Harfus Siin ·

From Ad-Dawaawiinu s-Sitta · الدواوين الست by Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass

Salāmun ‘ala ṭibbin wa-khayri muwāsī
Li-kulli mu‘ānin ḥubbahu wa-muqāsī

Peace be upon the medicine and the best of consolers for every sufferer of love and every struggler.

‘Ala khayri nāsin khayri man waṭi’a al-tharā
Fa-khayru rasūlin jā’a khayra unāsī

Peace be upon the best of people, the best who ever trod the earth; the best Messenger who came to the best of nations.

Wa-afḍalu man yud‘ā li-daf‘i nawā’ibi
Wa-afḍalu man yusdī al-‘aṭā wa-yuwāsī

He is the most excellent one called upon to repel calamities, and the most excellent to bestow gifts and offer comfort.

Wa-afḍalu man yaqrī wa-yaqra’u khayra man
Atāhu mina al-amdāḥi kullu jināsī

The most excellent to host guests and to recite; the best of those to whom every kind of poetic praise has come.

Muḥammadu ‘abdu Allāhi Aḥmadu khayru man
Yuḥam-malu kallan fahuwa khayru muwāsī

Muhammad, the servant of Allah, Ahmad; the best of those who carry the burdens of others, for he is the best consoler.

Wa-afḍalu mamdūḥin yunīlu mathūbatan
Wa-badh-lan wa-lānat min thanāhu qawāsī

The most excellent of the praised who grants rewards and generosity; even the hardest hearts softened from his praise.

Gharastu bi-amdāḥi al-nabiyyi sa‘ādatī
Fa-yā ṭība amdāḥī wa-ṭība ghirāsī

I have planted my happiness through the praises of the Prophet; oh, how sweet are my praises and how sweet is my planting!

Libāsī wa-ḥiṣnī mad-ḥu Aḥmada sayyidī
Fa-am-na‘u ḥiṣnin wa-huwa khayru libāsī

My garment and my fortress is the praise of Ahmad, my master; the most impregnable of fortresses and the best of garments.

Idhā khamadat fikrī madaḥtu Muḥammadan
Fa-ṣirtu dhakā’an azdarī bi-Iyāsī

Whenever my intellect grows dull, I praise Muhammad; and I become so sharp that I surpass the intelligence of Iyās.

Tuḍī’u liya al-āfāqu ḥattā ka-annanī
Ushāhidu ghayba al-ghaybi dūna nu‘āsī

The horizons light up for me until it is as if I am witnessing the Unseen of the Unseen without any drowsiness.

‘Ala al-Muṣṭafā fī kulli bad’in wa-makhtami
Ṣalātun wa-taslīmun baqā’a rawāsī

Upon the Chosen One, in every beginning and conclusion, be prayer and peace as enduring as the firm mountains.

Ma‘a al-āli wal-ṣaḥbi al-kirāmi qad ihtadaw
Fa-kul-luhumu yahdī li-khayri unāsī

Along with the noble family and companions who were guided; for every one of them guides toward the best of people.
