# Harful Dhaal · حَرْفُ الذَّالِ

**1.** ذَكَرْتُ الَّذِي بِالـــذِّكْرِ مِنْـــهُ تَلَـذُّذِي / نَبِيًّــــا بِعُلْيَــــاهُ عَـــلاَ كُـــلَّ جِهْبِــذِ

_Dhakartu al-ladhī bidh-dhikri minhu taladh-dhudhī / Nabiyyan bi-‘ulyāhu ‘alā kulla jihbidhī_

I remembered the one in whose remembrance my soul finds sweetness; a Prophet whose loftiness surpasses every brilliant scholar.

**2.** مُحَمَّدُ أُنْسِي وَهْوَ كَنْزِي وَمَلْجَئِـي / وَسِرِّي وَمِنْ كُلِّ الْبَلِيَّاتِ مُنْقِـذِي

_Muḥammadu unsī wa-huwa kanzī wa-malja’ī / Wa-sirrī wa-min kulli al-baliyyāti munqidhī_

Muhammad is my intimacy, he is my treasure and my refuge; he is my secret and my rescuer from every calamity.

**3.** وَهُوَ الَّـــذِي لَمْ يَـــــدْعُ دَاعٍ بِذِكْــرِهِ / وَلَمْ يُسْتَجَــــبْ وَالذِّكْرُ عَيْــنُ تَلَذُّذِي

_Wa-huwa al-ladhī lam yad‘u dā‘in bi-dhikrihi / Wa-lam yustajab wadh-dhikru ‘aynu taladh-dhudhī_

He is the one such that no supplicant has ever called out using his name without being answered; and his remembrance is the very essence of my delight.

**4.** بِهِ آدَمٌ قَدْ تِـــيبَ حِيــــنَ تَقَطَّعَـــتْ / وَسَائِلُهُ مَــــا إِنْ يَرَى مِنْ مُنَقِّـــذِ

_Bihi Ādamu qad tība ḥīna taqaṭ-ṭa‘at / Wasā’iluhu mā in yarā min munaqqidhī_

Through him, Adam’s repentance was accepted when all his means were cut off and he saw no other rescuer.

**5.** وَنُوحٌ وَإِبْرَاهِيمُ مُوسَى وَيُونُـــسٌ / وَعِيسَى وَإِسْمَاعِيلُ وَالْكُلُّ جِهْبِذِي

_Wa-Nūḥun wa-Ibrāhīmu Mūsā wa-Yūnusu / Wa-‘Īsā wa-Ismā‘īlu wal-kullu jihbidhī_

And Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jonah, Jesus, and Ishmael—every one of them a brilliant master—[relied on him].

**6.** عَلَيْــــــــهِ صَـــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُــــمَّ سَلاَمُـــهُ / فَإِنِّي لِوَصْلِ الْمُصْطَفَى الْغَوْثِ كَالَّــذِي

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Fa-innī li-waṣli al-Muṣṭafā al-ghawthi kal-ladhī_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; for indeed, I am [striving] for union with the Chosen One, the Succor.

**7.** عَلَيْــــــــــهِ صَــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُــــمَّ سَلاَمُـــهُ / فَـــــلاَ اَكُ يَوْمًــــا فِـــي سِــوَاهُ تَلَــذُّذِي

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Falā aku yawman fī siwāhu taladh-dhudhī_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; may I never find sweetness in anything other than him.

**8.** عَلَيْــــــــــهِ صَــــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــمَّ سَلاَمُـــهُ / أَجُـــــــــودُ بِمَـــــــــدْحٍ فَائِــــقٍ لِزُمُـــرُّذِ

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Ajūdu bi-madḥin fā’iqin li-zumurrudhī_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; I offer a praise that surpasses the beauty of emeralds.

**9.** عَلَيْــــــهِ صَــــــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُــــمَّ سَلاَمُـــهُ / أَغِثْنَـــا بِيُمْـــــنِ الْـهَاشِمِــــيِّ وَأَنْقِـــــذِ

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Aghithnā bi-yumni al-Hāshimiyyi wa-anqidhī_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; aid us and rescue us through the blessing of the Hashemite.

**10.** عَلَيْــــهِ صَــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــــــمَّ سَلاَمُــــــهُ / لِتُطْرِحْ رُؤُوسَ الْكُفْـــرِ طُرًّا وَتَنْبُــذِ

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Li-tuṭriḥ ru’ūsa al-kufri ṭurran wa-tanbudhī_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; that the heads of disbelief may be cast down entirely and discarded.
