Harfut Taa ·
From Ad-Dawaawiinu s-Sitta · الدواوين الست by Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass
Tak-hidhtu Rasūla Allāhi fī kulli awqātī
Ma‘āshī wa-kasbī fahuwa lī khayru aqwātī
I have taken the Messenger of Allah in all my times as my livelihood and my gain, for he is the best of nourishments for me.
Wa-amdaḥuhu mā ‘ishtu fī kulli ḥālatin
Qaṣīdī madīḥu al-Hāshimī wa-abyātī
I praise him as long as I live in every state; my poems and my verses are but the praise of the Hashemite.
Falī kullu waqtin ḥālatun ba‘da ḥālatin
Wa-ḥālatu mad-ḥi al-Muṣṭafā khayru ḥālātī
For every moment I have state after state, but the state of praising the Chosen One is the best of my states.
Wa-lī zafratun lil-ḥubbi min ba‘di zafratin
Fa-yar-ḥamu khayru al-nāsi ṣadrī wa-zafrātī
I have sigh after sigh out of love; may the best of people have mercy on my chest and my sighs.
Wa-ṭāla bukā’ī fal-zafīru jahannamu
Yuhaw-winuhu minnī dumū‘ī wa-aṣwātī
My weeping has been long, and my sighing is like hellfire, lightened only by my tears and my voices [calls].
Yudārikunī Ṭāhā al-Amīnu bi-‘aṭfatin
Fa-ya‘dhubu ta‘dhībī wa-waj-dī wa-law‘ātī
Taha, the Trustworthy, reaches me with a touch of kindness, and thus my torment, my ecstasy, and my burning grief become sweet.
Anil-nī maqāman qad taqāṣara dūnahu
Jamī‘u fuḥūlin fī zamānī wa-mā ya’tī
Grant me a station that all the giants [masters] of my time and what is to come have fallen short of.
Bilā sababin minnī mu‘āfan fa-innanī
Rajā’ī kabīrun fī malādhī wa-manjātī
Without any merit of my own, but out of well-being; for my hope is great in my Refuge and my Salvation.
‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu
‘Ala ‘adadi al-māḍī kadhā ‘adadi al-ātī
Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace, to the number of what has passed and the number of what is to come.
‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu
Ṣalātan bihā faqrī yazūlu wa-fāqātī
Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; a prayer through which my poverty and my needs vanish.
‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu
Bihā dāma lī dhikrī wa-raw-ḥī wa-rāḥātī
Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; through which my remembrance, my spirit, and my comforts endure.
‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu
Ṣalātan bihā ya‘lū liwā’ī wa-rāyātī
Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; a prayer through which my banner and my flags are raised high.
‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu
Ṣalātī wa-taslīmī ‘ala al-ḥibbi āyātī
Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; my prayer and my greeting upon the Beloved are my signs.
‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu
Bihā yaq-balu al-Mawlā jamī‘a qirā’ātī
Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; through which the Lord accepts all my recitations.
‘Alayhi ma‘a al-āli al-kirāmi wa-ṣaḥbihi
Ṣalātun bihā raf-‘ī wa-raf-‘u makānātī
Upon him, along with the noble family and his companions; a prayer through which my elevation and the raising of my ranks occur.
