# Harful Hhaa · حَرْفُ الْهَاءِ

**1.** هُوَ الْمُصْطَفَى مَنْ لَمْ يَثِقْ بِعُــرَاهُ / هَوَى فِـي جَحِيمٍ إِذْ غَوَى بِهَــوَاهُ

_Huwa al-Muṣṭafā man lam yathiq bi-‘urāhu / Hawā fī jaḥīmin idh ghawā bi-hawāhu_

He is the Chosen One; whoever does not trust in his handles has fallen into a furnace, for he was led astray by his own passion.

**2.** سَبِيلُ سَلاَمٍ فِـي اقْتِفَــاءِ صِرَاطِـــهِ / هُوَ الْبَابُ لِلْمَوْلَــى وَلَيْـــسَ سِـوَاهُ

_Sabīlu salāmin fī-qtifā’i ṣirāṭihi / Huwa al-bābu lil-mawlā wa-laysa siwāhu_

The path of peace lies in following his way; he is the door to the Master, and there is no other.

**3.** دَعَا الْخَلْقَ لِلْمَوْلَى بِكُـــلِّ نَصِيحَــةٍ / فَلَبَّـــى الَّذِي قَـــدْ زَالَ عَنْـــهُ شَقَــاهُ

_Da‘ā al-khalqa lil-mawlā bi-kulli naṣīḥatin / Fa-labbā al-ladhī qad zāla ‘anhu shaqāhu_

He called the creation to the Master with every [sincere] advice; and he whose wretchedness had vanished responded to the call.

**4.** عَتِيقٌ وَهُو خَيْرُ الْوَرَى بَعْدَ رُسْلِهِــمْ / أَبُو حَفْــــــصٍ الْفَــارُوقُ بَعْــدُ تَــلاَهُ

_‘Atīqun wa-huwa khayru al-warā ba‘da ruslihim / Abū Ḥafṣin al-Fārūqu ba‘du talāhu_

[Abu Bakr] al-Atiq—he is the best of humanity after the Messengers—then Abu Hafs al-Faruq [Umar] followed him.

**5.** وَعُثْمَانُ ذُو النُّورَيْـنِ وَاللَّيْثُ سَيِّــدِي / أَبُــــو حَسَـــنٍ صِنْـــوُ النَّبِي وَثِنَـــاهُ

_Wa-‘Uthmānu dhū al-nūrayni wal-laythu sayyidī / Abū Ḥasanin ṣinwu al-nabiyyi wa-thināhu_

And Uthman of the Two Lights, and the Lion, my master—Abu Hasan [Ali], the peer of the Prophet and his second.

**6.** وَطَلْحَـــةُ سَعْـــدٌ وَالزُّبَيْـــرُ سَعِيــدُهُمْ / وَعَامِـــــرُ وَالْعَوْفِــيُّ زَيْــــنُ مَـــلاَهُ

_Wa-Ṭalḥatu Sa‘dun wal-Zubayru Sa‘īduhum / Wa-‘Āmiru wal-‘Awfiyyu zaynu malāhu_

And Talha, Sa‘d, and al-Zubayr, and Sa‘id—and [Abu Ubayda] 'Amir and [Abdurrahman] al-Awfi, the ornament of the world.

**7.** وَخَيْــــــرُ قُـــرُونٍ ثُمَّ قَـــرْنٌ يَلِيهِــمُ / وَقَـــــرْنٌ يَلِيهِـــــمْ فُضِّلُـــوا بِحِبَــاهُ

_Wa-khayru qurūnin thumma qarnun yalīhimu / Wa-qarnun yalīhim fuḍ-ḍilū bi-ḥibāhu_

And the best of generations, then the generation that followed them, then the generation that followed them—they were favored by his gifts.

**8.** عَلَيْـــــهِ صَــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / فَـــلاَ أَنْتَحِــــي إِلاَّ لِنَحْـــوِ رِضَــاهُ

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Fa-lā antaḥī illā li-naḥwi riḍāhu_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; for I do not turn except toward his pleasure.

**9.** عَلَيْـــــهِ صَـــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / تُفِيضُ لِـهَـذَا الْعَبْدِ فَيْـــضَ عَطَــاهُ

_‘Alayka ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Tufīḍu li-hādha al-‘abdi fayḍa ‘aṭāhu_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; may it overflow upon this servant with the flood of his giving.

**10.** عَلَيْـــــهِ صَـــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــمَّ سَلاَمُـــهُ / وَتَكْفِـــي لِهَــذَا الْعَبْـــدِ كُــلَّ عِــدَاهُ

_‘Alayka ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Wa-takfī li-hādha al-‘abdi kulla ‘idāhu_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; and may it suffice this servant against all his enemies.

**11.** عَلَيْـــهِ صَــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــــــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / صَـــلاَةً بِهَـــا نَـــالَ الْعُبَيْدُ مُنَــــاهُ

_‘Alayka ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Ṣalātan bihā nāla al-‘ubaydu munāhu_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; a prayer through which the little servant attained his desire.

**12.** عَلَيْـــهِ صَــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــمَّ سَلاَمُـــهُ / تُسَخِّـــرُ لِي دَهْــــرِي لِيَـــوْمِ لِقَــاهُ

_‘Alayka ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Tusakh-khiru lī dahrī li-yawmi liqāhu_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; may it subject my time to me until the Day of Meeting him.

**13.** عَلَيْـــــهِ صَـــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / وَآلٍ وَأَصْحَـــــابٍ عَلَــوْا بِعُــلاَهُ

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Wa-ālin wa-asḥābin ‘alaw bi-‘ulāhu_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace, and upon the family and companions who rose high through his loftiness.
