهَا أَيْنَ ذَا الْمَنُّ وَالسَّلْوَى

_Lahu āyatun tabqā madā al-dahri ba‘da mā / Talāshā siwāhā ayna dhā al-mannu wal-salwā_

He possesses a miracle that remains throughout all time, while others have vanished; where now are the "Manna and Quails"?

**4.** كِتَابٌ كَرِيـــمٌ مِـــنْ كَرِيـــمٍ مُنَـــزَّلٌ / عَلَيْكَ كَرِيمًا مِنْ كِرَامٍ عَلَوْا مَثْوَى

_Kitābun karīmun min karīmin munazzalun / ‘Alayka karīman min kirāmin ‘alaw mathwā_

A Noble Book from a Noble One sent down upon you, the noble one, from noble ones who rose high in station.

**5.** كِتَابٌ مَجِيـــــــدٌ مِــــنْ مَجِيـــدٍ مُمَجَّــدٌ / عَلَيْكَ مَجِيدًا عِنْدَ ذِي الْعَرْشِ وَالْمَأْوَى

_Kitābun majīdun min majīdin mumajjadun / ‘Alayka majīdan ‘inda dhī al-‘arshi wal-ma’wā_

A Glorious Book from a Glorious, Glorified One, upon you, the glorious one, with the Lord of the Throne and the Refuge.

**6.** كِتَابٌ جَلِيـــــــلٌ مِــــنْ جَلِيـــــلٍ مُنَــــزَّلٌ / عَلَى قَلْبِ مَنْ يَمْحُو الضَّلاَلَ مَعَ الْأَهْـــوَا

_Kitābun jalīlun min jalīlin munazzalun / ‘Alā qalbi man yamḥū al-ḍalāla ma‘a al-ahwā_

A Majestic Book from a Majestic One sent down upon the heart of him who erases misguidance along with whims.

**7.** كِتَابٌ عَظِيــــــمٌ مِـــنْ عَظِيــــمٍ مُنَـــزَّلٌ / عَلَى أَعْظَمِ الْأَقْوَامِ مَنْ لُبْسُــــهُ التَّقْــوَى

_Kitābun ‘aẓīmun min ‘aẓīmin munazzalun / ‘Alā a‘ẓami al-aqwāmi man lubsuhu al-taqwā_

A Magnificent Book from a Magnificent One sent down upon the most magnificent of people, whose garment is God-consciousness.

**8.** كِتَـــــابٌ مِــــــنَ اللّٰهِ الْجَلِيلِ جَلاَلُـــهُ / عَلَى الْمُصْطَفَى الْمُخْتَارِ مَنْ لاَ لَهُ شَرْوَى

_Kitābun mina Allāhi al-jalīli jalāluhu / ‘Ala al-Muṣṭafa al-mukhtāri man lā lahu sharwā_

A Book from Allah—the Majestic is His Majesty—upon the Chosen, the Selected, who has no equal.

**9.** كِتَابٌ بِهِ شَـــــرْعٌ مِــــنَ الْعَـــرْشِ نَازِلٌ / عَلَى خَيْـــــرِ مَخْلُوقٍ بِـــهِ تُرْفَعُ الْبَلْــوَى

_Kitābun bihi shar‘un mina al-‘arshi nāzilun / ‘Alā khayri makhlūqin bihi turfa‘u al-balwā_

A Book containing a Law descending from the Throne upon the best of creatures, through whom afflictions are lifted.

**10.** عَلَيْكَ بِهِ حَبْــــلاً مِــــنَ اللّٰهِ وَاثِقًـــا / فَفِيهِ نَجَاةٌ مِنْ ضَلاَلٍ وَمِــنْ إِغْــوَا

_‘Alayka bihi ḥablan mina Allāhi wāthiqā / Fa-fīhi najātun min ḍalālin wa-min igrwā_

Hold fast to it as a firm rope from Allah; for in it is salvation from misguidance and from seduction.

**11.** فَأَشْهَــــــــدُ أَنَّ اللّٰهَ لاَ رَبَّ غَيْـــرُهُ / وَقَدْ بَلَّغَ الْمُخْتَارُ وَانْزَاحَتِ الْأَسْوَا

_Fa-ash-hadu anna Allāha lā rabba ghayruhu / Wa-qad ballagha al-Mukhtāru wanzāḥati al-aswā_

I bear witness that Allah is the only Lord, and the Chosen One has conveyed the message and evils have been removed.

**12.** عَلَيْـــهِ صَـــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُــــمَّ سَلاَمُـــهُ / صَلاَةً بِهَا كُلُّ الْعِبَادَاتِ قَدْ تُطْوَى

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Ṣalātan bihā kullu al-‘ibādāti qad tuṭwā_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; a prayer through which all acts of worship are folded [as accepted].

**13.** عَلَيْـــــهِ صَــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُــــمَّ سَلاَمُـــهُ / صَلاَةً بِهَا أَرْقَى إِلَى الْغَايَةِ الْقُصْوَى

_‘Alayka ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Ṣalātan bihā arqā ila al-ghāyati al-quṣwā_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; a prayer through which I ascend to the furthest goal.

**14.** عَلَيْــــــهِ صَـــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــمَّ سَلاَمُـــهُ / صَلاَةً بِهَا تُمْحَى ذُنُوبُ الْفَتَى مَحْــوَا

_‘Alayka ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Ṣalātan bihā tumḥā dhunūbu al-fatā maḥwā_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; a prayer through which the sins of the youth are completely erased.

**15.** عَلَيْــــهِ صَـــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُــــمَّ سَلاَمُـــهُ / وَآلٍ وَصَحْبٍ قَدْ سُقُوا حُبَّهُ صَفْـوَا

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Wa-ālin wa-ṣaḥbin qad suqū ḥubbahu ṣafwā_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace, and upon the family and companions who were given his pure love to drink.
