Harfud Dwaad ·
From Ad-Dawaawiinu s-Sitta · الدواوين الست by Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass
Ḍarīḥun lada al-‘Adhrā bihi-htazzati al-arḍu
Fa-min dūnihi al-Kursiyyu wal-‘Arshu wal-Ḥawḍu
Upon the tomb near the Virgin [Aisha's chamber], the earth has shaken; for compared to it, the Footstool, the Throne, and the Basin are secondary.
Ḍarīḥun bihi amsā Muḥammadu rāqidan
Bihi al-‘ilmu wal-taqwā bihi al-karamu al-maḥ-ḍu
A tomb in which Muhammad has come to rest; in it lies knowledge, God-consciousness, and pure generosity.
Ḍarīḥun bihi amsā al-nabiyyu wa-ḥawlahu
Wazīrāhu hal ḍam-mat li-ashbāhihim arḍu
A tomb in which the Prophet resides, and around him are his two Viziers [Abu Bakr and Umar]; has the earth ever embraced the likes of them?
Wa-minbaruhu mā baynahu wa-ḍarīḥihi
Jinānun li-qalbī ‘indahu marba‘un khaf-ḍu
And his pulpit—the space between it and his tomb is a Garden; for my heart, it is a place of descent and lowliness [in humility].
Ila ahlihā uhdī al-taḥāyā tashaw-wuqan
Wa-qad ḥāla dūnī mahma-hun qudhufun ‘ar-ḍu
To its people, I send my greetings of longing; though a vast and perilous desert stands as a barrier between us.
Famā ‘ayshu man amsā bi-Kawlakha thāwiyan
Wa-jīratuhu ḥawla al-Naqā ḍam-mahā al-Raw-ḍu
What is the life of one who resides in Kaolack, while his neighbors are gathered around the plain of al-Naqa in the Garden (Rawdah)?
Nabiyyun lahu ḥal-la al-ghanā’imu wa-huwa man
Ghazā ur‘ibū naṣran wa-masjiduhu al-ar-ḍu
A Prophet for whom the spoils of war were made lawful; he is the one who, when he campaigned, was aided by terror [in the hearts of enemies], and for whom the whole earth was made a mosque.
‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu
Ṣalātan bihā yabqā liya al-naf-lu wal-far-ḍu
Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; a prayer through which my voluntary and obligatory deeds remain preserved.
‘Alayka ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu
Bi-‘ayni al-riḍā sa‘yī wa-ṣaḥbī matā nam-ḍū
Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; may my efforts and my companions be viewed with the eye of pleasure whenever we pass on.
‘Alayka ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu
Wa-ālin wa-asḥābin ‘ala al-dīni qad ḥaḍ-ḍū
Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; and upon the family and companions who urged others toward the religion.
‘Alayhi ma‘a al-āli al-kirāmi wa-ṣaḥbihi
Ṣalātun bihā yabqā liya al-dak-ku wal-maḥ-qu
Upon him, along with the noble family and his companions; a prayer through which my ego is crushed and annihilated.
