Harful Khaa ·
From Ad-Dawaawiinu s-Sitta · الدواوين الست by Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass
Khalīlī ṣafā waqtī wa-tamma liya al-basṭu
Wa-lam ara liṣ-ṣabbi al-‘alīli dawan qaṭ-ṭū
My friend, my time has become pure and my expansion has become complete; I have never seen any other remedy for the ailing lover.
Wa-dhāka li-man yahwa al-Amīna karāmatun
Fa-mā ḥubbuhu illā al-sa‘ādatu wal-qisṭu
That is a miracle for whoever loves the Trustworthy One; for his love is nothing but happiness and justice.
Fa-min jūdihi al-kawnāni wal-amru thumma mā
Ta‘ālā wa-ḥubbu al-Muṣṭafā rad‘u man yasṭū
From his generosity come the two worlds, the Divine Command, and all that is exalted; and the love of the Chosen One is a deterrent to whoever attacks.
Rasūlun thawā fī al-ghaybi dahran muwaḥ-ḥidā
Wa-mā thamma man yanfī wa-tamma lahu al-basṭu
A Messenger who remained in the Unseen for ages as a monotheist; there was no one there to deny [the Truth], and his expansion was complete.
Wa-kāna rasūlan ḥīna Ādamu ṭīnatun
Wa-mā’un fa-mā al-jadwā li-ghāwin wa-mā al-khabṭu
He was a Messenger while Adam was still [between] clay and water; so what use is there for the one who strays or falters?
‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu
Ṣalātan bihā yanzāḥu ‘an arḍinā al-qaḥṭu
Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; a prayer through which the drought is removed from our land.
‘Alayka ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu
Wa-ta‘lū suṭūrī thumma shaklī kadhā al-naqṭu
Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; may my lines [of poetry], my diacritics, and my dots rise in rank.
‘Alayka ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu
Yazīdu gharāmī al-shību wal-kibru wal-shamṭu
Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; may my passion increase with grey hair, old age, and hoariness.
‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu
Wa-ālin wa-ṣaḥbin fī siwā al-dīni lan yasṭū
Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace, and upon the family and companions who would never attack except for the sake of religion.
