Ar-Raa Aydwan ·
From Ad-Dawaawiinu s-Sitta · الدواوين الست by Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass
Bil-Muṣṭafā al-Mujtabā al-Mukhtāri min Muḍari
Ta‘alluqī wa-huwa lī fī al-badwi wal-ḥaḍari
With the Chosen, the Elect, the Selected one of Mudar is my attachment; he is my [refuge] in the desert and the city.
Qad dāra bī al-shawqu fī kulli al-bilādi wa-Ṭā-
hā maṭlabī wa-ilayhi muntahā safarī
Longing has circled me through every land; Taha is my quest and to him is the end of my journey.
Nādaytuhu yā Rasūla Allāhi ḍayfuka yar-
jū al-fayḍa wal-‘awna wal-ahlūna fī kadari
I called to him: "O Messenger of Allah! Your guest hopes for the Flood and help, for his family is in distress."
Innī faqīrun waqīrun ḍāri‘un wajilun
Mā lī siwā al-Muṣṭafā al-Mukhtāri min wazarī
Indeed, I am poor, burdened, pleading, and fearful; I have no shelter besides the Chosen, Selected one.
Far-zuq liya al-‘awda manṣūran ladayka wa-taq-
ḍī kulla mā kāna lī fī Allāhi min waṭari
Grant me a return with victory from you, and fulfill every need I have in Allah.
Anta al-ladhī mā atāka al-dahra mun-taṣirun
Illā wa-fāza bi-naṣ-rin ghayri mun-ḥaṣiri
You are the one whom no seeker of victory ever approached without winning an unrestricted triumph.
Wa-dhāka sāra bi-hi al-rukbānu ‘anka falā
Urā akhību wa-khayru al-khal-qi lī wazarī
The riders have traveled spreading this news about you, so I do not see myself failing while the Best of Creation is my shelter.
In ubtu lam un-ṣaran min ‘indi Ṭāhā famā
Aqūlu yā sayyida al-akwāni liz-zumari
If I return without being helped by Taha, what shall I say, O Master of the Universes, to the groups [of followers]?
Immā tajūdu bi-naṣ-rin khāriqin wa-kafā
Aw yar-ji‘u al-jāru minka ghayra mun-taṣiri
Either you grant a miraculous victory—and that is sufficient—or the neighbor [the seeker] returns from you without triumph.
Yā fātiḥan khātiman lil-rusuli nāṣira dī-
ni al-ḥaqqi tar-fa‘u mā bil-‘abdi min ḍarari
O Opener and Sealer of the Messengers! Helper of the religion of Truth! You remove whatever harm afflicts the servant.
Ḥāshāka tur-ji‘u jāran shā‘iran wa-khadī-
man qad atāka li-amrin nālahu khaṭari
Far be it from you to send back a neighbor, a poet, and a servant who came for a matter that has become dangerous.
Yaḍīqu ṣadrī ya-ṭawran yā Amīnu wa-tā-
rātin a‘īshu bi-mā arjū mina al-wazari
My chest becomes constricted at times, O Trustworthy One, and at times I live by the shelter I hope for.
Tuḥawwilu al-ḥāla ḥālan yā Karīmu wa-yā
Bāba al-ilāhi wa-man ‘ādāka fī Saqari
You transform conditions, O Generous One! O Door to God! Whoever opposes you is in the Blazing Fire.
‘Alayka ṣallā ilāhu al-nāsi qāṭibatan
Yā sayyida al-nāsi jud lī minka bil-waṭari
May the God of all people bless you; O Master of people, grant me my need from you.
Muḥammadan khayra khal-qi Allāhi aj-ma‘ihim
‘Abda al-ilāhi al-ladhī qad jā’a ‘alā qadari
Muhammad, the best of all Allah's creation; the servant of God who came by a Divine decree.
Hādī al-barāyā ila al-nah-ji al-qawīmi aghith
Yā man turā āyuhu fī al-shamsi wal-qamari
O Guide of all beings to the straight path, come to my rescue! You whose signs are seen in the sun and the moon.
Wa-fī al-‘anāṣiri qad bānat ‘ajā’ibuhu
Wa-fī al-bahā’imi wal-ash-jāri wal-ḥajari
His wonders are manifest in the elements, in the animals, in the trees, and in the stones.
Wa-fī al-samāwāti wal-āfāqi aj-ma‘ihā
Wa-an-fusi al-nāsi min āyin wa-min ‘ibari
In the heavens and all horizons, and in the souls of people, are signs and lessons [reflecting him].
Wal-tadh-kuran Aba Bakrin wa-tāliyahu
Wa-til-wahu jāmi‘a al-āyāti wal-suwari
And remember Abu Bakr and the one who followed him (Umar), and the one after him (Uthman), the collector of the Verses and Chapters.
Wadh-kur ‘Aliyyan wa-Sa‘dan Ṭal-ḥatan wa-Abā
‘Ubaydata wa-bna ‘Awfin qurrata al-baṣari
And remember Ali, Sa'd, Talha, and Abu 'Ubayda, and the son of 'Awf—the delight of the eyes.
Wa-Jābiran wa-Sa‘īdan wal-Zubayra bi-him
Arjū qaḍā’a shu’ūnin at-‘abat fikarī
And Jabir, Sa'id, and al-Zubayr; through [their rank], I hope for the fulfillment of affairs that have exhausted my thoughts.
Ṣallā al-ilāhu ‘alā man ẓultu sā’ilahu
Man ẓalla yu‘ṭī bilā mannin wa-lā kadari
May God bless the one I continue to ask; the one who gives without reminder or causing distress.
Mā āba bil-muq-taḍā man qāla mum-tadiḥan
Bil-Muṣṭafā al-Mujtabā al-Mukhtāri min Muḍari
He who says in praise has surely returned with his needs fulfilled: "With the Chosen, the Elect, the Selected one of Mudar..."
