# Harful Haa · حَرْفُ الْحَاءِ

**1.** حَمَانِي رَسُولُ اللّٰهِ مِــنْ كُلِّ رَامِــحِ / عَلَــى رَغْـمِ غَـادٍ لِلْبِــرَازِ وَرَائِــحِ

_Ḥamānī Rasūlu Allāhi min kulli rāmiḥi / ‘Ala raghmi ghādin lil-birāzi wa-rā’iḥi_

The Messenger of Allah has protected me from every spear-thrower, despite those who go out to duel in the morning or evening.

**2.** حَمَانِـي رَسُــولُ اللّٰهِ عَنْ مَكْرِ مَاكِـرٍ / وَشُؤْمٍ لِــــذِي شُؤْمٍ وَكُلِّ الْجَوَائِــحِ

_Ḥamānī Rasūlu Allāhi ‘an makri mākirin / Wa-shu’min li-dhī shu’min wa-kulli al-jawā’iḥi_

The Messenger of Allah has protected me from the plot of the plotter, the ill-omen of the wretched, and every calamity.

**3.** وَسِحْرٍ لِذِي سِحْــــرٍ وَعَيْــنٍ لِعَائِــنٍ / فَمَنْ رَامَ ضُرِّي قَدْ سَعَى فِي مَصَالِحِي

_Wa-siḥrin li-dhī siḥrin wa-‘aynin li-‘ā’inin / Fa-man rāma ḍurrī qad sa‘ā fī maṣāliḥī_

From the magic of the magician and the eye of the envier; for whoever seeks my harm has [unintentionally] worked toward my benefit.

**4.** بِيُمْـــنِ رَسُـــولِ اللّٰهِ كَهْفِــي وَمَلْجَئِــي / فَمَا مُبْغِضُ الْعَبْـــــــدِ الْحَقِيـــرِ بِرَابِــحِ

_Bi-yumni Rasūli Allāhi kahfī wa-malja’ī / Fa-mā mubghiḍu al-‘abdi al-ḥaqīri bi-rābiḥi_

By the blessing of the Messenger of Allah, my Cave and my Refuge; the hater of this humble servant shall never be a winner.

**5.** نَصَحْــــتُ لِمَنْ يَبْغِــي السَّلاَمَةَ وَالْعُلَى / يُخَلِّـــي عَــــنِ الْمَـــدَّاحِ مِن كُلِّ قَــادِحِ

_Naṣaḥtu li-man yabghī al-salāmata wal-‘ulā / Yukhallī ‘ani al-maddāḥi min kulli qādiḥi_

I have given advice to whoever seeks safety and high status: leave the Praiser [of the Prophet] alone and cease all criticism.

**6.** فَــــإِنَّ رَسُــــولَ اللّٰهِ حَامِـــي ذِمَــارِهِ / وَقَدْ جَــاءَ مَنْصُورًا عَلَى كُلِّ كَــادِحِ

_Fa-inna Rasūla Allāhi ḥāmī dhimārihi / Wa-qad jā’a manṣūran ‘alā kulli kādiḥi_

For indeed, the Messenger of Allah is the protector of his domain; he has come victorious over every toiler [against him].

**7.** وَقَدْ كُفِــــيَ الْأَحْزَابَ يَــوْمَ تَحَزَّبُــوا / وَرُدُّوا بِغَيْــظٍ بِالْبَلاَيَــــا الْفَـــــوَادِحِ

_Wa-qad kufiya al-aḥzāba yawma taḥazzabū / Wa-ruddū bi-ghayẓin bil-balāyā al-fawādiḥi_

He sufficed against the Confederates (Al-Aḥzāb) on the day they gathered; they were turned back in rage with crushing calamities.

**8.** وَإِنِّي مَعَ الْمُخْتَــــارِ فِــي كُلِّ حَالَــةٍ / بِحُبٍّ وَذِكْــــرٍ ثُمَّ قَـــرْضِ الْمَدَائِــحِ

_Wa-innī ma‘a al-Mukhtāri fī kulli ḥālatin / Bi-ḥubbin wa-dhikrin thumma qarḍi al-madā’iḥi_

And I am with the Chosen One in every circumstance—through love, remembrance, and the composition of odes.

**9.** فَمَنْ رَاشَ نَحْوِي سَهْمَهُ فَهْـــوَ رَائِــشٌ / إِلَــــــى نَحْـــــرِهِ فَلْيُنْـــذَرَنْ بِالْقَــوَادِحِ

_Fa-man rāsha naḥwī sahmahu fahuwa rā’ishun / Ilā naḥrihi falyundharan bil-qawādiḥi_

Whoever feathers his arrow toward me has only aimed it back at his own throat; let him be warned of the strikes.

**10.** عَلَيْـــــهِ صَـــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُــــــــمَّ سَلاَمُـــهُ / أَنَالُ بِهَــــا كُـــلَّ الْمُنَــى وَالْمَـــرَابِــحِ

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Anālu bihā kulla al-munā wal-marābiḥi_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; through which I attain all desires and profits.

**11.** عَلَيْــــــهِ صَـــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / لِتَمْلَأَ مِنْ حُبِّ الْأَمِيـــــنِ جَوَانِحِــي

_‘Alayka ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Li-tamla’a min ḥubbi al-Amīni jawāniḥī_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; may it fill my very ribs with the love of the Trustworthy One.

**12.** عَلَيْـــــهِ صَـــــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / لِيَرْفَعَنِـــي الْهَادِي عَلَـــى كُلِّ مَــادِحِ

_‘Alayka ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Li-yarfa‘anī al-Hādī ‘alā kulli mādiḥi_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; may the Guide raise me above every other praiser.

**13.** عَلَيْــــــهِ صَـــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / لِيَقْبَلَ سَعْيِي ثُـــــمَّ كُـــلَّ مَدَائِحِــي

_‘Alayka ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Li-yaqbala sa‘yī thumma kulla madā’iḥī_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; may he accept my effort and all my odes of praise.

**14.** عَلَيْـــــهِ صَـــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / فَتُسْقَى أَرَاضِي بِالْمُزُونِ الدَّوَالِحِ

_‘Alayka ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Fa-tusqā arāḍī bil-muzūni al-dawāliḥi_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; may my lands be watered by heavy, rain-bearing clouds.

**15.** عَلَيْــــــهِ صَـــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / صَلاَةً بِهَا نُجْحِي وَكُلُّ الْمَصَالِــحِ

_‘Alayka ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Ṣalātan bihā nujḥī wa-kullu al-maṣāliḥi_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; a prayer through which lies our success and all our interests.

**16.** عَلَيْـــــهِ صَــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / وَمَنْ يَقْتَفِي مِنْ كُــلِّ بَرٍّ وَصَالِــحِ

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Wa-man yaqtafī min kulli barrin wa-ṣāliḥi_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace, and upon whoever follows him from among every pious and righteous person.
