# Harfus Siin · حَرْفُ السِّينِ

**1.** سَلاَمٌ عَلَى طِــــــبٍّ وَخَيْرِ مُــــوَاسِ / لِكُـــــلِّ مُعَــــــانٍ حُبَّـــــهُ وَمُقَـــاسِ

_Salāmun ‘ala ṭibbin wa-khayri muwāsī / Li-kulli mu‘ānin ḥubbahu wa-muqāsī_

Peace be upon the medicine and the best of consolers for every sufferer of love and every struggler.

**2.** عَلَى خَيْرِ نَاسٍ خَيْرِ مَنْ وَطِئَ الثَّرَى / فَخَيْــــــرُ رَسُــــولٍ جَاءَ خَيْرَ أُنَــاسِ

_‘Ala khayri nāsin khayri man waṭi’a al-tharā / Fa-khayru rasūlin jā’a khayra unāsī_

Peace be upon the best of people, the best who ever trod the earth; the best Messenger who came to the best of nations.

**3.** وَأَفْضَلُ مَنْ يُدْعَــــــى لِدَفْعِ نَوَائِــبٍ / وَأَفْضَلُ مَنْ يُسْدِي الْعَطَا وَيُوَاسِـي

_Wa-afḍalu man yud‘ā li-daf‘i nawā’ibi / Wa-afḍalu man yusdī al-‘aṭā wa-yuwāsī_

He is the most excellent one called upon to repel calamities, and the most excellent to bestow gifts and offer comfort.

**4.** وَأَفْضَلُ مَنْ يَقْرِي وَيَقْرَأُ خَيْرَ مَـنْ / أَتَـــــــاهُ مِـــنَ الْأَمْـــدَاحِ كُلُّ جِنَــاسِ

_Wa-afḍalu man yaqrī wa-yaqra’u khayra man / Atāhu mina al-amdāḥi kullu jināsī_

The most excellent to host guests and to recite; the best of those to whom every kind of poetic praise has come.

**5.** مُحَمَّدُ عَبْدُ اللّٰهِ أَحْمَـــــدُ خَيْرُ مَــنْ / يُحَمَّلُ كَـــلاًّا فَهْـــوَ خَيْرُ مُــوَاسِ

_Muḥammadu ‘abdu Allāhi Aḥmadu khayru man / Yuḥam-malu kallan fahuwa khayru muwāsī_

Muhammad, the servant of Allah, Ahmad; the best of those who carry the burdens of others, for he is the best consoler.

**6.** وَأَفْضَلُ مَمْدُوحٍ يُنِيلُ مَثُوبَــــةً / وَبَذْلاً وَلاَنَتْ مِنْ ثَنَاهُ قَـــوَاسِ

_Wa-afḍalu mamdūḥin yunīlu mathūbatan / Wa-badh-lan wa-lānat min thanāhu qawāsī_

The most excellent of the praised who grants rewards and generosity; even the hardest hearts softened from his praise.

**7.** غَرَسْتُ بِأَمْــــــدَاحِ النَّبِيِّ سَعَادَتِي / فَيَا طِيبَ أَمْدَاحِي وَطِيبَ غِرَاسِي

_Gharastu bi-amdāḥi al-nabiyyi sa‘ādatī / Fa-yā ṭība amdāḥī wa-ṭība ghirāsī_

I have planted my happiness through the praises of the Prophet; oh, how sweet are my praises and how sweet is my planting!

**8.** لِبَاسِي وَحِصْنِي مَدْحُ أَحْمَدَ سَيِّدِي / فَأَمْنَعُ حِصْــــنٍ وَهْــوَ خَيْرُ لِبَــاسِ

_Libāsī wa-ḥiṣnī mad-ḥu Aḥmada sayyidī / Fa-am-na‘u ḥiṣnin wa-huwa khayru libāsī_

My garment and my fortress is the praise of Ahmad, my master; the most impregnable of fortresses and the best of garments.

**9.** إِذَا خَمَدَتْ فِكْرِي مَدَحْـــــتُ مُحَمَّــدًا / فَصِـــــرْتُ ذَكَـــاءً أَزْدَرِي بِإِيَــاسِ

_Idhā khamadat fikrī madaḥtu Muḥammadan / Fa-ṣirtu dhakā’an azdarī bi-Iyāsī_

Whenever my intellect grows dull, I praise Muhammad; and I become so sharp that I surpass the intelligence of Iyās.

**10.** تُضِيءُ لِيَ الْآفَاقُ حَتَّــــى كَأَنَّنِـــي / أُشَاهِدُ غَيْبَ الْغَيْــــبِ دُونَ نُعَـــاسِ

_Tuḍī’u liya al-āfāqu ḥattā ka-annanī / Ushāhidu ghayba al-ghaybi dūna nu‘āsī_

The horizons light up for me until it is as if I am witnessing the Unseen of the Unseen without any drowsiness.

**11.** عَلَى الْمُصْطَفَى فِي كُلِّ بَدْءٍ وَمَخْتَمٍ / صَلاَةٌ وَتَسْلِيــــــمٌ بَقَــــاءَ رَوَاسِــي

_‘Ala al-Muṣṭafā fī kulli bad’in wa-makhtami / Ṣalātun wa-taslīmun baqā’a rawāsī_

Upon the Chosen One, in every beginning and conclusion, be prayer and peace as enduring as the firm mountains.

**12.** مَعَ الْآلِ وَالصَّحْبِ الْكِرَامِ قَدِ اهْتَدَوْا / فَكُلُّهُــــــــمُ يَهْـــــدِي لِخَيْـــرِ أُنَــاسِ

_Ma‘a al-āli wal-ṣaḥbi al-kirāmi qad ihtadaw / Fa-kul-luhumu yahdī li-khayri unāsī_

Along with the noble family and companions who were guided; for every one of them guides toward the best of people.
