# Harful Laam ·

From [Ad-Dawaawiinu s-Sitta · الدواوين الست](https://qasaaid.zayfir.app/app/qasaaid/691f292bc02b144934a4ec1f) by [Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass](https://qasaaid.zayfir.app/app/authors/69172463686829cc1d041df5)

_Laqad ʿādanī shawqi-l mubarriḥu mā liyā / wa qad nāma jārātī wa uṣbiḥu wāʿiyā_

My agonizing longing has returned to me, what is wrong with me? while my neighbors have slept, I remain awake and conscious.

_Ḥanīnan ilā mawla-r risālati man ghadā / shafīʿa-l warā wa-l kullu yarjūhu wāfiyā_

Yearning for the Master of the Message, who has become the intercessor for all creation, and everyone hopes for his fulfillment.

_Banū-l biḍʿi wa-l khamsīna hal li-bukā’ihim / li-shawqin dawan kallā kadhālika mā biyā_

Those in their fifties—is there any medicine for their weeping out of longing? No, and likewise is my own condition.

_Alā fa-ʿdhurūnī aw falūmū fa-lam akad / umayyizu bayna-l ḥālatayni li-ḥāliyā_

So excuse me or blame me, for I can hardly distinguish between the two states due to my situation.

_Wa man kāna yadrī-l munḥaminna wa ʿāqiban / yariqqu li-ḥālātī walaw kāna qāliyā_

Whoever knows the Bestower and the Final Successor would feel pity for my states, even if he were once my hater.

_Aṣikh li-ishārātī fa-inniya lam abuḥ / bi-sirri ḥabībī khalli ʿanka su’āliyā_

Listen closely to my signs, for I have not revealed the secret of my beloved; so leave aside your questioning of me.

_Uḥibbu-l ilāha-l ḥaqqa ʿayna Muḥammadin / afāḍa lahu minhu ilayhi mudāniyā_

I love the True God, the very essence of Muhammad; He overflowed upon him from Himself to him, bringing him near.

_Fa-subḥāna rabbī wafqa ḥaḍrati qudsihi / wa subḥāna rabbī mā ajalla ilāhiyā_

So glory be to my Lord according to His Holy Presence, and glory be to my Lord, how majestic is my God.

_Idhā mā talā-t tālī ṣifāti nabiyyinā / bi "wa-n najmi" amsā li-l ḥaqīqati dāriyā_

When the reciter recites the attributes of our Prophet in the chapter "By the Star," he becomes aware of the ultimate reality.

_Qad athnā ʿalayhi rabbunā bi-kalāmihi / fa-mādhā ʿasā Barhāmu yuṣbiḥu ḥākiyā_

Our Lord has already praised him with His own speech; so what can Barham possibly say in narration?

_Faʿūlun mafāʿīlun faʿūlun mafāʿilun / madā-d dahri lā ya’tī bi-ḥaqqika māḥiyā_

(The meter) Fa’ulun Mafa’ilun Fa’ulun Mafa’ilun throughout time can never fully encompass your right, O Eraser (of misguidance).

_Walākinna madḥa-l mādiḥīna tashaffuʿun / fa-yashfaʿu lī Ṭāhā li-ajli maqāliyā_

But the praise of the praisers is a seeking of intercession; so Taha will intercede for me because of my words.

_ʿAlayhi ṣalātu-llāhi thumma salāmuhu / yuqarribunī khayru-l bariyyati rāḍiyā_

Upon him be the blessings of Allah and then His peace; may the best of creation bring me near while being pleased.

_ʿAlayhi ṣalātu-llāhi thumma salāmuhu / yunawwiru aqṭāra-l bilādi thanā’iyā_

Upon him be the blessings of Allah and then His peace; may my eulogy enlighten the regions of the lands.

_ʿAlayhi ṣalātu-llāhi thumma salāmuhu / wa ālin wa aṣḥābin wa man jā’a tāliyā_

Upon him be the blessings of Allah and then His peace, and upon the Family, the Companions, and whoever comes after.
