Aydwan ·

From Ad-Dawaawiinu s-Sitta · الدواوين الست by Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass

A-īwāna Kisrā hal dahāka wa andharā
burūzu nabiyyin inna Kisrā taqah-qarā

O Arch of Chosroes, did the emergence of a Prophet startle and warn you? For indeed, Chosroes has retreated.

A-Kisrā Anū Sharwāna jā’a Muḥammadu
bi-āyātihi-l kubrā wa qaṣruka abṣarā

O Chosroes Anushirwan, Muhammad has come with his greatest signs, and your palace has witnessed them.

A-Kisrā Anū Sharwāna jā’a Muḥammadu
wa hal qaṭaʿa-l anhāra am hal tafaj-jarā

O Chosroes Anushirwan, Muhammad has come; did he cut through the rivers, or did they gush forth?

A-Kisrā Anū Sharwāna jā’a Muḥammadu
wa hal qad atāka-l mūbidhānu mukab-birā

O Chosroes Anushirwan, Muhammad has come; did the high priest (Mubidhan) come to you proclaiming God's greatness?

A-Kisrā Anū Sharwāna jā’a Muḥammadu
yurattilu dhikran mundhiran wa mubash-shirā

O Chosroes Anushirwan, Muhammad has come, reciting a Remembrance that is both a warning and glad tidings.

Wa qad sajada-l maʿbūdu lillāhi nāṭiqā
wa qad anba’a-l kuh-hānu mā kāna muḍmarā

The worshipped idols prostrated to Allah, speaking; and the soothsayers revealed what was once hidden.

Salāmun ʿalā nūri-l ilāhi-l ladhī khabat
bi-anwārihi anwāru Kisrā wa Qayṣarā

Peace be upon the Light of God, by whose radiance the lights of Chosroes and Caesar were extinguished.

Salāmun ʿalā man jā’a wa huwa bi-Makkatin
bi-nūrin bihi īwānu Kisrā takas-sarā

Peace be upon the one who came while he was in Mecca with a light by which the Arch of Chosroes was shattered.

Salāmun ʿalā sirri-l wujūdi wa ramzihi
fa-lillāhi mā aʿlā wa aghlā wa abharā

Peace be upon the secret of existence and its symbol; how exalted, precious, and dazzling God has made him.

Salāmun ʿalā man jā’a wa-l kawnu kulluhu
ẓalāmun wa min anwārihi qad tanaw-warā

Peace be upon the one who came while the whole universe was in darkness, and from his lights, it became illuminated.

Salāmun ʿalayhi min khadīmin mutayyamin
bi-Baghdāda wahnan lā yanāmu tafak-kurā

Peace be upon him from an infatuated servant in Baghdad, in the late night, unable to sleep due to reflection.

Fa-man hadda hadhā-l qaṣra wa huwa bi-Makkatin
walīdan falā yubqī li-dhā-l kufri maẓ-harā

For the one who tore down this palace while he was a newborn in Mecca shall leave no trace of this disbelief.

Wa man hadda hadhā-l qaṣra wa huwa bi-Makkatin
sa-yahdimu qaṣra-l kufri ḥīna tadak-karā

The one who tore down this palace while he was in Mecca shall demolish the palace of disbelief when it is remembered.

ʿAlayka ṣalātu-llāhi thumma salāmuhu
wa ubṣiru ḥaẓ-ẓa-l muslimīna muwaf-farā

Upon him be the blessings of Allah and then His peace; and I see the fortune of the Muslims becoming abundant.

ʿAlayka ṣalātu-llāhi thumma salāmuhu
wa yalqā ʿaduwwu-d dīni sawṭan mudam-mirā

Upon him be the blessings of Allah and then His peace; and may the enemy of the religion meet a destructive whip.
