# Harfud Daal · حَرْفُ الدَّال

**1.** دَلِيلِي نَبِيِّي قَائِــدِي وَهْوَ مُرْشِــدِي / وَأَسْعَى لِرَفْعِ الدِّينِ غَيْرَ مُهَــــدَّدِ

_Dalīlī nabiyyī qā’idī wa huwa murshidī / wa asʿā li-rafʿi-d dīni ghayra muhaddadi_

My guide is my Prophet, my leader, and he is my director; I strive to elevate the religion without being threatened.

**2.** دَفَعْتُ عَنِ الدِّينِ الْحَنِيفِ بِكَلْكَلِــي / وَيَا وَيْحَ قَرْنٍ فِي نِطَاحٍ لِجَلْمَـــدِ

_Dafaʿtu ʿani-d dīni-l ḥanīfi bi-kalkalī / wa yā wayḥa qarnin fī niṭāḥin li-jalmadi_

I defended the primordial religion with all my might; woe to the horn that attempts to butt against a solid rock.

**3.** دَسَائِسُ أَهْلِ الْمَكْرِ رُدَّتْ لِنَحْرِهِمْ / وَوَيْلٌ لِمَنْ نَاوَى الرَّقِيبَ بِمَرْصَدِ

_Dasā’isu ahli-l makri ruddat li-naḥrihim / wa waylun li-man nāwā-r raqība bi-marṣadi_

The plots of the people of deceit were turned back against them; woe to him who opposes the Watchful One from an outpost.

**4.** دَعُونِي لِمَدْحِ الْهَاشِمِــــيِّ وَذِكْـرِهِ / غَنِيتُ بِــهِ عَنْ غَيْرِهِ وَهْوَ مَسْنَدِي

_Daʿūnī li-madḥi-l hāshimiyyi wa dhikrihi / ghanītu bihi ʿan ghayrihi wa huwa masnadī_

Leave me to the praise of the Hashemite and his remembrance; through him I have become independent of all else, and he is my support.

**5.** دَرَوْنِي خَدِيمَ الْمُنْحَمِنَّا الَّذِي عَلَتْ / بِهِ الْمِلَّةُ الْغَــــرَّا بِغَيْــبٍ وَمَشْهَـدِ

_Darawnī khadīma-l munḥaminna-l ladhī ʿalat / bihi-l millatu-l gharrā bi-ghaybin wa mashhadi_

They knew me as the servant of the Bestower through whom the illustrious nation has risen, in the unseen and the seen.

**6.** دَعَاهُمْ إِلَى هَدْيِ الْكِتَابِ فَمَنْ بَغَــى / فَذَا السَّيْفُ قَدْ يَهْدِي بِهِ كُلَّ مُعْتَــدِ

_Daʿāhum ilā hadyi-l kitābi fa-man baghā / fa-dhā-s sayfu qad yahdī bihi kulla muʿtadi_

He called them to the guidance of the Book, and for whoever transgressed, this sword may guide every aggressor.

**7.** دَلاَلاَتُ صِدْقٍ قَــدْ تَبَــدَّتْ بِقَوْلِــهِ / وَبِالْفِعْلِ وَالْخُلْقِ الْعَظِيمِ فَقَــدْ قَـدِ

_Dalālātū ṣidqin qad tabaddat bi-qawlihi / wa bi-l fiʿli wa-l khulqi-l ʿaẓīmi fa-qad qadi_

Evidences of truthfulness appeared through his speech, his actions, and his magnificent character, for he has indeed reached the peak.

**8.** شَرِيعَتُـــــــهُ آيَاتُـــهُ وَصِحَـــابُهُ / وَعُنْصُرُهُ مِــنْ بَعْدِ أَفْضَلِ مَوْلِــدِ

_Sharīʿatuhu āyātuhu wa ṣiḥābuhu / wa ʿunṣuruhu min baʿdi afḍali mawlidi_

His law, his signs, and his companions are his witnesses, along with his noble origin from the best of births.

**9.** نَشَا فَائِقًــا فِي الْبِرِّ وَالْعَدْلِ وَالْوَفَا / وَمَا فِيهِ مَذْمُومٌ وَمَا فِيـــهِ مِــنْ دَدِ

_Nashā fā’iqan fī-l birri wa-l ʿadli wa-l wafā / wa mā fīhi madhmūmun wa mā fīhi min dadi_

He grew up surpassing all in righteousness, justice, and loyalty; there is nothing blameworthy in him, nor is there any vanity.

**10.** فَمَـــا ظَلَــمَ الْهَــادِي وَلاَ مَـانَ نَاطِقًــا / وَمَا جَاءَ بِالْفَحْشَا مَدَى الدَّهْرِ صِنْدِدِي

_Fa-mā ẓalama-l hādī walā māna nāṭiqan / wa mā jā’a bi-l faḥshā madā-d dahri ṣindidī_

The Guide never oppressed, nor did he ever speak a lie; my champion never committed any indecency throughout time.

**11.** فَأَفْضَـــلُ خَلْـــــقِ اللّٰهِ حَقًّـــا مُحَمَّــدٌ / وَأَحْمَدُ كُلِّ الرُّسْلِ فِي الْيَوْمِ وَالْغَــدِ

_Fa-afḍalu khalqi-llāhi ḥaqqan Muḥammadun / wa aḥmadu kulli-r rusli fī-l yawmi wa-l ghadi_

For the best of Allah’s creation truly is Muhammad, and the most praised of all Messengers today and tomorrow.

**12.** عَلَيْــــــهِ صَـــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / فَلِي الْفَخْرُ فِي ذِكْــــرِ الْحَبِيبِ مُحَمَّـدِ

_ʿAlayhi ṣalātu-llāhi thumma salāmuhu / fa-liya-l fakhru fī dhikri-l ḥabībi Muḥammadi_

Upon him be the blessings of Allah and then His peace; I take pride in the remembrance of the beloved Muhammad.

**13.** عَلَيْـــــــهِ صَــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / مَدِيحِيَ خَمْرٌ يَزْدَرِي كُـــلَّ صَرْخَـدِ

_ʿAlayhi ṣalātu-llāhi thumma salāmuhu / madīḥiya khamrun yazdari kulla ṣarkhadi_

Upon him be the blessings of Allah and then His peace; my praise is a spiritual wine that surpasses every choice vintage.

**14.** عَلَيْــــــهِ صَــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / أَجِرْنِي أَجِرْنِي مُصْطَفَايَ وُ مُنْجِدِي

_ʿAlayhi ṣalātu-llāhi thumma salāmuhu / ajirnī ajirnī muṣṭafāya wa munjidī_

Upon him be the blessings of Allah and then His peace; protect me, protect me, O my Chosen one and my helper.

**15.** عَلَيْــــهِ صَــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــمَّ سَلاَمُـــهُ / أَجِرْنِيَ يَا طَـــهَ بِنَيْلِــي لِمَقْصَــدِي

_ʿAlayhi ṣalātu-llāhi thumma salāmuhu / ajirniya yā Ṭāhā bi-naylī li-maqṣadī_

Upon him be the blessings of Allah and then His peace; protect me, O Taha, by allowing me to reach my objective.

**16.** عَلَيْـــــهِ صَــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / وَآلٍ وَصَحْبٍ كُلُّهُمْ خَيْرُ مُرْشِـدِ

_ʿAlayka ṣalātu-llāhi thumma salāmuhu / wa ālin wa ṣaḥbin kulluhum khayru murshidi_

Upon him be the blessings of Allah and then His peace, and upon the Family and Companions, all of whom are the best guides.
