# Harfus Siin · حَرْفُ السِّينِ

**1.** سَلاَمٌ عَلَى عِهْنٍ وَبِيرِ أَرِيـــسِ / تَحِنُّ قِلاَمِي نَحْوَهَا وَنُقُوسِــــي

_Salāmun ‘alā ‘Ihnin wa-bīri Arīsi / Taḥinnu qilāmī naḥwahā wa-nuqūsī_

Peace be upon the well of 'Ihn and the well of Aris; my pens and my inkwells yearn toward them.

**2.** مَشَارِبُ خَيْرِ الْخَلْقِ صَفْوَةِ خَلْقِهِ / وَأَعْظَمِ مَلْكٍ سَاسَ كُلَّ نُفُـــوسِ

_Mashāribu khayri al-khalqi ṣafwati khalqihi / Wa-a‘ẓami malkin sāsa kulla nufūsi_

The drinking places of the Best of Creation, the elite of His creation, and the greatest king who governed all souls.

**3.** وَقَدْ أَفْصَحَتْ نُطْقُ الْجَمَادَاتِ أَنَّهُ / لَأَفْضَلُ مَخْلُوقٍ غَــــزَا بِخَمِيـــسِ

_Wa-qad afṣaḥat nuṭqu al-jamādāti annahu / La-afḍalu makhlūqin ghazā bi-khamīsi_

The speech of inanimate objects clearly expressed that he is the best of creatures who ever led an army.

**4.** وَقَدْ بَرِعَتْ فِي الْعِلْمِ عُجْمٌ بِسِرِّهِ / وَطَاوَعَهُ لِلرُّشْــــدِ كُــلُّ رَئِيــسِ

_Wa-qad bara‘at fī al-‘ilmi ‘ujmun bi-sirrihi / Wa-ṭāwa‘ahu lir-rushdi kullu ra’īsi_

Non-Arabs excelled in knowledge through his secret, and every leader obeyed him for the sake of guidance.

**5.** وَقَدْ سَحَقَتْ أَصْحَابُهُ كُلَّ مُجْرِمٍ / وَقَدْ عَبِقَتْ بِالطِّيبِ بِيرُ أَرِيــسِ

_Wa-qad saḥaqat aṣḥābu-hu kulla mujrimin / Wa-qad ‘abiqat bi-ṭībi bīru Arīsi_

His companions crushed every criminal, and the well of Aris has become fragrant with perfume.

**6.** عَلَيْهِ صَــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُــــمَّ سَلاَمُـــهُ / وَآلٍ وَصَحْبٍ قَدْ سَخَوْا بِنَفِيسِ

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Wa-ālin wa-ṣaḥbin qad sakhaw bi-nafīsi_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace, and upon the family and companions who gave generously of their most precious possessions.
