# Harful Faa · حَرْفُ الْفَاء

**1.** فَــإِنَّ مَدِيــحَ الْهَاشِمِـــيِّ سِلاَحِـــــي / وَجَيْشِي بِــهِ أَغْزُو طِوَالَ الرِّمَـاحِ

_Fa-inna madīḥa-l hāshimiyyi silāḥī / wa jayshī bihi aghzū ṭiwāla-r rimāḥi_

For indeed, the praise of the Hashemite is my weapon; and my army through which I conquer long spears.

**2.** مَتَــى عَسْكَرُوا أَوْ نَازَلُوا فَخَدِيمُـهُ / يُرَدِّدُ رَبِّي فِـــي الْمَسَــا وَالصَّبَـاحِ

_Matā ʿaskarū aw nāzalū fa-khadīmuhu / yuraddidu rabbī fī-l masā wa-ṣ ṣabāḥi_

Whenever they encamp or engage in battle, his servant continues to repeat "my Lord" in the evening and the morning.

**3.** وَإِنِّي بِـــهِ أَغْزُو الْعِدَى وَأُبِيدُهُــمْ / بِـــدُونِ رِجَـــالٍ أَوْ بِــدُونِ سِــلاَحِ

_Wa innī bihi aghzū-l ʿidā wa ubīduhum / bi-dūni rijālin aw bi-dūni silāḥi_

And through him I raid the enemies and annihilate them, without men or without weapons.

**4.** يَخَافُونَ مِنِّي كُـــــلَّ يَوْمٍ مَدَافِعًــا / وَحَسْبِي دِفَاعُ اللّٰهِ فِيهِ صَلاَحِــي

_Yakhāfūna minnī kulla yawmin madāfiʿan / wa ḥasbī difāʿu-llāhi fīhi ṣalāḥī_

They fear from me every day defensive cannons, but the defense of Allah is sufficient for me, in it is my righteousness.

**5.** هُمُ جِيفَةٌ وَقْتِي أُنَاجِي ، هَلاَكُهُمْ / بِدُونِ قِتَــــالٍ بَــلْ بِدُونِ جِــرَاحِ

_Hum jīfatun waqtī unājī halākuhum / bi-dūni qitālin bal bi-dūni jirāḥi_

They are but corpses while I engage in intimate prayer; their destruction is without fighting, rather without wounds.

**6.** لِمَنْ مُلْكُ هَـذِي الْأَرْضِ يَوْمِي وَقَبْلَهُ / فَلِلْوَاحِــــــدِ الْقَهَّــــارِ مِنْـــهُ نَجَاحِــي

_Li-man mulku hadhī-l arḍi yawmī wa qablahu / fa-li-l wāḥidi-l qahhāri minhu najāḥī_

"To whom belongs the kingdom of this earth today and before it?" It belongs to the One, the Subduer; from Him is my success.

**7.** كَفَانِي كَفَانِي مَـــا بَقِيتُ فَــلاَ أَرَى / فَسَـادًا صَلاَحًــا بَــلْ أُدِيمُ كِفَاحِي

_Kafānī kafānī mā baqītu falā arā / fasādan ṣalāḥan bal udīmu kifāḥī_

He has sufficed me, He has sufficed me as long as I remain, so I see neither corruption nor righteousness except in Him, and I continue my struggle.

**8.** فَإِنَّ صَلاَحَ الْعَالَمِيــنَ بِقَفْوِ مَـــنْ / قَدْ أَسْدَى لِمَنْ وَالاَهُ كُـــلَّ فَــلاَحِ

_Fa-inna ṣalāḥa-l ʿālamīna bi-qafwi man / qad asdā li-man wālāhu kulla falāḥi_

For the righteousness of the worlds lies in following the one who bestowed every success upon whoever took him as an ally.

**9.** بِــهِ قَدْ عَلَتْ عُرْبُ الْبَسِيطَةِ بَعْدَمَا / أُذِلُّوا وَضِيمُوا تَحْتَ كُـــلِّ جَنَـاحِ

_Bihi qad ʿalat ʿurbu-l basīṭati baʿdamā / udhīllū wa ḍīmū taḥta kulli janāḥi_

Through him, the Arabs of the earth rose after they had been humiliated and oppressed under every wing.

**10.** بِــهِ بَـرَعُوا فِي الْعِلْمِ بَعْدَ جَهَالَةٍ / وَنَالُوا بُعَيْدَ الْخُسْرِ كُــلَّ رَبَـاحِ

_Bihi baraʿū fī-l ʿilmi baʿda jahālatin / wa nālū buʿayda-l khusri kulla rabāḥi_

Through him, they excelled in knowledge after ignorance, and they attained after loss every profit.

**11.** وَقَدْ كَسَّرُوا كِسْرَى وَدَمَّرَ قَيْصَرًا / جُيُوشُهُــــمُ بِالْبِيــضِ أَوْ بِالرِّمَــاحِ

_Wa qad kassarū Kisrā wa dammara Qayṣaran / juyūshuhumu bi-l bīḍi aw bi-r rimāḥi_

And they broke Chosroes and destroyed Caesar; their armies with white swords or with spears.

**12.** تَــرَاهُمْ وَأَبْطَــالُ الْبِلاَدِ تَخَالُهُــمْ / مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَالْأَمْلاَكِ بَيْــنَ سِــلاَحِ

_Tarāhum wa abṭāla-l bilādi takhāluhum / mina-l jinni wa-l amlāki bayna silāḥi_

You see them and the heroes of the lands; you would think them of the Jinn or the angels amidst weapons.

**13.** فَلَمْ يَــأْتِ رُوحٌ مِثْلُ رُوحِ مُحَمَّــدٍ / غُدُوِّي بِذِكْرَاهُ وَفِيــــهِ رَوَاحِــي

_Falam ya’ti rūḥun mithlu rūḥi Muḥammadin / ghuduwwī bi-dhikrāhu wa fīhi rawāḥī_

No spirit has ever come like the spirit of Muhammad; my morning is in his remembrance and in it is my evening.

**14.** أَصِخْ لِقَوَافِي شَائِبِ الْفَوْدِ قَاصِـــرٍ / بِآيَـاتِ حُــبٍّ فِي الْأَمِينِ صِحَـاحِ

_Aṣikh li-qawāfī shā’ibi-l fawdi qāṣirin / bi-āyāti ḥubbin fī-l amīni ṣiḥāḥi_

Listen to the rhymes of one with graying temples, a falling servant, with verses of love for the Trustworthy one that are sound.

**15.** عَلَيْــــــهِ صَـــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / بِرَاحِ مَدِيحِي السُّكْـــرُ دُونَ جُنَاحِ

_ʿAlayhi ṣalātu-llāhi thumma salāmuhu / bi-rāḥi madīḥī-s sukru dūna junāḥi_

Upon him be the blessings of Allah and then His peace; in the wine of my praise is an intoxication without sin.

**16.** عَلَيْـــهِ صَــــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُــــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / مَدِيـــحُ الْإِمَــامِ الْهَاشِمِـيِّ جَنَاحِـي

_ʿAlayhi ṣalātu-llāhi thumma salāmuhu / madīḥu-l imāmi-l hāshimiyyi janāḥī_

Upon him be the blessings of Allah and then His peace; the praise of the Hashemite Imam is my wing.

**17.** عَلَيْــــــهِ صَـــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / وَذِكْرُ الْمُقَفَّى فِي الشُّؤُونِ نَجَاحِي

_ʿAlayhi ṣalātu-llāhi thumma salāmuhu / wa dhikru-l muqaffā fī-sh shu’ūni najāḥī_

Upon him be the blessings of Allah and then His peace; and the mention of the Final Prophet in all affairs is my success.

**18.** عَلَيْـــــهِ صَـــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُـــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / مُحَيَّــــاهُ أَنْسَانِــي عُيُــونَ مِــلاَحِ

_ʿAlayhi ṣalātu-llāhi thumma salāmuhu / muḥayyāhu ansānī ʿuyūna milāḥi_

Upon him be the blessings of Allah and then His peace; his countenance made me forget the eyes of the beautiful ones.

**19.** عَلَيْـــــهِ صَـــلاَةُ اللّٰهِ ثُــمَّ سَلاَمُــهُ / وَآلٍ وَأَصْحَابٍ وَأَهْـــلِ فَــلاَحِ

_ʿAlayhi ṣalātu-llāhi thumma salāmuhu / wa ālin wa aṣḥābin wa ahli falāḥi_

Upon him be the blessings of Allah and then His peace, and upon the Family, the Companions, and the people of success.
