# Harfudh Dhaal · حَرْفُ الذَّال

**1.** ذَيَاكَ عُبَيْدٌ ظَــــــلَّ لِلْمَـــدْحِ نَاسِجَــا / يُرَجِّيكَ بَـــابَ اللَّهِ لِلْكَـــرْبِ فَارِجَــا

_Dhayāka ʿubaydun ẓalla li-l madḥi nāsijā / yurajjīka bāba-llāhi li-l karbi fārijā_

That is a humble servant who remained weaving praises, hoping in you as the door to Allah for the relief of distress.

**2.** عَسَى فَـرَجٌ يَأْتِي بِــــهِ اللّٰهُ حِينَمَــا / يُهَدِّدُ أَهْلَ الدِّيــنِ مَــنْ كَانَ خَارِجَـا

_ʿAsā farajun ya’tī bihi-llāhu ḥīnamā / yuhaddidu ahla-d dīni man kāna khārijā_

Perhaps a relief will come from Allah when those who have left the fold threaten the people of religion.

**3.** فَإِنْ ثَلَّثُـــوا أَوْ أَشْرَكُـــوا فَنَصِيبُنَــا / هُوَ الْحَقُّ وَالتَّوْحِيدُ بَلْـهَ الْمُمَازِجَــا

_Fa-in thallathū aw ashrakū fa-naṣībunā / huwa-l ḥaqqu wa-t tawḥīdu bal-ha-l mumāzijā_

If they believe in a trinity or associate partners with God, our portion is the Truth and Monotheism, let alone any mixing.

**4.** تَخَلَّصَ لِلتَّوْحِيدِ مَنْ قَـــالَ مُوقِنًــا / هُوَ الْمَلِكُ الْحَقُّ الْمُقَـــدَّسُ سَاذَجَـا

_Takhal-laṣa li-t tawḥīdi man qāla mūqinan / huwa-l maliku-l ḥaqqu-l muqaddasu sādhajā_

He has devoted himself to Monotheism who says with certainty: He is the True King, the Holy, the Pure.

**5.** وَأَفْضَلُ خَلْـــقِ اللّٰهِ طَــــهَ مُحَمَّــدٌ / تَقَـــــرَّبَ بِالتَّقْدِيـــسِ لِلَّهِ عَارِجَــــا

_Wa afḍalu khalqi-llāhi Ṭāhā Muḥammadun / taqarraba bi-t taqdīsi lillāhi ʿārijā_

And the best of Allah’s creation is Taha Muhammad, who drew near through sanctification, ascending to Allah.

**6.** تَــــــرَاهُ إِذَا لَـــذَّ الْمَنَــــامُ مُجَافِيًــا / فِرَاشَ مَنَــــامٍ لِلْمَحَــــارِبِ وَالِجَــا

_Tarāhu idhā ladhdha-l manāmu mujāfiyan / firāsha manāmin li-l maḥāribi wālijā_

You see him, when sleep is sweet, shunning his bed and entering the prayer niches.

**7.** دَنَا فَتَـــدَلَّى بِالسُّجُـــــودِ تَـــذَلُّلاً / وَبِالْعِزِّ وَالتَّمْجِيدِ حَازَ الْمَعَارِجَــا

_Danā fa-tadallā bi-s sujūdi tadhal-lulan / wa bi-l ʿizzi wa-t tamjīdi ḥāza-l maʿārijā_

He drew near and descended in prostration with humility, and through might and glorification, he attained the heights of ascension.

**8.** خَرَجْنَا بِهِ مِنْ كُلِّ ضِيقٍ وَكُرْبَـــةٍ / دَخَلْنَا مَفَازًا لاَ نَرَى الدَّهْرَ مَأْرَجَــا

_Khara-jnā bihi min kulli ḍīqin wa kurbatin / dakhalnā mafāzan lā narā-d dahra ma’rajā_

Through him, we emerged from every narrowness and distress; we entered a place of success where we see no way out of bliss.

**9.** يُهَيِّـجُ أَشْوَاقِـــي هِـــلاَلُ رَبِيعِـــهِ / أُهِلَّ بِيُمْــــنٍ لِلسُّــــرُورِ مُمَازِجَــا

_Yuhayyiju ashwāqī hilālu rabīʿihi / uhilla bi-yumnin li-s surūri mumāzijā_

The crescent of his month (Rabi' al-Awwal) stirs my longings; it appeared with blessings, mingled with joy.

**10.** تَبَصَّرْ تَجِـــدْ أَنَّ الْبَــلاَءَ بِشَهْـــرِهِ / تَلاَشَى وَوَلَّى كَالسَّحَائِبِ دَارِجَا

_Tabaṣṣar tajid anna-l balā’a bi-shahrihi / talāshā wa wal-lā ka-s saḥā’ibi dārijā_

Look closely and you will find that trials, in his month, vanished and passed away like drifting clouds.

**11.** وَذَلِكَ أَنَّ الرَّبَّ مِنْ فَضْلِ جُودِهِ / لَهُ نَفَحَاتٌ قَـــدْ تَفُــوقُ التَّعَالُجَـا

_Wa dhālika anna-r rabba min faḍli jūdihi / lahu nafaḥātun qad tafūqu-t taʿālujā_

That is because the Lord, out of the grace of His generosity, has breezes that surpass any medical treatment.

**12.** وَتَيْلِـــكَ خَيْرَاتُ النَّبِيِّ مُحَمَّـــدٍ / عَلَيْهِ صَلاَةٌ قَدْ تُنِيلُ الْحَوَائِجَـــا

_Wa taylika khayrātu-n nabiyyi Muḥammadin / ʿalayhi ṣalātun qad tunīlu-l ḥawā’ijā_

And those are the blessings of the Prophet Muhammad; upon him be a blessing that grants all needs.

**13.** عَلَيْـــهِ مَــعَ الْآلِ الْكِـــرَامِ وَصَحْبِــهِ / وَمَنْ يَصْطَفِي هَذِي الْحَنِيفَةَ نَاهِجَا

_ʿAlayhi maʿa-l āli-l kirāmi wa ṣaḥbihi / wa man yaṣṭafī hādhihi-l ḥanīfata nāhijā_

Upon him, along with the noble Family and his Companions, and whoever chooses this primordial faith as a path.

**14.** عَلَيْهِ مَـــــدَى الْأَيَّامِ مَــا قَالَ خَــادِمٌ / ذَيَاكَ عُبَيْـــدٌ جَاءَ لِلْمَــــدْحِ نَاسِجَـــا

_ʿAlayhi madā-l ayyāmi mā qāla khādimun / dhayāka ʿubaydun jā’a li-l madḥi nāsijā_

Upon him throughout the days, as long as a servant says: That is a humble servant who came weaving praises.
