Harful Laam · حَرْفُ اللَّامِ

لَئِنْ عَزَّنِي لُقْيَـــا النَّبِي وَوِصَــالُهُ
فَقَــــدْ دَامَ لِــي تَذْكَـــارُهُ وَخَيَــالُهُ

La’in ‘azzanī luqyā al-nabiyyi wa-wiṣāluhu
Fa-qad dāma lī tadhkāruhu wa-khayāluhu

If the physical meeting and union with the Prophet is difficult for me, his remembrance and his image remain constantly with me.

وَإِنْ عَزَّنِي مَــــدْحٌ لَــهُ وَثَنَــاؤُهُ
فَقَــدْ تَيَّمَـــانِــي نُــورُهُ وَجَمَالُـــهُ

Wa-in ‘azzanī madḥun lahu wa-thanā’uhu
Fa-qad tayyamānī nūruhu wa-jamāluhu

If I find it difficult to praise and extol him as he deserves, his light and his beauty have already enraptured me.

شُغِفْتُ بِطَــهَ الْـهَاشِمِــــيِّ وَإِنَّنِــي
سَبَانِي جَمَالُ الْمُصْطَفَى وَجَلاَلُـهُ

Shughiftu bi-Ṭāhā al-Hāshimiyyi wa-innanī
Sabānī jamālu al-Muṣṭafā wa-jalāluhu

I am infatuated with Taha the Hashemite, and indeed, the beauty and majesty of the Chosen One have taken me captive.

وَقَدْ رَفَعَ الْمَوْلَى الْعَلِي جَلَّ ذِكْرَهُ
وَقَدْ زَيَّنَ الْإِنْسَانَ خَلْقًــــا مِثَالُــهُ

Wa-qad rafa‘a al-Mawlā al-‘Aliyyu jalla dhikrahu
Wa-qad zayyana al-insāna khalqan mithāluhu

The Most High Master—Majestic is His mention—has raised his rank, and his form has beautified the very essence of man.

وَقَدْ سَطَّرَ الرَّحْمَانُ فِي الْعَرْشِ ذِكْرَهُ
أَبُــــــو بَشَـــــــرٍ مِـــنْ ذَا أَتَــاهُ نَوَالُــهُ

Wa-qad saṭ-ṭara al-Raḥmānu fī al-‘arshi dhikrahu
Abū basharin min dhā atāhu nawāluhu

The Most Merciful inscribed his name upon the Throne; the Father of Humanity (Adam) received his bounty from this [source].

بِكُـــــــــلِّ أَذَانٍ ذِكْــــــرُهُ وَثَنَـــــــــــاؤُهُ
وَفِي الذِّكْرِ مَدْحُ الْمُصْطَفَـــى وَكَمَالُــهُ

Bi-kulli adhānin dhikruhu wa-thanā’uhu
Wa-fī al-dhikri madḥu al-Muṣṭafā wa-kamāluhu

In every call to prayer, his name and praise are mentioned; and in the Divine Remembrance (Quran), the praise and perfection of the Chosen One are found.

وَمِنْ قَبْـــلُ فِي التَّـــــــوْرَاةِ ذِكْرُ مُحَمَّــدٍ
وَإِنْجِيـــــلُ عِيسَـــى فِيـــهِ بَانَ خِصَالُــهُ

Wa-min qablu fī al-Tawrāti dhikru Muḥammadin
Wa-injīlu ‘Īsā fīhi bāna khiṣāluhu

And long ago, in the Torah, Muhammad was mentioned; and the Gospel of Jesus made his noble traits clear.

تَمَنَّـــى كَلِيــــمُ اللّٰهِ لَــوْ كَانَ وَاحِــــــدًا
مِنْ أُمَّـــــةِ خَيْــــرِ الْخَلْــــقِ ذَاكَ مَقَالُــهُ

Tamannā Kalīmu Allāhi law kāna wāḥidan
Min ummati khayri al-khalqi dhāka maqāluhu

The one who spoke with Allah (Moses) wished that he were but one member of the nation of the Best of Creation—that was his plea.

وَإِنْ جَـــــــاءَ رُوحُ اللّٰهِ عِيسَـــى فَإِنَّــهُ
مِــــنْ أُمَّتِــــهِ تَحْكِـــي الْفِعَـــالَ فِعَالُــهُ

Wa-in jā’a Rūḥu Allāhi ‘Īsā fa-innahu
Min ummatihi taḥkī al-fi‘āla fi‘āluhu

And when the Spirit of Allah, Jesus, returns, he shall be from his nation, his actions reflecting the Prophet’s own actions.

يُصَلِّي بِــــــهِ الْمَهْـــدِيُّ يَا فَـــوْزَ أُمَّــةٍ
يَؤُمُّهُـــــمُ طَـــــهَ وَعِيسَـــى وَآلُــــــهُ

Yuṣallī bi-hi al-Mahdiyyu yā fawza ummatin
Ya’ummuhumu Ṭāhā wa-‘Īsā wa-āluhu

The Mahdi shall pray with him—O the success of a nation led by Taha, Jesus, and his Family!

أُرَجِّي لِقَا الْمَهْــــدِيِّ عَــوْنًا وَمُرْشِــدًا
لَهُ كُلَّ وَقْتٍ مِــــــنْ رِضَـــايَ مَجَالُــهُ

Urajjī liqā al-Mahdiyyi ‘awnan wa-murshidan
Lahu kulla waqtin min riḍāya majāluhu

I hope for the meeting with the Mahdi as an aid and a guide; for him, at all times, there is a place in my heart's pleasure.

فَتُمْسِي النَّصَارَى كَالْجَلِيدِ تَشَعْشَعَــــتْ
عَلَيْهِ ذُكَــــــاءٌ ، كُلُّهُـــمْ ضَـــاقَ حَالُــهُ

Fa-tumsī al-Naṣārā kal-jalīdi tasha‘-sha‘at
‘Alayhi dhukā’un kulluhum ḍāqa ḥāluhu

Then the [disbelieving] Christians shall become like ice upon which the sun has shone; they shall all melt away and their state shall become narrow.

فَيَـــــا رَبِّ عَجِّـــلْ بِالنَّبِــــــــيِّ مُحَمَّــدٍ
زَوَالَ عَــــذَابٍ آنَ مِنْــــــــكَ زَوَالُـــــهُ

Fa-yā rabbi ‘ajjil bin-nabiyyi Muḥammadin
Zawāla ‘adhābin āna minka zawāluhu

O my Lord, hasten through the Prophet Muhammad the removal of a punishment whose time for removal has come from You.

عَلَيْـــــهِ صَـــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــمَّ سَلاَمُـــــــهُ
يَكُـــــونُ عَـــدُوِّي شُــدَّ مِنْــكَ وَبَالُــهُ

‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu
Yakūnu ‘aduwwī shudda minka wabāluhu

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; may my enemy’s ruin be tightened by You.

عَلَيْــــــــهِ صَـــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ
يَكُونُ فِعَــــالُ الْعَبْــــدِ فِيـــكَ وَقَالُــهُ

‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu
Yakūnu fi‘ālu al-‘abdi fīka wa-qāluhu

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; may the servant’s actions and words be solely for Your sake.

عَلَيْهِ مَـــــعَ الْآلِ الْكِـــرَامِ وَصَحْبِــهِ
صَلاَةٌ بِهَـــــا لُقْيَـــا النَّبِي وَوِصَالُــهُ

‘Alayhi ma‘a al-āli al-kirāmi wa-ṣaḥbihi
Ṣalātun bihā luqyā al-nabiyyi wa-wiṣāluhu

Upon him, along with the noble family and his companions, be a prayer through which the meeting and union with the Prophet are achieved.
