_A‘innī ‘alā al-tahyāmi wal-burahā’i / Ḥabība ilāhī malja’a al-kuramā’i_

Help me in my ecstatic wandering and intense grief, O Beloved of my God, the refuge of the noble ones!

_Ariqtu wa-mā bī shawqu jaydā’a ṭaflatin / Khadallaji sāqin fī kamāli bahā’i_

I spent a sleepless night, yet not out of longing for a slender girl of perfect beauty;

_Wa-lā shāqanī rayyā al-damāliji sājiyan / Lahā al-ṭarfu kal-burghūzi bayna malā’i_

Nor was I moved by the one with rounded arms and a tranquil gaze like a young gazelle.

_Arā kulla insānin buliya bi-maḥabbatin / Fakullun wa-Laylāhu wa-Ṭāhā balā’ī_

I see every human being afflicted with a love; everyone has their "Layla," but Taha is my affliction.

_Abītu urā‘ī al-najma shawqan wa-jīratī / Niyāmun wa-nāru al-shawqi bayna ḥashā’ī_

I spend the night watching the stars in longing, while my neighbors sleep and the fire of yearning burns within my chest.

_Wa-mā shāqanī ḥattā wa-lā rab‘u ‘Azzatin / Fa-shawqī li-Zarqā al-‘ayni wa-hiya munā’ī_

I was not moved even by the dwelling of "Azza"; for my longing is for the "Blue-Eyed One" (Medina/The Prophet)—he is my ultimate desire.

_Ila Aḥmada abhā al-warā ajwadi al-warā / Wa-laysa yudānā fī kamāli wafā’i_

Toward Ahmad, the most radiant of creation, the most generous; none can approach him in the perfection of loyalty.

_Ajalli al-warā qadran wa-ṣihran wa-‘unṣuran / Wa-akrami man ya‘lū ‘anāna samā’i_

The most majestic in rank, in lineage, and in essence; the noblest of those who rose to the heights of the heaven.

_Amīni ilāhi al-‘ar-shi markazi sirrihi / Wa-qad fāḍa minhu al-‘ilmu lil-‘ulamā’i_

The Trustworthy One of the Lord of the Throne, the center of His Secret; from him, knowledge has overflowed to the scholars.

_Abā al-Qāsimi al-Māḥī al-ḍalāla Muḥammadan / Wa-khayra ma‘addin maf-khara al-kubarā’i_

O Father of Qasim! The Eraser of misguidance, Muhammad; the best of the lineage of Ma'ad, the pride of the great ones.

_A-yurjā nawālun min siwākum wa-qad ḥawā / Al-ladhīna maḍaw minkum kamāla ḥibā’i_

Can bounty be hoped for from any besides you? When those of the past attained their perfect gifts only through you.

Do the noble Messengers take refuge in you, yet there is no room for this servant, Ibrahim, on the Day of Meeting?

_A-tu‘ṭī jamī‘a al-‘ālamīna wa-khādimun / Muḥibbun atākum lam ya’ub bi-‘aṭā’i_

Do you give to all the worlds, while a loving servant comes to you and returns without a gift?

_A-tatruku ‘abdan qad atāka muqarriẓan / Wa-min jūdika al-ukhrā kamithli al-dunā’i_

Would you leave a servant who came to you praising you? While from your generosity, the Hereafter is as small as this lowly world.

_Ayā shāfi‘an fī al-nāsi bil-ḥash-ri sayyidan / Talūdhu bihi al-abṣāru rabba liwā’i_

O Intercessor for the people at the Gathering! The Master toward whom all eyes turn, the Lord of the Banner.

_Wa-qad khāfa ūlū al-‘az-mi wal-ḥālu innahum / Lahum ‘iṣmatun ta’bā li-fi‘li khaṭā’i_

The "Messengers of Firm Resolve" (Ulu al-Azm) were afraid, even though they possess infallibility that prevents any error.

_Wa-qad khāḍa‘a al-amlāku wal-kullu qā’ilun / Lada dhāka naf-sī lam ubal li-siwā’ī_

The angels humbled themselves, and everyone was saying at that moment: "Myself! I care for no one else."

_Hunālika kharra al-Muṣṭafā sājidan liman / Lahu al-amru idh yuthnī bi-khayri al-thanā’i_

There, the Chosen One fell prostrate to the One who holds the Command, as he offered the most beautiful praise.

_Wa-qāla lahu sal tu‘ṭa wash-fa‘ wa-anqidhan / Fa-innaka maqbūlun wa-ahlu ‘aṭā’i_

And He (Allah) said to him: "Ask, and you shall be given; intercede, and your intercession is accepted; and rescue, for you are accepted and the possessor of bounty."

_Fa-qumta maqāman qad taqāṣara dūnahu / Akābiru ruslin hum nujūmu samā’i_

So you stood in a station that the greatest of Messengers—the stars of the heaven—could not reach.

_Ayā sayyidī innī-stajartu bi-ḥubbikum / Falā ḍarranī ḥawbī wa-kullu jafā’i_

O my Master! I have sought protection in your love; so let not my sins or any estrangement harm me.

_Wa-lā ḍarranī ṣar-fu al-zamāni wa-lā arā / Shamātata a‘dā’in wa-sū’a qaḍā’i_

Let not the passage of time harm me, and let me not see the malice of enemies or an evil decree.

_Wa-lā salaban mimmā ‘amiltu wa-lā-nthanat / Biya al-naf-su wal-ahwā wa-kaydu ‘adā’i_

Let there be no stripping of what I have achieved, and let not my soul, my whims, or the plots of enemies turn me away.

_Wa-lā ḍarranī mak-run wa-faq-run wa-lā ghinan / Amūtu wa-aḥyā ‘abda rabbi al-samā’i_

Let not cunning, poverty, or wealth harm me; I die and live as a servant of the Lord of the Heaven.

_‘Alā annanī rāḍin bi-kulli fi‘ālihi / Muṭā’ṭi’a ra’sin fī maqāmi al-riḍā’i_

For I am satisfied with all His actions, bowing my head in the station of Pleasure (Rida).

_Usā’iluhu luṭfan wa-faḍ-lan wa-raḥ-matan / Wa-‘āfiyatan takfī jamī‘a balā’i_

I ask Him for kindness, grace, and mercy; and for well-being that suffices against every affliction.

_Wa-jāzi aḥibbā’ī wa-anṣāra man-hajī / Bi-nayli murādin ma‘ kamāli riḍā’i_

And reward my beloveds and the supporters of my path, by granting them their desires along with perfect pleasure.

_Wa-bārik lahum fī fi‘lihim wa-nufūsihim / Wa-ālin wa-awlādin wa-kulli tharā’i_

And bless them in their actions, their souls, their families, their children, and all their wealth.

_Falā dhashun yukh-shā wa-hum bi-ḥimākumu / Wa-lā ‘aṭashun idh minka kullu siqā’i_

No confusion is to be feared while they are under your protection; and no thirst, for from you comes every drink.

_Bi-jāhi nabiyyi al-anbiyā’i wa-ḥiz-bihi / Wa-anṣārihi wal-āli āli ‘abā’i_

By the rank of the Prophet of Prophets and his party; his supporters and the Family of the Cloak (Al al-‘Abā’).

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Ṣalātan bi-hā yanfakku kullu ghiṭā’i_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; a prayer through which every veil is removed.

_‘Alayhi ṣalātu Allāhi thumma salāmuhu / Ṣalātan wa-taslīman shifā al-burahā’i_

Upon him be the prayer of Allah and then His peace; a prayer and salutation that heals intense grief.

_‘Alayhi ma‘a al-āli al-kirāmi wa-ṣaḥbihi / Ṣalātun wa-taslīmun tuzīlu ṭakhā’ī_

Upon him, along with the noble family and his companions; a prayer and salutation that removes my darkness.
