# Harful Ghayn · حَرْفُ الْغَيْنِ

**1.** غَمَـــــامٌ بِـــــآلاَءِ الْإِلَـــهِ السَّوَابِـــغِ / قَدْ أَرْسَلَهُ الْمَوْلَـى إِلَـــى كُلِّ بَالِـــغِ

_Ghamāmun bi-ālā’i al-ilāhi al-sawābighi / Qad ar-salahu al-Mawlā ila kulli bālighi_

He is a cloud carrying the abundant favors of God, which the Master has sent to every mature soul.

**2.** وَذَلِكَ شَرْعُ الْمُصْطَفَى وَكِتَابُهُ / فَفِيهِ بِشَــارَاتٌ وَكُـــلُّ الدَّوَامِــغِ

_Wa-dhālika shar-‘u al-Muṣṭafā wa-kitābuhu / Fa-fīhi bishārātun wa-kullu al-dawāmighi_

That is the Law of the Chosen One and his Book; within it are glad tidings and all that crushes falsehood.

**3.** فَأَبْطِلْ أَيَا مَوْلاَيَ كُـــــلَّ مُمَــوَّهٍ / بِوَاضِحِ بُرْهَانٍ عَلاَ كُــلَّ دَامِـــغِ

_Fa-abṭil ayā mawlāya kulla mumaw-wahin / Bi-wāḍiḥi bur-hānin ‘alā kulli dāmighi_

So, O my Master, nullify every deception with a clear proof that rises above every falsifier.

**4.** أَغِثْنَا أَيَا مَوْلاَيَ مَـــنْ جَلَّ ذِكْـــرُهُ / فَنُكْسَى مِــــنَ الْآلاَ بِكُــلِّ السَّوَابِــغِ

_Aghith-nā ayā mawlāya man jalla dhikruhu / Fa-nuk-sā mina al-ālā bi-kulli al-sawābighi_

Succor us, O my Master—Exalted is His mention—so that we may be clothed in favors of every abundance.

**5.** أَغِثْنَـــــا أَغِثْنَــــا يَا مُغِيـــثُ فَإِنَّنَــا / أَلِفْنَا بِكَ النَّعْمَـــاءَ مِـــنْ كُلِّ سَابِــغِ

_Aghith-nā aghith-nā yā Mughīthu fa-innanā / Alif-nā bika al-na‘mā’a min kulli sābighi_

Succor us, succor us, O Granter of Succor, for we have become accustomed through You to every ample blessing.

**6.** فَــإِنْ لَمْ تُدَارِكْ فِي الْبِلاَدِ وَأَهْلِهَا / وَحَاشَــاكَ ذَاقُوا مَطْعَمًا غَيْرَ سَـائِـغِ

_Fa-in lam tudārik fī al-bilādi wa-ahlihā / Wa-ḥāshāka dhāqū maṭ-‘aman ghayra sā’ighi_

For if You do not reach the lands and their people—and far be it from You to let them perish—they would taste food that is not palatable.

**7.** فَيَا رَبِّ عَافِ الْعَبْدَ وَالصَّحْبَ جُمْلَةً / وَإِنِّيَ فِي الطَّاعَاتِ غَيْـــــرُ مُبَالِـــغِ

_Fa-yā rabbi ‘āfi al-‘abda wal-ṣaḥba jumlatan / Wa-innī fī al-ṭā‘āti ghayru mubālighi_

O my Lord, grant wellbeing to this servant and all his companions, even though I am not one who excels in acts of obedience.

**8.** وَلَكِنَّ حُبِّــــي فِـــي الْأَمِيـــنِ مُحَكَّــمٌ / وَذَاكَ صِبَاغُ الْحَقِّ أَحْسَنُ صَابِـــغِ

_Wa-lakinna ḥubbī fī al-Amīni muḥakkamun / Wa-dhāka ṣibāghu al-ḥaqqi aḥsanu ṣābighi_

But my love for the Trustworthy One is firmly established, and that is the Dye of Truth—the most beautiful of dyes.

**9.** عَلَيْـــــهِ صَـــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُــــمَّ سَلاَمُـــهُ / لِيُشْرِقَ فِــــي قَلْبِـــي سَنَا كُــلِّ بَازِغِ

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Li-yush-riqa fī qalbī sanā kulli bāzighi_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace, so that the brilliance of every rising light may shine in my heart.

**10.** عَلَيْـــــــهِ صَــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / عَلَى بَـــرْقِ مُــــزْنٍ بِالْمَرَابِـحِ بَالِــغِ

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / ‘Ala bar-qi muz-nin bil-marābiḥi bālighi_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace, to the count of the lightning in the rain-clouds that brings profit.

**11.** عَلَيْــــــهِ صَــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / صَلاَةً وَتَسْلِيمًا عَدِيــــدَ الْبَـــوَازِغِ

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Ṣalātan wa-taslīman ‘adīda al-bawāzighi_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; a prayer and a greeting as numerous as the rising stars.
