Harful Hhaa ·
From Ad-Dawaawiinu s-Sitta · الدواوين الست by Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass
Huwa-l ḥibbu Ibrāhīmu qad jā’a zā’irā
li-Aḥmada khayri-l ʿālamīna wa shākirā
He is the lover, Ibrahim, who has come as a visitor to Ahmad, the best of the worlds, and as one who is grateful.
Fa-man kāna yanḥū li-l madīnati zā’iran
siwāhu fa-inniya ji’tu Aḥmada zā’irā
Whoever heads toward Medina visiting someone else—as for me, I have come to visit Ahmad.
Lahu-l masjidu-l aʿlā fa-Ṭāhā mushīduhu
wa aqṭaʿahu rawḍa-l jināni mujāwirā
To him belongs the highest mosque; Taha is its builder, and he (Allah) granted him a garden of Paradise as a neighbor.
Yudhakkirunī dahran maḍā wa nabiyyunā
yarūḥu wa yaghdu yublighu-l waḥya dhākirā
It reminds me of an age that passed, when our Prophet would go and come, conveying the revelation and remembering God.
Yabītu yunājī rabbahu wa nahārahu
yuʿāshirunā yahdī ila-l ḥaqqi nāṣirā
He spends the night in intimate prayer to his Lord, and by day he lives among us, guiding to the Truth as a helper.
Fa-āthāruhu dallat ʿalayhi tabaṣṣaran
bi-Makkata amra-l hāshimiyyi-d dahra ẓāhirā
His traces have pointed to him; look closely in Mecca—the matter of the Hashemite has always been manifest.
Wa tī Ṭaybatun hādhāka Badrun wa khandaqun
wa dhā Uḥudun tunsīka badwan wa ḥāḍirā
And this is Tayba (Medina), that is Badr and the Trench, and this is Uhud; they make you forget all nomads and city-dwellers.
Fa-Barhāmu ya’tī zā’iran mutawassilā
wa mustashfiʿan arjūka fī-l qabri ḥāḍirā
So Barham (Ibrahim) comes as a visitor, seeking a means, and seeking intercession; I hope for your presence in the grave.
Fa-kun liy shafīʿan yawma zāghat wa adhʿanat
wujūhun wa abṣārun tarā-l kulla ḥā’irā
So be my intercessor on the day when faces and eyes turn away and submit, and you see everyone in confusion.
Wa qad shāba wildānun wa khāfa mu’ammanun
wa qad balaghati kullu-l qulūbi-l ḥanājirā
When children's hair turns gray, and the one once safe becomes afraid, and all hearts reach the throats.
Wa kullu barī’in qāla nafsī wa qad jathā
al-jamīʿu falā tulfī hunāka akābirā
And every innocent soul says "myself, myself," and everyone has knelt; you shall find no "great ones" there.
Walā malikan illa-l ilāha wa shāfiʿā
siwā-l muṣṭafā-l mukhtāri bad’an wa ākhirā
Nor any king except God, nor any intercessor except the chosen Mustafa, from the beginning to the end.
Fa-muʿtamadī ḥaqqan ʿaṭā’u Muḥammadin
wa hal yataḥaddānī-z zamānu mukābirā
My true reliance is on the gift of Muhammad; can time ever challenge me with arrogance?
Li-nafsī wa ābā’ī wa naslī wa rufqatī
shafāʿatuhu wa-l ḥaqqu abdā-s sarā’irā
For myself, my fathers, my lineage, and my companions is his intercession; and the Truth has revealed the secrets.
Riḍā-llāhi ʿan shaykhī wa aṣlī wa murshidī
wa qad ʿāsha yahdīnā ila-d dīni nāṣirā
May the pleasure of Allah be upon my Shaykh, my origin, and my guide; he lived guiding us to the religion as a helper.
Bi-ghazwin wa taʿlīmin wa ḥajjin wa hijratin
wa ʿāsha shakūran wa huwa qad ʿāsha ṣābirā
Through striving, teaching, pilgrimage, and migration; he lived as a grateful one, and he lived as a patient one.
ʿAlayka ṣalātu-llāhi thumma salāmuhu
ataytuka barran thumma baḥran wa ṭā’irā
Upon you be the blessings of Allah and then His peace; I came to you by land, then by sea, and by air.
Bi-nafsī wa awlādī wa ṣaḥbī wa usratī
fa-atḥif lanā-r riḍwāna baṭnan wa ẓāhirā
With my soul, my children, my companions, and my family; so gift us with Divine Pleasure, inwardly and outwardly.
ʿAlayka ṣalātu-llāhi thumma salāmuhu
wa ālin wa azwājin wa man kāna ʿāsharā
Upon you be the blessings of Allah and then His peace, and upon the family, the wives, and whoever was his companion.
