From [Ad-Dawaawiinu s-Sitta · الدواوين الست](https://qasaaid.zayfir.app/app/qasaaid/691f292bc02b144934a4ec1f) by [Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass](https://qasaaid.zayfir.app/app/authors/69172463686829cc1d041df5)

_A-min dhikri khayri al-khalqi wa-huwa munīru / samā laka shawqun lāta ḥīna tasīru_

Is it from the mention of the Best of Creation—who is a light—that a longing has risen for you? This is no time for slow walking.

_Muḥammadu mukhtāru al-ilāhi ṣafiyyuhu / wa-min ‘indihi qad jā’a wa-huwa bashīru_

Muhammad is the Chosen One of God, His elite; from Him he has come as a bringer of glad tidings.

_Muḥammadu maḥmūdu al-maqāmi munabba’un / wa-Ādamu ṭīnun wal-bashīru nadhīru_

Muhammad possesses the "Praised Station" (Maqam al-Mahmud), a Prophet commissioned while Adam was still clay; the bringer of tidings and the warner.

_Kalāmun qadīmun laysa ḥarfan wa-innahu / la-waḥyun wa-bārī al-‘ālamīna mushīru_

He is a "Pre-existent Speech" (Quran), not merely letters; he is a Revelation, and the Creator of the worlds is the Indicator.

_Wa-lā ismun wa-lā fi‘lun fa-raqqa kalāmuhu / ‘ani al-sam‘i wal-ta‘bīri wa-huwa zabūru_

Neither a Name nor a Verb; his speech is too subtle for hearing or expression—it is a Psalm (Zabur).

_Bal amrun maḍā mustaqbalan kāna lam yakun / yuḍāri‘u waḥya al-ghayri wa-huwa khabīru_

Rather, he is an eternal Command that transcends time; no other revelation compares to him, and he is the Expert.

_Talaqqāhu khayru al-‘urbi wa-huwa mubayyinun / banā qubbata al-islāmi wa-hiya quṣūru_

The best of Arabs received it, being its clarifier; he built the dome of Islam, which is a collection of palaces.

_Fa-kassara aṣnāman bi-fatḥin wa-ḍammanā / ila ḥizbihi jazman wa-tamma surūru_

He shattered idols with victory and firmly included us in his party; thus our joy was completed.

_Fa-qismun bi-raf‘in khaṣṣahu bi-niyābatin / wa-ākharu makhfūḍun wa-dhāka jazūru_

One part [of the world] he raised high through his vicegerency (Raf‘), while another was lowered (Makhfud) like a slaughtered beast.

_Ta‘arrafa fīhi al-ḥaqqu wa-huwa munakkarun / wa-huwa mubtadā al-kawnayni wa-huwa akhīru_

Through him, the Truth (Allah) became known though He was "Unspecified" (Munakkar); he is the "Starting Point" (Mubtada') of the two universes and their "End" (Akhir).

_Wa-asmā’uhu a‘lāmu ashkhāṣi ildatī / wa-mahmā tarānī fal-Rasūlu ḍamīru_

His names are the proper nouns (A‘lam) of my siblings; and whenever you see me, the Messenger is my hidden "Pronoun" (Damir).

_Fa-innī bihi al-mawṣūlu wa-huwa ishāratī / bihi wa-ilayhi fal-mushīru munīru_

Through him I am "Connected" (Mawsul), and he is my "Demonstrative" (Ishara); through him and toward him, for the Indicator is illuminating.

_Huwa al-fā‘ilu al-marfū‘u bi-ḍammi nā’iban / ‘ani al-ḥaḍrati al-‘ulyā wa-huwa jadīru_

He is the "Subject" (Fa‘il) raised by the "Union" (Damm), acting on behalf of the High Presence—and he is worthy of it.

_Wa-qad tamma fi‘lu al-Muṣṭafā wa-huwa nāsikhun / nabiyyun li-kulli al-anbiyā’i safīru_

The action of the Chosen One is complete, and he is the "Abrogator" (Nasikh); a Prophet who is an ambassador for all other Prophets.

_Huwa al-ḥasanu al-waj-hi al-jamīlu ṣifātuhu / laqad khajalat idh jā’a Ṭāhā budūru_

He is the one with the beautiful face and lovely attributes; the full moons were put to shame when Taha appeared.

_Wa-himmatuhu tuzrī al-duhūra wa-kaffuhu / taghīḍu matā ḥākat nadā-hā buḥūru_

His high ambition puts the ages to shame, and his palm makes the oceans recede when they try to mimic his generosity.

_Wa-qad shaghala al-Hādī jamālu ilāhihi / fa-lāzamahu ṭūla al-zamāni ḥuḍūru_

The beauty of his Lord occupied the Guide; thus "Presence" (Hudūr) accompanied him throughout all time.

_Fa-iḥsānuhu wal-ḥusnu fīhi tanāza‘ā / wa-subḥāna man mā shā ‘alayhi qadīru_

Excellence (Iḥsān) and Beauty (Ḥusn) contended within him; and Glory be to the One who is Powerful over all He wills.

_Tarā kulla maf‘ūlī bi-fi‘li Muḥammadin / wa-ḥālī wa-tamyīzī ilayhi yushīru_

You see all my "Objects" (Maf‘ūlī) as resulting from the "Action" of Muhammad; my "State" (Hāl) and my "Specification" (Tamyīz) point toward him.

_Uḍīfu ilayhi kulla na‘tin mu’akkidan / dhimāmī wa-‘atfī wal-Amīnu mujīru_

I "Annex" (Uḍīfu) every attribute to him, confirming my covenant and my affection; and the Trustworthy One is my protector.

_Ukhāṭibuhu bil-mad-ḥi wa-huwa bi-Ṭaybatin / wa-shadda-sh-tiyāqī wal-dumū‘u ghazīru_

I address him with praise while he is in Medina (Tayba); my longing has strengthened and my tears are abundant.

_Ukhāṭibuhu bil-mad-ḥi laylī masarratan / ilayhi masīrī wal-fu’ādu qarīru_

I address him with praise during my night as a joy; toward him is my journey, and my heart is at peace.

_Ukhāṭibuhu bil-mad-ḥi laylī bi-Kawlakhu / wa-qad nāma jārātī wa-sudda thughūru_

I address him with praise during my night in Kaolack, while my neighbors sleep and the borders are closed.

_Ukhāṭibuhu shawqan wa-wajdan wa-law‘atan / alūdhu bihi yawma al-samā’u tamūru_

I address him out of longing, ecstasy, and passion; I seek refuge in him on the Day when the sky shall heave.

_Ujāwiruhu bil-khul-di jāran muqarraban / yu’amminunī wal-yawmu thamma ‘asīru_

I shall be his neighbor in Eternity, a close neighbor; he shall grant me safety when that Day becomes difficult.

_Uḥāwiruhu bish-shi‘ri wal-qalami al-ladhī / yakūnu ḥijābī wal-sa‘īru tafūru_

I converse with him through poetry and the pen; it shall be my veil when the Blazing Fire roars.

_Ila kulli makhlūqin analta mawāhiba / wa-hādhā ‘ubaydun mudhnibun wa-ḥaqīru_

To every creature you have granted gifts; and here is a small servant, a sinner and lowly.

_Wa-lakinnahu jārun muḥibbun wa-khādimun / bi-faḍlika hā-huwa bil-‘aṭā’i jadīru_

But he is a loving neighbor and a servant; by your grace, he is worthy of your bounty.

_Wa-laysa yubālī man siwāka amādirun / ami al-Barmakī am dhū ghinan wa-faqīru_

He cares not who else is there—whether the generous Amadir, the Barmakid, the wealthy, or the poor.

_Fa-siyyāni ‘indī dhāni lam ar-ju ghayrahu / manālu ḥabībī yastamirru yudīru_

These two are the same to me, for I hope in none but him; the gift of my beloved continues to circulate.

_Fa-jūdu Rasūli Allāhi Aḥmada sayyidī / idhā ḍanna ajwādu al-anāmi kathīrun_

For the generosity of the Messenger of Allah, Ahmad my master, is abundant when the generous of mankind are stingy.

_Fa-min jūdihi al-kawnāni wal-‘ālamu al-ladhī / taqāṣara ḥissun ‘anhu wa-huwa kabīru_

From his generosity come the two universes and the world which is too vast for the senses to perceive.

_Fa-amrun ta‘ālā ‘an khuṭūrin wa-khāṭirin / wa-subḥāna man ‘abdun ladayhi bashīru_

A matter that transcends thought and imagination; and Glory be to the One whose servant is a Bringer of Tidings.

_Arā kulla shay’in mā ḥalā Allāha bāṭilan / wa-mā al-naṣ-ru illā minhu wa-huwa al-Naṣīru_

I see everything besides Allah as false; and there is no victory except from Him, and He is the Helper.

_Wa-inna ḥabība Allāhi Ṭāhā najiyyahu / ṣafiyyu ilāhi al-khal-qi wa-huwa wazīru_

Indeed, the Beloved of Allah, Taha, is His intimate confidant; the elite of the Creator and His vizier.

_‘Alayhi-khtiyāran anzala al-dhikra qā’idan / bashīran nadhīran ṣābirun wa-shakūru_

By choice, He sent down the Remembrance upon him as a leader; a bringer of tidings, a warner, patient and thankful.

_Fa-jam‘ī wa-taṣrīfī li-ḥubbi Muḥammadin / kadhalika bay‘ī hal tarāhu yabūru_

My "Gathering" (Jam‘) and my "Inflection" (Taṣrīf) are for the love of Muhammad; likewise my trade—do you see it ever perishing?

_Idhā ‘ud-dida al-aqwāmu yawman wa-fākharū / fakhāran fa-innī bil-Amīni fakhūru_

If the peoples are ever counted and boast of their pride, I am proud through the Trustworthy One.

_Wa-ḥubbī ṣaḥīḥun thābitun mutawātirun / qafawtu abī qāsāhu wa-huwa kabīru_

My love is "Authentic" (Sahih), "Firm" (Thabit), and "Mass-transmitted" (Mutawatir); I followed my father who endured for it when he was old.

_Wa-baḥrun basīṭun kāmilu al-maddi wāfirun / wa-kawnī iyyāhu ‘alayhi yasīru_

A "Simple" (Basit), "Complete" (Kamil), and "Abundant" (Wafir) ocean; and my being "Him" is easy for him.

_Bi-faḍ-li ilāhi al-nāsi jalla jalāluhu / anālu marāman minhu shāba ṣaghīru_

By the grace of the Lord of mankind—Exalted is His Majesty—I attain a goal that would make a child turn gray.

_Taṣawwuru ḥālāti al-Amīni mulāzimī / wa-qad tamma taṣdīqī wa-dhāka shahīru_

Contemplating the states of the Trustworthy One is my constant companion; my belief in him is complete, and that is well-known.

_Fa-hal bi-‘Aqīqin lī marādun wa-masraḥun / uṣallī ‘alā khayri al-warā wa-azūru_

Is there a place for me in the valley of al-Aqiq to fulfill my desire? To pray upon the Best of Creation and visit him?

_Sirājun munīrun bayyana Allāhu amrahu / bi-mawlidihi idh hudda minhu quṣūru_

He is an illuminating lamp; Allah clarified his affair at his birth, when palaces were demolished because of it.

_Wa-qad khamada al-nīrānu ghārat ‘uyūnuhum / bi-ṭal‘ati man minhu yasīlu namīru_

The fires [of Persia] were extinguished and their springs receded at the appearance of the one from whom the sweet water flows.

_Wa-qad hatafat tilka al-hawātifu afṣaḥat / bahā’imu an qad jā’a wa-huwa nadhīru_

The unseen callers shouted, and the animals spoke clearly: "He has come as a Warner!"

_Laqad jā’anā minnā rasūlan li-kullinā / ra’ūfan raḥīman bil-khamīsi yasīru_

He has come to us from among ourselves as a Messenger for us all; kind and merciful, marching with the army.

_Tarā’at quṣūru al-Rūmi ‘inda burūzihi / fa-ṭārat qulūbun aw takādu taṭīru_

The palaces of Rome appeared at his emergence; hearts flew, or were about to fly.

_Wa-dallat qaḍāyā shakhṣiyyātun bi-annahu / la-akmalu makhlūqin afī-hi nakīru_

Biographical facts have proven that he is the most perfect of creatures—is there any denier of this?

_Fa-lā shak-la lil-Māḥī al-ḍalāla fa-innahu / lahu jawharun fardun khalā-hu naẓīru_

There is no peer for the "Eraser" of misguidance; he is a "Unique Essence" (Jawhar Fard) without an equal.

_Wa-qad kāna makhṣūṣan wa-jā’a mu‘ammiman / jadan wa-nadan lil-musnitīna yasīru_

He was specially chosen, yet he came as a universal giver of bounty and rain to the drought-stricken.

_Afāḍa al-nadā lil-kulli aṭlaqa saybahu / ḍa‘īfu unāsin nālahu wa-khaṭīru_

He poured out generosity to all, releasing his gift; both the weak and the prominent among people received it.

_Bi-ghāri Ḥirā’in jā’ahu al-waḥ-yu idh ghadā / riyāḍu jinānin ‘indahu wa-sa‘īru_

In the cave of Hira, the Revelation came to him; whereas gardens of Paradise and the Blazing Fire became present before him.

_Fa-dhā li-yamīnin jā’a Aḥmada qābila / awāmirahu wal-baḥ-ru laysa yaghūru_

This Ahmad came for the "People of the Right," accepting His commands; and his ocean never runs dry.

_Wa-khiz-yun li-aṣ-ḥābi al-shimāli yuṣībuhu / jahūlun ‘aṣā al-Hādī wa-minhu fujūru_

Disgrace shall strike the "People of the Left"—the ignorant who disobeyed the Guide with profligacy.

_Idhā jāda bil-ma‘rūfi fal-kulli ghānimun / wa-yā wayḥa ahli al-shir-ki ḥīna yughīru_

When he grants what is good, everyone is a winner; and woe to the people of polytheism when he raids.

_Fa-sal ‘an Ḥunaynin ba‘da Badrin wa-sal-humu / ‘an ahli kitābin ḥīna khāna Naḍīru_

Ask about Hunayn after Badr, and ask them about the "People of the Book" when the Banu Nadir betrayed.

_Wa-Khaybara bal wādī al-qurā wa-Qurayẓatin / wa-Makkata idh khaylu al-Rasūli tuthīru_

Ask about Khaybar, the Valley of al-Qura, the Banu Qurayza, and Makkah when the Messenger's horses stirred the dust.

_Ḥajūnun tabaddā fīhi khaylu Muḥammadin / liwā’u amīni Allāhi fawqu yaṭīru_

At al-Hajun, the horses of Muhammad appeared; the banner of the Trustworthy One of Allah was flying above.

_Fa-qad waṭi’a al-Māḥī riqāba shunātihi / wa-wāfā ila al-Baṭ-ḥā’i wa-huwa waqūru_

The "Eraser" stepped upon the necks of those who hated him; and he arrived at the valley of Makkah with dignity.

_Rijālu Qurayshin taḥta ẓilli suyūfihi / fa-aghḍā wa-lā tath-rība qāla ṣabūru_

The men of Quraysh were under the shadow of his swords; yet he overlooked them—"No reproach," said the Patient One.

_Wa-qad farra Ṣafwānun wa-bāta mugharraban / wa-qad lāna ṣakhrun idh talīnu ṣukhūru_

Safwan fled and spent the night as an exile; even the hard rock softened when the mountains of opposition softened.

_Wa-kassara ‘Uzzā Lāta ḥīna Manātihim / wa-qad sumi‘a al-takbīru tamma ḥubūru_

He shattered Uzza and Lat, and their Manat; the Takbir was heard and joy was completed.

_Wa-Nā’ilatun ta‘wī Isāfun mudammarun / kadhā Hubalu al-mukh-zā da‘ā-hā thubūru_

Na’ila wailed and Isaf was destroyed; likewise the disgraced Hubal was called to its ruin.

_Qul al-ḥaqqu jā’a wa-huwa dīnu Muḥammadin / wa-malkun abā an yaqtafī-hi ḥaqīru_

Say: "The Truth has come," and it is the religion of Muhammad; a kingdom that even the lowly refused to follow.

_Qadi-htazza baytu Allāhi idh ṭāfa āminan / bihi Ḥāshirun wal-qalbu thamma qarīru_

The House of Allah (the Kaaba) shook with joy as the "Gatherer" performed Tawaf in safety, his heart at peace.

_Wa-ab-ṭala aḥkāma al-jahālati nāṣiban / sharī‘atahu al-gharrā wa-fukka asīru_

He nullified the rulings of ignorance, establishing his radiant Sacred Law and freeing the captive.

_Bi-ḥaqni dimā’in wal-ṣiyānati dā’iman / li-‘irḍin wa-mālin mā-stamara duhūru_

By the sparing of blood and constant protection of honor and wealth throughout the ages.

_Wa-akmalahu wal-ḥamdu lillāhi waḥdahu / ṣalātun ‘alā hādī al-khalā’iqi nūru_

And he completed it—Praise be to Allah alone; prayer upon the Guide of creation, who is a Light.

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / jafīrī ḥabību Allāhi wa-huwa khafīru_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; my quiver is the Beloved of Allah, and he is my guard.

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / ṣalātan ‘ala al-Hādī ilayhi shakūru_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; a prayer from a grateful one toward the Guide.

_‘Alayhi ma‘a al-āli al-kirāmi wa-ṣaḥ-bihi / ḥabībī manṣūrun wa-ghayru yabūru_

Upon him, along with the noble family and his companions; my beloved is victorious and never perishes.
