Harfun Nuun ·
From Ad-Dawaawiinu s-Sitta · الدواوين الست by Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass
Inna sirrī kalāmu rabbī al-mubīnu
Ay ilāhī al-ladhī bi-hi nasta‘īnu
My secret is the manifest speech of my Lord, the God from whom we seek help.
Faj-‘ali al-rūḥa wal-lisāna dawāman
Wa-fu’ādī matā talawtu yalīnu
Make my spirit and my tongue perpetual [in its mention], and let my heart soften whenever I recite.
Taq-sha‘irru al-julūdu wal-rūḥu yasmū
‘Inda dhikri al-ḥakīmi aw yastabīnu
The skins shiver and the spirit rises at the mention of the Wise One, or it becomes enlightened.
As-luku al-nahja bish-sharī‘ati naḥwa
Al-Ḥaqqi khalfa al-Maṣ-dūqi wa-huwa al-Amīnu
I walk the path by the Sacred Law toward the Truth, behind the "Truthful One" (the Prophet), and he is the Trustworthy.
Nab-tadī ‘inda ḥamdihi thumma namḍī
Nash-hadu al-Ḥaqqa wa-huwa jalla al-mubīnu
We begin with His praise, then we proceed, witnessing the Truth, and He is the Sublime, the Manifest.
Thumma tadh-kāru wa‘dihi wa-huwa wa‘dun
Min karīmin wa-huwa al-Jalīlu al-mu‘īnu
Then the remembrance of His promise—and it is a promise from a Generous One, the Majestic, the Helper.
Wa-nakhāfu al-wa‘īda ayḍan nurajjī
‘Afwahu fal-ghuf-rānu ḥaqqan yakūnu
We fear the threat [of judgment] and also hope for His pardon, for forgiveness truly occurs.
Ḥaythu kunnā lahu sajadnā wa-innā
Qad ‘adimnā siwa al-ilāhi yu‘īnu
Wherever we were, we prostrated to Him; for we found none besides God to help.
Fah-di qalba al-muḥibbi naḥwa ṣirāṭin
Mustaqīmin tar-ḍāhu wa-huwa makīnu
Guide the heart of the lover toward a straight path which You are pleased with, and it is firmly established.
Wa-huwa nahju al-Rasūli lā nahja qawmin
Agh-ḍabūhu wal-kullu minhum la‘īnu
It is the path of the Messenger, not the path of a people who angered him and are all accursed.
Bal-ha dīna al-ulā aḍallū al-barāyā
Thallathū thumma baddalū fa-uhīnū
Far be it from the religion of those who misled creation, made "three" (the Trinity), then changed [the scripture] and were disgraced.
Rabbi hab lī hādhā al-kitāba wa-hab lī
Sirrahu idh mā lī siwāhu mu‘īnu
My Lord! Grant me this Book and grant me its secret, for I have no helper besides it.
Kun naṣīrī wa-kun ṭabībī wa-hab lī
Rashadan anta bir-rashādi qamīnu
Be my supporter and be my physician; grant me right guidance, for You are worthy of guiding.
Dārikan-nī wa-dāriki al-qar-na mawlā
Ya uṣibnā bi-ṣad-matin yā Matīnu
Rescue me and rescue the generation, O Master! We have been struck by a shock, O Firm One.
Sakkini al-raw‘a yā Laṭīfu fa-innā
Qad ‘adimnā siwāka man nasta‘īnu
Calm the fear, O Gentle One! For we have found none besides You from whom to seek help.
Wash-finī thumma ‘āfinī wa‘-fu ‘annī
Waḥ-ṣinannī fal-ḥiṣnu minka ḥaṣīnu
Heal me, grant me well-being, pardon me, and fortify me, for the fortress from You is impenetrable.
A‘ṭinī munyatī wa-bugh-yata qalbī
Bi-abi al-anbiyā bi-Kun fa-yakūnu
Give me my desire and the quest of my heart, by the "Father of the Prophets" (Muhammad), through [the command] "Be" and it is.
Bil-Muqaffā bi-Ādama wa-bi-‘Īsā
Wa-bi-Mūsā wa-huwa al-qawiyyu al-Amīnu
By the "Followed One," by Adam, and by Jesus; and by Moses, the strong and trustworthy.
Wa-bi-Nūḥin wa-Yūsufa wa-bi-Ya‘qū-
Ba abīhi fa-‘az-muhum lā yalīnu
By Noah, Joseph, and Jacob his father; their resolve never softens.
Wa-bi-Yaḥyā wa-Yūnusa wa-Sulaymā-
Na fahab lī ‘ayshan yaṭību yahūnu
By John, Jonah, and Solomon; grant me a life that is good and easy.
Bi-Abī Bakrin al-‘Atīqi anilnī
Maṭ-labī innī bā’isun mustakīnu
By Abu Bakr al-'Atiq, grant me my quest; for I am a wretched, humble one.
Wa-bi-‘Uthmāna jāmi‘i al-dhikri min ba‘-
Di Abī ḥaf-ṣin al-sirāju al-mubīnu
And by Uthman, the collector of the Remembrance, after Abu Hafs (Umar), the manifest lamp.
Wa-waliyyī mawlāya wa-huwa ‘Aliyyun
Wālidu al-sib-ṭi wal-qarību al-qarīnu
And my guardian, my master, and he is Ali; the father of the grandson, the close companion.
Wa-bi-Zahrā khayri al-nisā’i jamī‘an
Wa-banīhā hum lin-nabiyyi banūnu
And by Zahra (Fatima), the best of all women, and her sons who are sons to the Prophet.
Bil-ḥawāmīmi biṭ-ṭawāsīmi bil-kā-
Fi wa-yat-lū min ba‘du yā’un wa-sīnu
By the Ha-Meem chapters, by the Ta-Seen chapters, by the Kaf, followed by the Ya and the Seen.
Jāzi ṣaḥ-bī wa-rif-qatī kulla khayrin
Salliman-hum yawma al-jamī‘u rahīnu
Reward my companions and my associates with every good; keep them safe on the Day when everyone is held hostage [by their deeds].
Wajziyan Fāl ay munīlu wa-tajzī
Mithla dhā Bāwa fal-ṭabību al-muzīnu
Reward Fall [a specific disciple], O Giver! And reward likewise Bawa, the beautifying physician.
Wa-kadhalika al-ibnu al-kabīru khadīmī
Bārikan fī al-jamī‘i yā man yu‘īnu
And likewise the eldest son, my servant; bless them all, O You who helps.
Wa-kadhalika al-zā’irūna min kulli ufuqin
Wajadū wa‘da ṣādiqin lā yamīnu
And likewise the visitors from every horizon; they found the promise of a truthful one, not a lie.
Wa-kadhalika man baqaw muwālīna ṭurran
Baqiya al-kullu bil-kitābi yadīnu
And likewise all those who remained loyal; may everyone remain adhering to the Book.
Wa-ṣalātun ‘alā imāmi al-barāyā
Muṣ-ṭafa al-khal-qi mith-luhu lā yakūnu
And a prayer be upon the Imam of creation; the Chosen of creation, like whom there is none.
Wa-‘ala al-āli wal-ṣaḥābata ṭurran
Dawma sirrī kalāmu rabbī al-mubīnu
And upon the family and companions entirely; as long as my secret remains the manifest speech of my Lord.
