# Harful Dhaal · حَرْفُ الذَّالِ

**1.** ذَلِيلٌ حَقِيرٌ آخِذًا حُبَّكُمْ غِــــــذَا / أَتَى مُسْتَغِيثَا حَذْوَ مَنْ قَبْلَهُ حَذَا

_Dhalīlun ḥaqīrun ākhidhan ḥubbaka ghidhā / Atā mustaghīthan ḥadhwa man qablahu ḥadhā_

Humble and lowly, taking your love as my nourishment, he has come seeking succor, following the path of those who went before him.

**2.** فَأَنْتَ أَبَا الْأَجْوَادِ مَصْرِفُ مِدْحَتِي / مِنَ الْعَبْدِ بَرْهَامَ الْحَقِيرِ الثَّنَا خُـذَا

_Fa-anta aba al-ajwādi maṣrifu mid-ḥatī / Mina al-‘abdi Bar-hāma al-ḥaqīri al-thanā khudhā_

For you, O father of the generous, are the destination of my praise; from the lowly servant Ibrahim, accept this extolling.

**3.** تَلَوْتُ ثَنَاءَ الْحَـــقِّ جَـــلَّ جَلاَلُــهُ / عَلَيْكَ فَمَا يُغْنِي الْمَصَاقِعُ بَعْــدَ ذَا

_Talawtu thanā’a al-Ḥaqqi jalla jalāluhu / ‘Alayka famā yughnī al-maṣāqi‘u ba‘da dhā_

I have recited the praise of the Truth (Allah)—Exalted is His Majesty—upon you; so what use are the most eloquent orators after that?

**4.** تَقَبَّلْ ثَنَا بَرْهَامَ أَجْزِلْ عَطَـــاءَهُ / فَإِنَّكَ مِعْطَاءُ الْجَزِيـــلِ وَلاَ أَذَى

_Taqabbal thanā Bar-hāma ajzil ‘aṭā’ahu / Fa-innaka mi‘ṭā’u al-jazīli wa-lā adhā_

Accept the praise of Ibrahim and magnify his reward, for you are the giver of abundance without causing any reproach.

**5.** عَلَيْهِ صَـــــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُــــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / صَلاَةً أَرَى الْمَاحِي لِذَا الْعَبْدِ مُنْقِــذَا

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Ṣalātan arā al-Māḥī lidhā al-‘abdi munqidhā_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; a prayer through which I see the Eraser as the rescuer for this servant.

**6.** عَلَيْــــــــهِ صَـــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــــمَّ سَلاَمُــــهُ / يَكُونُ هَوَى الْمَاحِي مَدَى الدَّهْرِ لِي غِذَا

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Yakūnu hawa al-Māḥī madā al-dahri lī ghidhā_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; may the love of the Eraser remain my nourishment for all of eternity.

**7.** عَلَيْهِ صَــــــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُــــمَّ سَلاَمُـــهُ / وَآلٍ وَأَصْحَابٍ أَرَى الْكُلَّ جِهْبِـــذَا

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Wa-ālin wa-asḥābin arā al-kulla jihbidhā_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace, and upon the family and companions, every one of whom I see as a brilliant master.
