Harful Faa ·
From Ad-Dawaawiinu s-Sitta · الدواوين الست by Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass
Fa-wā asafā bāna al-naqā dhāka yu’sifu
Tarānī ka-Ya‘qūba na’ā ‘anhu Yūsufu
Alas, the pure land has become distant, and that is truly sorrowful; you see me like Jacob when Joseph was far from him.
‘Asānī wa-laytī al-yawma ātī mukhayyamā
Bi-wādī ‘Aqīqin mar-ba‘an kuntu aylafu
Perhaps, and would that it were so, I might today reach the encampment in the Valley of al-Aqiq, a dwelling I used to frequent.
Maghānin bi-hā ḥalla al-hudā adh‘ana al-‘idā
Wa-fāḍa al-nadā lil-kulli wal-kullu yagh-rifu
Places where Guidance settled, where enemies submitted, and where bounty overflowed for everyone, and everyone scooped from it.
Maghānin tunādī bil-sa‘ādati sarmadā
Ḥanājiru-hā baḥ-ḥat wa-dhū al-‘aq-li yun-ṣifu
Places that call out with eternal happiness; their throats have become hoarse [from calling], and the one of intellect is just.
Maghāni nabiyyi Allāhi khāzini sirrihi
Bi-hi ‘arafa al-Bārī al-fuḥūlu wa-‘arrafū
The dwellings of the Prophet of Allah, the treasurer of His secret; through him, the great masters knew the Creator and made Him known.
Bi-hi ‘ullima al-asmā’a Ādamu aṣluhu
Lidhā sajada al-amlāku idh jā’a yakhlufu
Through him, Adam—his origin—was taught the Names; thus the angels prostrated when he came as a vicegerent.
Fa-minhu atānī al-‘ilmu wal-fayḍu wal-hudā
Wa-qad fuqtu fī al-‘ir-fāni man kāna ya‘rifu
From him came my knowledge, my spiritual flood, and my guidance; and I have surpassed in Gnosis those who used to know.
Tarā dhāka shaṭ-ḥan aw tarāhu taḥadduthā
Bi-na‘mā’ihi am dhāka minhu ta‘ar-rufu
Do you see that as an ecstatic claim (Shat-h), or do you see it as "speaking of His blessings," or is it a Divine recognition from Him?
Faman shā’a dhā aw dhāka siyyāni innamā
Murādī thanā’u al-baḥ-ri al-ladhī minhu agh-rifu
Whoever wishes for this or that, they are the same to me; my only desire is to praise the Ocean from which I scoop.
Wa-innī muḥibbun shā‘irun khādimun lahu
‘Alā khaḍrati al-Hādī fu’ādī muṭawwafu
Indeed, I am a lover, a poet, and a servant to him; around the Green Dome of the Guide, my heart is constantly performing Tawaf.
‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu
Falam al-qa a‘mālan lahā atak-hawwafu
Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; [with it] I find no deeds over which I must feel fear.
‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu
Ṣalātī wa-taslīmī bi-hā atasharrafu
Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; by my prayer and salutation, I am honored.
‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu
Uḥibbu al-Rasūla al-Hāshimiyya wa-ahrifu
Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; I love the Hashemite Messenger and I speak of him incessantly.
‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu
Madā al-dahri fī janbi al-Amīni uṣannifu
Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; throughout all time, I shall compose works by the side of the Trustworthy One.
‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu
Wa-aj-ma‘u mad-ḥa al-Hāshimiyyi wa-u’allifu
Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; I gather the praises of the Hashemite and I author them.
‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu
‘Alā bāṭili al-ruh-bāni ḥaqqī aq-dhifu
Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; I strike the falsehood of the monks with my Truth.
‘Alayhi ma‘a al-āli al-kirāmi wa-ṣaḥbihi
Madā al-dahri mā ḥajja al-ḥajīju wa-‘arrafū
Upon him, along with the noble family and his companions; as long as the pilgrims perform Hajj and stand at Arafat.
